Chapter 5

5 min read1,250 words

Tang San casually closed the eyes of the great thief Wang Wu, while his hands were busy, quickly stripping off Wang Wu's clothes and the bag on his back, carefully examining his spoils.

Putting on the somewhat tattered clothes, he was no longer naked. Looking down at the neatly arranged items, Tang San's face showed a thoughtful expression.

The first thing that caught his eye was a small cloth bag, about the size of a palm, containing coins similar to silver dollars, each about three centimeters in diameter, with a total of about thirty.

In addition to these silver coins, the money bag also contained a piece of hard paper, about three inches square, with many groups of patterns and some text clearly printed on it, resembling ancient silver tickets, deposit slips, or identity documents, most of which Tang San did not recognize.

Apart from the money, there was a dagger made of fine iron, with a blade that shimmered with wave-like patterns, looking like a rare and fine piece.

Next was a white water bottle. Looking at this water bottle, a hint of surprise flashed in Tang San's eyes, as it was clearly a product of civilization, similar to military water bottles on Earth.

After carefully examining the water bottle, Tang San frowned slightly: "Could it be that this planet is in a near-modern technological era, otherwise it would be impossible to produce something like this reinforced glass."

Tang San pondered for a moment, forming some ideas. His gaze fell on the last item, a paper book with a blue cover and black letters, the title of which he did not recognize. However, after flipping through the content, it was clearly a martial arts manual.

Looking at the martial arts manual, Tang San's interest was quickly piqued. Although he did not recognize the text, it did not hinder his ability to study the techniques in the manual, perhaps due to his innate talent for martial arts.

After a short while, Tang San closed the book and said slowly, "These techniques seem to have some flaws and need to be combined with certain things to achieve maximum power. Seeing the blackness under that man's fingernails, it's likely some kind of poison technique."

Tang San, with his genius mind and powerful memory, had an exceptional ability to analyze information. After a thousand years of training in the dark space, his mental fortitude was extremely strong, allowing him to easily suppress mental confusion and external interference, maintaining a rational mindset in any situation. He quickly deduced information about the era in which the great thief Wang Wu lived from the various items and information.

He continued to reason: "That man showed signs of poisoning when I hit him with a claw technique. There are generally two possibilities for this: one, he was severely injured, and the toxins from his poison technique, which had accumulated in his body, could no longer be suppressed, leading to a backlash; the second, my fingernails contained a potent poison, causing him to be poisoned."

"However, based on the appearance of the wounds, the five blood holes surrounded by blackness, the second possibility is the highest."

"Perhaps this transformation is related to my burial in the Netherworld Yin Sha point. According to legend, if a corpse is buried for too long without decaying, it will accumulate corpse poison. My fingernails may contain this poison. If used in conjunction with the martial arts in this manual, it should be able to exert some power, enhancing my self-preservation abilities. This planet seems quite chaotic."

Just as Tang San was thinking, a wolf's howl sounded in the distance, startling him.

The howl was not far from Tang San. He looked up in the direction of the sound, and a hungry wolf with green eyes was already on the meteorite crater, staring at him fiercely.

Seeing the hungry wolf, Tang San was not alarmed but rather pleased. A sense of hunger rose in his heart, and a glint of killing intent flashed in his eyes.

Tang San slowly approached the hungry wolf, his movements casual, as if he had no guard, but he held the exquisite dagger in his hand.

The hungry wolf, seeing Tang San approach quickly, showed a hint of confusion in its eyes. In the past, various animals that saw it would immediately flee or retreat, and none dared to approach it. Instinctively, it hesitated, unsure whether to attack Tang San.

However, the wolf's ferocity and hunger urged it on, overcoming its instinct. It had few opportunities left. The harshness of nature had placed it on the brink of life and death. If it did not find food today, it would die as its strength waned.

The hungry wolf slowly crouched down. As Tang San stepped into its attack range, the wolf leaped up, lunging at Tang San's face. Its large mouth was open, revealing white teeth and a red mouth, and the stench of its breath rushed toward Tang San's throat, as fast as an arrow.

Seeing the wolf pounce, Tang San's dagger flashed. As the wolf rushed to him, he immediately crouched down, his feet exploding to avoid the wolf's mouth, and he quickly rushed into the wolf's abdomen. With a swift upward swing of his right hand, a bright blade of light flashed over his head.

"Thud"

The sound of the blade piercing flesh rang out. The wolf was gutted in mid-air, and blood and organs fell from Tang San's head, creating a scene of gore.

Tang San had already moved out of the range of the blood and organs the moment he gutted the wolf, avoiding the dirty rain.

The wolf felt a sharp pain in its abdomen, and the strength in its body quickly drained away. It fell heavily to the ground, like a dead dog.

A whimper came from its mouth, its eyes filled with despair and a desperate desire for life. Unfortunately, as the blood continued to flow, its eyes gradually dimmed, and it convulsed one last time before lying still.

At this moment, Tang San slowly walked over, looking at the dead wolf. His mouth watered, a sign of extreme hunger. He had not eaten for years, and his body was protesting.

Tang San extended a hand and easily lifted the nearly hundred-pound wolf. He then used the dagger to cut away the organs that had spilled out, carrying only the remaining parts, and climbed out of the meteorite crater.

Looking at the vast wilderness, a glint of excitement flashed in Tang San's eyes. His new life had begun. He took a step and quickly left the area.

About an hour later, Tang San arrived at a small forest in the wilderness and began to process the wolf's body.

Carrying a bloody corpse through the wilderness was not a good idea, as the predators were not to be trifled with. Fortunately, the powerful wild species in the area had been scared away by the shock of the meteorite's impact, or Tang San would not have made it this far so easily.

He quickly skinned and cleaned the wolf's body and used the method of rubbing sticks together to start a fire.

Indeed, there are secrets in the spoils of the dead, and there is a place to go in the wilderness.
