Tang Yuantian had a bottle of Beijing Erguotou in front of him, drinking alone. After a tiring day, he wanted to have a few sips. He picked up the glass with his left hand, brought it to his lips, and drank half of it in one gulp. Then he exhaled deeply, as if he had expelled all the fatigue of the day from his body.
Chen Xiu'e put a piece of braised pork in Tang Jue's bowl and said, "Jue, eat more. Playing soccer is very tiring. You're still growing, so you need to eat more."
Tang Jue unconsciously glanced at Cuifhua's chest.
"What are you looking at!" Cuifhua was a bit angry, her cheeks turning red. This little guy had been staring at her chest since the beginning of the year. And now he was looking again.
Tang Jue was very embarrassed and immediately buried his head to eat. Chen Xiu'e's face didn't show anger; instead, a smile appeared on her face. Her son had grown up, actually looking at a girl's chest. He really had grown up!
Tang Yuantian swallowed the meat in his mouth and said to Tang Jue, "Son, how was the game today? How many goals did you score?"
Tang Jue looked up and said, "Four."
Tang Yuantian chuckled and said, "My son, you're really something."
Chen Xiu'e's face bloomed with pride.
Tang Yuantian came from a small town in northern Sichuan. He had never seen a soccer ball when he was young. After finishing junior high school, he went out to learn cooking. It was then that he learned what soccer was. When he came to France, he never expected that his son would join the Lyon youth team at the age of seven. This filled him with pride, and he almost told everyone that his son was in the Lyon youth team.
This was absolutely something to be proud of. A Chinese child had entered the talent-rich Lyon club. Even though it was just the youth team, it was still something to be proud of.
Tang Jue was their hope for the future!
Tang Jue looked at his parents' faces. He was originally going to tell them that he had been kicked out of the Lyon youth team. But seeing the pride on their faces, he hesitated.
After finishing the last bite in his bowl, Tang Jue stood up from his chair, preparing to go upstairs to his room. At that moment, a piece of paper fell out of his pocket.
Chen Xiu'e scolded her son, "So hasty, you dropped something." She bent down and picked up the paper. When she opened it, she didn't recognize a single word, as it was all in French.
Tang Jue turned around and saw that it was a test report. Chen Xiu'e smiled and asked, "Is it a love letter?"
Cuifhua became interested when she heard this. She put down her bowl and hurried over, saying, "Let me see." Chen Xiu'e handed the paper to Cuifhua and said with a smile, "Here you go!"
To mistake a test report for a love letter?
Cuifhua took the test report and her face turned angry. She said angrily, "Just a bunch of letters, I don't recognize any of them. Sister-in-law, you're teasing me."
"Take it!" Cuifhua handed the test report to Tang Jue. The overwhelming youthfulness of Cuifhua hit him, and Tang Jue took the test report. Cuifhua winked slyly and said to Tang Jue, "Read your love letter to us."
Cuifhua had been in France for several months and had heard that foreign girls were very open. She wanted to hear what a foreign girl's love letter sounded like.
Tang Jue muttered, "Read it?"
How to read it? This was clearly a physical test report. Should he lie?
He was fourteen, not eighteen. His parents would eventually find out. If he hid it, he would seem too mature. Hmm, that wouldn't do.
Moreover, if his parents found out about this later, how would they think? A fourteen-year-old child daring to hide such a big matter. Would they suspect that Tang Jue was no longer the same Tang Jue? That would be a big problem!
Tang Jue made up his mind, sat back down at the table, and called his mother to sit down. The couple looked at their fourteen-year-old son in surprise. Had their son really fallen in love? Cuifhua sat down again and picked up her bowl to eat.
Tang Jue looked at Tang Yuantian's weathered face and said, "Dad, I've left the Lyon youth team."
The laughter from a moment ago had not yet completely faded. Now the air in the room suddenly became tense. Tang Yuantian's face turned dark, Chen Xiu'e looked at her son anxiously, and Cuifhua looked at Tang Jue in shock.
Tang Yuantian stared intently at his son's slightly immature face, his face showing anger. Chen Xiu'e, not waiting for her husband to speak, asked anxiously, "Why? Is it because your skills are not good? Or did you fight?"
Chen Xiu'e immediately negated her own words. Her son was well-behaved and had never fought. And she had heard that he was very good in the team. She thought of a possibility and asked, "Is it because you're not French?"
Tang Jue shook his head and said, "None of those. It's because there's a problem with my body. I can't do intense exercise."
Tang Yuantian's face turned from dark to anxious, and he asked, "What's wrong?"
"Mitral valve regurgitation, surgery is recommended. The left kidney is starting to fail, a kidney transplant is recommended. This is the doctor's advice." Tang Jue pointed to the paper on the table and said, "This is the hospital's test report."
This paper, which Chen Xiu'e and Cuifhua had thought was a love letter from a French girl.
These words were like a bolt of lightning, striking them. Tang Yuantian's face turned ashen, his eyes staring blankly at the test report. Chen Xiu'e began to cry. Cuifhua's bowl fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. The grains of rice scattered in a radial pattern, steaming on the terrazzo floor.
Tang Jue looked at the three of them, breaking the silence, and said calmly, "It's not a big deal. I'll take care of the illness myself."
Tang Yuantian looked at the glass in a daze, filled it with wine, and drank it in one gulp. His face turned a sickly red. He wiped his mouth with his left hand and said to his son, "How will you take care of it? Are you a doctor? Are you rich?"
Chen Xiu'e shouted at her husband, "Why are you saying that to the child? The child is sick, why are you blaming the child!"
Cuifhua looked at Tang Jue's slightly immature face. When Tang Jue said he would take care of the illness himself, Cuifhua thought it was pure nonsense.
Tang Yuantian bit his bloodless lips and said to his wife, "Calculate how much cash we have now. If it's not enough, we'll sell the shop."
Chen Xiu'e stopped crying, wiped her face, which was full of tears and snot, and said to her husband, "I calculated last month. We have 110,000 francs in savings. There's about 5,000 francs in the shop. The two surgeries will cost hundreds of thousands of francs. Even if we sell the shop, it won't be enough."
Tang Yuantian seemed to have made a decision and said, "Then we'll borrow from my brother."
Cuifhua said, "I have 5,000 francs here. You can take it."
Tang Yuantian said, "No, that would be hard for you to explain to your family."
Cuifhua swung her long braid and said, "This is money I earned. How I spend it is my own business. They can't control me."
Chen Xiu'e hurriedly said, "Thank you!"
In his previous life, Tang Jue would never have worried about money. Now, the whole family was struggling over a mere 300,000 francs. For the current family, 300,000 francs was a huge amount.
Tang Jue's eyes were filled with emotion. He felt a deep love, a simple and touching love. There was no grand gesture, and when he told them about his illness, they were a bit flustered and panicked. But from his parents' reactions and Cuifhua's words, he saw that they faced the difficulties head-on without avoiding them.
These three were very ordinary people, but at this moment, Tang Jue felt that they were extraordinary. In the face of difficulties, they did not blame fate, wallow in self-pity, or complain about the world. Instead, they faced the difficulties positively and did not avoid them.
This must be the shining point of human nature!
At this moment, Tang Jue learned from his parents and Cuifhua: face difficulties head-on!
