Chapter 84

"Are you sure this can be eaten, Jae-tae?"

Looking at the banana that had softened after being grilled, Jung Ho hesitated to take a bite. The memories from earlier had left a deep impression on him, so even his instinct to eat was suppressed.

It was around 3 PM. After casually sweeping a patch of sand under the coconut trees, everyone gathered there to rest.

Then, Jae-tae used the branches that he and the others had collected from the forest to start a campfire. The first thing they did was to grill some of the bananas they had brought back.

However, no one dared to try the first bite of the grilled bananas.

"Really, it can be eaten." With no other choice, Jae-tae picked up one first. Since it had been on the sand for a while, it wasn't too hot.

Peeling off the skin, the steaming white flesh of the banana was revealed to everyone. Under everyone's watchful eyes, Jae-tae took a small bite.

Although Jae-tae knew that these ripened bananas were edible, he had never tried them before, so this was his first taste.

There was no hint of the usual banana flavor. Due to the heat, it had a slightly sticky texture, and as for the taste... there was practically no taste at all. However, it was definitely edible.

"Jae-tae? How does it taste?" Jung Ho asked cautiously.

After swallowing the banana, Jae-tae replied, "It's not very tasty, but it can be eaten. It's a kind of food."

With that, Jae-tae took another bite. Although he had eaten something on the plane, it wasn't much, and since getting off the plane, he hadn't eaten anything. Saying he wasn't hungry would be a lie, so for Jae-tae, the grilled bananas, which weren't too bad, were just fine.

Seeing this, the others didn't hesitate and each grabbed a grilled banana to eat.

"It's not astringent, but it's not very tasty," said Jae-suk, nodding slowly, acknowledging what Jae-tae had said.

"By the way, Jae-tae, where did you learn all this?" asked Lu Hongzhe curiously.

Everyone was also curious about Lu Hongzhe's question, so their eyes were all fixed on Jae-tae. "Some I read in books, some I learned from TV, and some I searched out of interest. It's all a bit mixed up."

(⊙﹏⊙b Sweat! Should I tell you that I learned this in my past life out of interest?)

"Oh, right! It's getting late. Later, Haha and I will go look for dinner ingredients, while the rest of you need to clear a place around the campfire for us to sleep. Otherwise, it might be dangerous to do it after dark." After finishing two grilled bananas, Jae-tae paused and said slowly.

"Sleeping place? Of course, no problem, but Jae-tae, how should we do it?" Although Jae-suk agreed, he still asked Jae-tae.

In the current situation, they could only rely on Jae-tae, who had shown sufficient wilderness survival skills.

Moreover, by now, if Jae-suk still didn't understand the intentions of the production team, it would be impossible. They indeed lacked this kind of experience, and seeing the writer put away the prompt board, Jae-suk understood that PD Kim Tae-ho had made a decision to shoot freely based on what Jae-tae had demonstrated.

So, as the guide of the program, Jae-suk naturally played his role well. As for the others... well... some were probably still lost in their fantasies!

"It's simple. Just lay a layer of soft leaves on the cleared land, and use branches to secure it around to create a wind barrier." Jae-tae said casually.

But a large sweat drop appeared on Jae-suk's forehead.

It is indeed simple... but why can't I understand it... %>_<%!!!

Since that's the case... there's no other way. We'll just have to figure it out together.

By the time Haha finished his banana, it was around 4 PM. Jae-tae picked up the pot that was lying nearby, as there was no other container to use.

Following the coastline, Jae-tae had already noticed when they got off the boat that about two kilometers away, there was a very obvious cluster of rocks. In such places, there are often many shellfish and crustaceans.

Meanwhile, as Jae-tae left, the production team had split into two groups.

A few crew members stayed with the five remaining cast members to handle filming and lighting, while the rest of the writers and PDs followed Jae-tae and Haha to the rock cluster Jae-tae had noticed.

Jumping onto a rock, Jae-tae squatted down and peered at the water's edge for a while. Then, he suddenly bent down and reached his hand into the seawater, feeling around.

"OK! I found it, Haha, come over quickly." After a while, Jae-tae straightened up with a smile and called Haha over.

"Got it, I'm coming over." Faced with Jae-tae's urging, Haha had no choice but to climb onto the rock. "I'm here, Jae-tae, what's up?"

"Pot!" Jae-tae shouted.

Haha quickly handed over the pot, and at that moment, Jae-tae placed the object he had been holding into the pot.

It turned out to be two small sea snails.

"Haha, in the crevices of these rocks, there are usually some sea snails and crustaceans. As long as you look carefully, you can definitely find them."

Haha's eyes widened as he watched Jae-tae pull out the snails as if by magic. Jae-tae naturally explained to him.

"Jae-tae, are you saying there are crabs here too?" Haha asked.

"I can't be sure, but the chances are very high," Jae-tae said encouragingly.

Watching all this, PD Kim Tae-ho felt that his original arrangements were almost unnecessary. However, he didn't feel bad about it; instead, he was very excited. He believed that with Jae-tae's current performance, as long as the editing was done well, it would definitely be an incredibly exciting special episode.

PS: It's Christmas Eve today... For someone like me who has been alone for over twenty years, it's a truly sad time...
