As the sun set, the orange-red afterglow spread over the playground.
After half a month of intense training, the trainees gradually adapted to the life in the military camp. Although they were all tanned and their skin roughened, their spirits improved significantly, and their bodies became much stronger.
This afternoon, they had just completed the swimming training. Except for a few who were not good swimmers, most of them passed the test.
The second week of training ended, and the tense atmosphere suddenly relaxed a lot.
Mo Wen sat on a parallel bar on the playground, holding a dry leaf in his hand and blowing a little tune.
A simple dry leaf, in Mo Wen's hands, seemed like an instrument, with elegant and classical notes continuously jumping out, forming a tune with a rich ancient flavor.
Mo Wen's world in his previous life was similar to an ancient feudal society, where girls would learn embroidery, farming, and weaving, while boys, if they had the means, would study poetry, literature, archery, and the Four Books and Five Classics to achieve fame.
For the children of noble families, they would learn music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. Mo Wen's family, the Mo Clan, was one of the oldest martial arts families, and he was influenced by ancient culture from a young age, excelling in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, as well as archery and riding.
However, what he liked most was not various instruments, but using dry leaves to blow special tunes. In that feudal society, this was considered a heterodox skill, but as a divine doctor, he didn't care about such things.
In the past, he would enter deep forests day and night, tasting various herbs and staying away from the secular world. When he felt lonely, he would pick a leaf and blow a tune.
"Mo Wen, when did you learn to play tunes? It sounds really good."
A voice suddenly sounded from behind Mo Wen. Perhaps due to his intense focus, or the lack of his previous internal energy cultivation, he didn't notice anyone approaching.
"Qin Xiaoyou."
Mo Wen instinctively turned his head and found a tall and graceful girl standing behind him, wearing a military uniform that made her look less delicate and more resolute.
Who else could it be but Qin Xiaoyou, who now had a somewhat heroic and spirited air of a female soldier.
During the half-month of military training, he had seen Qin Xiaoyou a few times. The school had already arranged the training areas by department, so the Medical Department and the Economics and Management Department were both assigned to the 19th Army District.
Therefore, Qin Xiaoyou and Mo Wen were in the same military district, though she was in the female camp and he was in the male camp. Apart from Qin Xiaoyou, the other trainees in Mo Wen's class were also in the 19th Army District, but he didn't know this until Qin Xiaoyou told him.
After all, he wasn't familiar with his classmates, and he didn't know many of them.
"When did you learn to play tunes? You really can't judge a person by their appearance."
Qin Xiaoyou curiously looked Mo Wen up and down. They had been classmates for three years, and this was the first time she knew Mo Wen could play tunes, and they sounded so good.
"There's a lot you don't know about me." Mo Wen smiled faintly.
"Arrogant."
Qin Xiaoyou gave Mo Wen a glare, but upon reflection, she realized she didn't know much about him. In her impression, Mo Wen was a quiet and somewhat introverted person. Although they had been good friends for three years, most of the time, she would talk to him, and he would just listen, rarely speaking.
So, she didn't know much about Mo Wen's life, except that he came from a single-parent family.
"Why do you have time to come find me today? Aren't you busy with that concert or something?" Mo Wen asked curiously.
He knew Qin Xiaoyou was very busy, reportedly organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival performance for the female camp. He hadn't seen her for several days.
Tomorrow was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the entire military district was on holiday. The four training camps would jointly hold a celebration, and each camp would send representatives to perform. They were already in the midst of intense rehearsals.
"It's not a concert, but a joint celebration, and everything is already arranged."
Qin Xiaoyou gave Mo Wen a glare, confident that the performance was a piece of cake for the female camp, though it might be a headache for the male camp.
She supported herself on the parallel bar, leaped up, and nimbly flipped to sit beside Mo Wen on the bar.
"Not bad, your skills are pretty good." Mo Wen smiled.
Qin Xiaoyou, though a girl, was hardworking. After half a month of training, she had become more efficient and cheerful. Although her skin was tanned, she had gained a wild beauty.
"Of course, I'm ranked in the top ten for the 400-meter obstacle course in the entire female camp."
Qin Xiaoyou huffed, slightly lifting her chin, like a proud swan.
Mo Wen smiled. Although Qin Xiaoyou was a girl, she was very competitive. In high school, she was the class president and the student council chair, actively participating in class and school activities, and her academic performance was always among the top in the grade.
"Mo Wen, Cheng Hao is also in the 19th Army District. About that fight in the canteen..." Qin Xiaoyou paused, then said with some concern, "Just be careful and try to avoid him."
The fight in the canteen was known throughout the military district. Qin Xiaoyou learned from an informed friend that it seemed to be related to Cheng Hao, and the target was Mo Wen.
Looking at Qin Xiaoyou's slightly furrowed brows, Mo Wen smiled indifferently. Cheng Hao was not a concern for him. Even if Cheng Hao didn't cause trouble, he would find a way to retaliate, but he just hadn't found the right opportunity yet.
"Is he a wicked playboy? Are you afraid of him?"
Seeing Mo Wen's calm demeanor, Qin Xiaoyou felt frustrated. Everyone was worried about him, but he didn't take it seriously.
"Why be afraid of him? If you're afraid of him, will he stop bullying you?"
Mo Wen said with a laugh.
"You're right. That bastard, why does he always pick on you?"
Qin Xiaoyou was puzzled. Cheng Hao seemed to have a grudge against Mo Wen, bullying him since high school and almost ruining his chance to go to college.
"Because he's envious and jealous." Mo Wen smiled.
"Envious and jealous?" Qin Xiaoyou blinked, looking at Mo Wen in confusion.
"Because he's envious that I can be friends with the top school beauty, and he can't." Mo Wen said seriously.
"Shut up."
Qin Xiaoyou was immediately annoyed, glaring at Mo Wen. Was she to blame for this? Besides, many people were her friends, so why did Cheng Hao only pick on him?
"Maybe it's a problem with your character." Qin Xiaoyou concluded.
She didn't know that Cheng Hao's persistent targeting of Mo Wen was actually related to her. If not for Mo Wen's help, she might have already fallen into Cheng Hao's hands.
"Maybe Cheng Hao's brain is too open, and some of his neurons are malfunctioning."
Mo Wen raised an eyebrow, analyzing seriously.
Pfft~
Qin Xiaoyou couldn't help but laugh, "Just be careful. I have to go, I still need to tidy up my quarters."
"By the way, will you perform at the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration tomorrow?"
She jumped off the bar, her eyes twinkling as she looked at Mo Wen with interest.
"No."
Mo Wen had no interest in participating in any performance.
"Then I'll go."
Qin Xiaoyou smiled slyly and turned to leave gracefully.
In the evening, Mo Wen walked out of the dormitory alone and found a secluded corner on the playground to practice the Dragon Tiger Fist.
After half a month of training, his physical condition had clearly improved. The high-intensity training in the military and the well-balanced diet easily promoted his cultivation progress.
"Mo Wen, you don't have to work so hard."
Behind him, Wang Yuan's voice sounded. Since he learned that Mo Wen was also a martial artist, he often hung out with him. They were of the same kind, with a common language, especially since Mo Wen's cultivation level was higher and his understanding of cultivation was deeper.
After a few days of interaction, Wang Yuan found that Mo Wen's occasional words were very helpful for his cultivation, and some insights were even more profound than what his master had said.
Therefore, whenever Mo Wen practiced, he would come out to practice with him. However, Mo Wen's diligence amazed him. He had always considered himself hardworking, but compared to Mo Wen, he fell short.
