Chapter 2

I am Reito, who has memories from another world. This time, I have finally turned seven. In the middle of the night, probably at the moment the day changed, a status window appeared before my eyes. Incidentally, I was awake, my heart pounding.

Name: Reito

Age: 7

Skills: Magic Manipulation, Archery

Magic: Earth Magic, Life Magic

...Pretty simple. It's a game-like window, but the content is thin. Well, I know I can use Earth Magic. But couldn't there have been a bit more? I'm crushed again, realizing I don't have the protagonist attributes, on this night of my seventh birthday...

It's morning. Not a brand new morning, but a morning of departure. I need to muster some courage. I have to get them to listen to me. It's all about determination.

I knock on the front door, trembling with fear.

"Okay. ...What is it? Breakfast isn't ready yet!"

This is my mother. The moment she saw my face, she looked down at me as if I were a bug. What did I do? Well, thanks to her, I have no lingering attachment to this place.

"Sorry for waking you so early. I turned seven, and I want to talk to you for a moment."

"Talk? What kind of talk..."

She clearly looks annoyed!

"Staying here will only hold you back..."

I say in a pitiful voice, and my mother snorts. She steps aside and gestures for me to come in with her chin. Really, if the parents are like this, the children are no different.

Inside the room, breakfast was being prepared. On my plate is a fruit I've never seen before. There's also meat. A chunk. It doesn't look appetizing.

I avert my eyes from the dining table and look at my father and mother.

"What is it, at this hour?"

My father makes no effort to hide his displeasure. Beyond him, my eldest brother, who has just woken up, is standing. I glance at him and then bow deeply.

"I've turned seven. I think I'll leave this house and become an adventurer."

"Huh? What are you talking about, you?"

In front of our parents, my eldest brother's speech is a bit more polite. I ignore it on purpose.

"I don't have any skills that would be useful for the household. Staying here will only hold my brother back more. I can't tarnish the name of my brother, who is known for his excellence. No one will miss me if I'm gone. But my presence will only cause problems."

"U-uh, wait a minute..."

"I've burned the grass, destroyed the shed, and injured the horse..."

Well, all of these were done by my eldest brother and blamed on me.

"I should be gone for the sake of my promising brother."

I glance at my parents. My mother looks indifferent. My father rests his chin in his hand and nods. The one who panicked was the eldest son, but here, without hesitation, he starts to boast. His nose is starting to point upwards.

"Well, well, you're just like our son!"

My mother is in a good mood. Praised by his beloved mother, his face melts. He puts his hands on his hips and leans back.

"Leave it to me. Indeed, a guy like this, whether he's here or not, makes no difference! After all, I'm a genius!"

Ha ha ha ha! No, I'm laughing, but you can't even do simple addition. Despite that, you got all the attention. Well, that's fine. One last push. I'll spill the beans about his romantic relationships.

The eldest son's movements stop abruptly. Then my mother, still smiling, confronts him.

"Isn't Miria the mayor's daughter! And Karin and Miro too!? Oh, where do I start?"

"Mom, wait a minute..."

"Your wife! But maybe the mayor's place is a bit much? It's okay, right? Our son is excellent!"

"Mom!"

They start bickering, so I bow to my father and quickly leave the scene. This way, my brother won't be able to leave the house for a while. It would be troublesome if he came after me.

Outside, the third eldest brother is peeking out of the window, half his face showing. He looks at me with a resentful gaze. Probably because he will become the lowest in the household once I'm gone. I don't care. If he doesn't like it, he can leave the house.

By the way, everyone except me lives in the house. I ended up in the stable because there was no room for me, but otherwise, I and he are treated similarly.

I return to the stable and take out a bag and a few small bottles from the straw. It's a backpack made from vines I harvested from the forest. It somehow turned out to look like a school bag. The bottles contain homemade healing potions. I pack them in the bag and put it on my back. Also, a disassembly knife and a set of homemade bow and arrows. Preparations complete.

"Make sure to eat properly."

I stroke the faces of the horses, my roommates for several years, and leave the house, or rather, the stable.

The weather is clear. My mood is bright and clear. Let's go!
