When Qin Weihang arrived in Lantian County, the door of the villa was opened. When he walked to the door, he heard Yu Ran’s loud voice:
“… That kid 80% has an Oedipus complex. Maybe he will find an older woman that’s older than the both of us after graduation!”
Zhong Jing said in a worried, gentle fatherly tone: “Well, the older sister still needs to be interested in him for it to work. He is still too immature, so it won’t work out unless he matures a bit more.”
“He doesn’t need to be mature! Someone with many qualifications like him is what older women loves. This is called arousing maternal love, understand?”
Qin Weihang stopped behind the door, unable to walk in. He didn’t understand why the two of them couldn’t talk about something else? He thought, did I get adopted by you guys and became your son?
Under the influence of alcohol, Yu Ran’s voice was getting louder and louder, and he gradually talked about topics that were not suitable for children: “Now, he is even shy when wearing a harness. What’s there to be shy about? Others will not be envious. How will he get a girlfriend in the future? Don’t tell me the other woman has to take the initiative…”
Zhong Jing said, “Weren’t you optimistic about him looking for an older woman? An older woman can teach him.”
After speaking, the room went quiet, and then a big laugh broke out.
Qin Weihang leaned against the door and listened calmly. He guessed that Mu Dan should not be at home, and as expected, he heard Yu Ran asking about Mu Dan and her troupe going to the countryside for a charity performance. Qin Weihang knocked on the door twice and walked in.
“Oh, speak of the devil!” Yu Ran turned to greet him.
With a wine bottle on the coffee table in the living room, Qin Weihang glanced over and walked in, then said, “I’m here to get the car key.”
He usually rides his own vehicle when going rock climbing in the wild. If it was farther, he would drive the climbing gym’s car. However, the climbing gym’s car was sent for repair today, which is why he came to borrow Zhong Jing’s car in the middle of the night.
Although Zhong Jing received Qin Weihang’s WeChat message earlier and agreed to let him borrow the car, he was still a little puzzled: “Didn’t you say that you were going the day after tomorrow? Why did you suddenly change it to tomorrow?”
Qin Weihang said, “I will be going with my friend.”
The two elders on the sofa immediately showed a surprise and ambiguous look of ‘As expected’.
Qin Weihang interrupted their reverie: “Male friend.”
Yu Ran guessed it in an instant: “An Ning?”
Zhong Jing also asked: “Your top student roommate?”
Qin Weihang stared at Yu Ran. He was not surprised at all that Yu Ran will report all aspects of his friendship to Zhong Jing. He didn’t know why he didn’t personally talk to Zhong Jing about An Ning, but he always felt that it was strange to talk about An Ning when facing Zhong Jing.
“Give me the car key, the dormitory is about to close.” Qin Weihang said.
Zhong Jing took out the car key and patted it on the coffee table. He said, “The key is here. Sit down and let’s talk for five minutes.”
Qin Weihang glanced at the car key, walked over, and sat down across the two of them.
Yu Ran immediately interrogated him: “Is there only An Ning? No one else?”
Qin Weihang: “No.”
“Wasn’t there two other boys last time?”
“Not this time.”
Yu Ran pointed to Qin Weihang drunkenly and said: “You must be hiding something from us!”
Qin Weihang ignored him. Only the key to the Land Rover Discovery was in his eyes. He looked at Zhong Jing again; meaning it was his turn.
Zhong Jing didn’t actually want to gossip about his personal life, but couldn’t help but urge: “Your friend is still a novice, so you two should be careful.” As he said this, he raised his hand and patted Qin Weihang on the shoulder, “Protect others.”
Qin Wei nodded his head, reached out and took the car key from the coffee table.
Zhong Jing looked up at Qin Weihang’s rising figure and said, “That friend of yours, bring him over when you have time so that I can get to know him.”
He didn’t know if Qin Weihang was nodding his head weakly or making a weak “mn” sound.
Qin Weihang took two steps, then walked back. He took out a glasses’ case from the pocket of his down jacket, walked over to pat it on the coffee table, and said, “For you guys.”
Zhong Jing and Yu Ran looked at each other and then watched the back of Qin Weihang who had put down the glasses case and left. Yu Ran picked up the glasses case and opened it. He confusedly looked at Zhong Jing: “Sunglasses? Why is he giving the both of us one pair of sunglasses? Have the two of us break them apart and each wears half?”
Qin Weihang pulled open the door and got into the car. The phone rang before he could start it. He picked it up and saw that very annoying phone number. He never answered calls from this number and was already being polite by not blocking it.
But this time he answered it since he was in a good mood.
“What is it?”
Qin Guanzhong was probably also surprised that there would be a day when his son would answer his call. He said after a few seconds of silence: “… How is university life?”
So it was nothing. Qin Weihang said: “Very good. I need to drive.”
“Qin Weihang!” Qin Guanzhong’s strength came back, “I only have you, this one son.”
Qin Weihang started the car, the dashboard of the central control lit up. He didn’t care and just said: “Now that having a second child is allowed, you can still have another one.” After speaking, he hung up the call and threw the phone aside.
Qin Weihang actually knew that Qin Guanzhong hadn’t thought about having another one, but his new wife had a miscarriage of her first child and was never able to get pregnant again. His words were equivalent to poking at Qin Guanzhong’s sore spot.
How unfortunate—it would’ve been nice if she got pregnant, then Qin Guanzhong would leave him alone.
An Ning wrote Uncle Li’s work summary in the dorm room. The time at the bottom right of the screen showed that it was almost 11 p.m but Qin Weihang had not returned yet. It was almost 10 p.m when Qin Weihang left, and he didn’t tell him where he was going. He just said that he was going out for a while, so An Ning couldn’t really ask.
Halfway through the work summary, the lights in the dormitory went out on time. An Ning estimated that Qin Weihang would not be back tonight. He washed up and went to bed alone, thinking, how are we going to go rock climbing tomorrow morning?
He lay on his stomach and read grammar for a while. Suddenly, he heard the door opening and he jolted. He saw Qin Weihang push the door open and walked in.
An Ning couldn’t believe it. It had been an hour since the dormitory was closed, yet Qin Weihang could still come back so casually like this: “You… How did you come in?”
“Through the window.” Qin Weihang said, walking over and threw something on the desk, making a clattering sound.
An Ning was dumbfounded. Qin Weihang should be talking about the corridor window on the second floor. Although the height should be safe for Qin Weihang, it was at night after all, and what if… “What if the window was closed?” He asked.
Qin Weihang lowered his head and took off his coat with a smile on his lips—as if the question was not worth asking. “Then I’ll call you to help me open it.”
An Ning said very seriously, “You should’ve called me first.”
Qin Weihang was sitting down in the chair, bending over to change shoes: “It’s a trivial matter.”
“Although it’s a trivial matter, if you tell me first, I can help you confirm whether the window is open. Moreover, I can even use my phone to shine a light when you come up. That is also something trivial.”
Only An Ning’s bedside lamp half-lit the room; it was somewhat dim. Qin Weihang looked up at him: “If you accompany me to do such a bad thing, can you still qualify for a scholarship?”
An Ning was stunned, wondering if it was because of this? He was touched for a moment, “It’s fine as long as I don’t get caught!”
Qin Weihang changed into his slippers, stood up, and walked to his bed. The white slippers on his feet dragged out a lazy sound on the floor. An Ning didn’t know why, maybe it was because Qin Weihang approached without warning, or perhaps it was because of this rare perspective of looking down at Qin Weihang, but he suddenly became a little nervous.
“Let me borrow the light.” Qin Weihang looked at him, reached out to the desk that was below, and turned the knob of the lamp on his desk.
The light source below gradually brightened like a miniature version of the sunrise, illuminating the handsome face of the young deity.
Even after Qin Weihang used the light to go wash up, An Ning felt as if he was still trapped in the light.
