Chapter 7

"Boar...!?"

In the midst of the dense forest.

The moment I came face to face with it, a shiver ran down my spine.

Though I said it myself, this boar is not a boar.

It resembles a boar, but it is something entirely different.

After all, it has horns.

Two horns, like those of a bull, stretched forward as if to impale me.

Not only that, but the tusks that a boar should have were much larger and sharper than any I had ever seen.

It was a boar equipped with four protrusions, two pairs in total.

Its ferocity was incomparable to the boars I had seen on TV in my original world.

"Scary...!?"

The horned boar had already noticed my presence and was directing obvious hostility towards me.

Without hesitation, it charged.

"Ah!?"

I narrowly avoided its bullet-like charge.

The horned boar, continuing its momentum, ran into a tree trunk.

Four large holes opened in the trunk, and the tree, unable to withstand the damage, creaked and fell over.

It was a tree so thick that it could have been used as a pillar in a house.

"Whoa...!?"

This boar is clearly not normal.

It's the epitome of fantasy.

Could it be a monster, different from ordinary animals?

Sure, in a different world, it's only natural for there to be monsters...

But while I was thinking that, it charged again!?

"Whoa!?"

The main issue is the intense hostility of this boar monster.

The moment it saw me, its eyes said, "I won't let you live."

I won't die just after coming to this different world!

Is there anything I can use as a weapon?

I rummaged through the equipment I had brought for my forest walk today and pulled out a machete.

Originally, it was meant for cutting away obstructive weeds and branches, but it was the only thing that could be used as a weapon.

The horned boar.

It stared straight at me, scratching its hind legs.

It seemed to be saying, "This time, I'll skewer you."

I readied the machete and held my breath.

The tension reached its peak.

The boar made the first move.

A bullet charge.

But I had already seen it once. On the second attempt, I could more accurately predict its movement, and while narrowly avoiding the attack, I countered with the machete!

The blade of the machete hit the horned boar's forehead precisely, splitting its head open.

With a beastly cry, the horned boar collapsed on the spot.

"I, I won...!"

I was shaken to the core.

Upon closer inspection, the machete in my hand had only the handle left, the blade part was gone.

It had broken.

The impact of the strike had snapped it.

The blade was still deeply embedded in the horned boar's forehead.

It must have reached the brain, and this beast would never move again.

"Phew, that was scary. The mountains are dangerous!!"

Indeed, in this different world.

Dangers are everywhere, and they are quite vivid.

I was able to defeat this monster because the effect of "Bearer of the Supreme" made me a first-class warrior the moment I gripped the machete.

In my usual state, I could never have engaged in such a close and precise battle, dodging and countering like a butterfly dancing and a bee stinging.

I really owe it all to "Bearer of the Supreme."

"But... what should I do with this boar...?"

Normally, this would be a scene where I should cheer, "Yay! Meat!!"

Boars are relatives of pigs, and I've heard their meat is similar and delicious.

Even a boar-like creature with horns, when considered through the lens of fantasy, would definitely be delicious, and its fur could be put to good use.

However, to achieve that, I would need to cut it up, gut it, and drain the blood.

For that, I would need a large, sharp blade, but the only one I had just broke.

I don't have any other cutting tools here.

Meanwhile, the dead prey would continue to rot.

"It's a waste, but I have no choice but to leave it here...!"

I clasped my hands in prayer over the boar's corpse and decided to leave.

Even though it tried to kill me, I couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence for life.

I considered burying it as a formality, but that would not be right according to the laws of nature.

If I leave it here, other animals and birds will enjoy a delicious meal and clean it up nicely.

I was emotionally drained from this battle, so I decided to descend the mountain immediately.

What I learned from this experience:

The mountains are dangerous.

At the very least, I should better prepare my equipment before entering the mountains again.

I will focus on gathering food from the sea.
