Chapter 1

"96, and this one makes 97."

As usual, I hunt slimes in the dungeon.

This is Dungeon Number 777, commonly known as the 'Unlucky Hall.' It is a single-layer cave-type dungeon that appeared in the seventh year after dungeons began appearing on Earth.

The only monster that appears here is one type: the world-famous weakest monster, the 'Blue Slime.' These slimes can't use magic, are extremely weak against physical attacks, and as long as you pay attention to the occasional leap, even a child can easily defeat them. When dungeons first appeared on Earth, they caused chaos worldwide, but by the seventh year, every country had a very calm response, and with the accumulated knowledge, they had the leisure to thoroughly investigate each dungeon. People came here because of the novelty of the number and the unique environment where there was no boss and only one type of monster, and at the time, it was bustling with adventurers and researchers who thought "there must be something here."

However, it has now become a very unpopular dungeon where the sound of crickets can be heard.

I have been coming to this dungeon continuously for three years since graduating from high school.

The reason I started coming here was that the only monsters I could properly defeat were slimes.

After the appearance of dungeons, all humans gained the ability to view their own 'Status.' The status has seven categories: 'Strength, Dexterity, Toughness, Agility, Magic, Intelligence, and Luck.' Some statuses can be improved by exercising or enhancing artistic sensitivity, but the main way to grow is by defeating monsters and 'Leveling Up.' This increases base stats significantly, and by using the 'SP' gained at that time to boost the desired abilities, one can become stronger and stronger. However, 'Luck' does not grow by leveling up and can only be improved by consuming 'SP.'

"98, 99. ...Phew, let's take a break. I always get nervous when I come here."

In my case, however, my initial 'Status,' the stat increases from leveling up, and the 'SP' were all far less than those of others.

First, the basic status of a healthy adult male is usually around 5 to 10 in all categories, but mine was all below that. Indeed, I was not good at studying or sports...

Next, when leveling up, other people's various statuses increased by 1 to 5 each time, but mine only increased by 1 in all categories.

Finally, the 'SP' gained when leveling up should be around 5 to 8, but I only got 2.

Because of this, I couldn't even defeat a goblin, which was said to be the second weakest monster, in less than 5 minutes.

And after these three years of continuously hunting slimes, my status is as follows:

*****

Name: Shota Tenchi

Age: 21

Level: 31

Strength: 34

Dexterity: 34

Toughness: 34

Agility: 34

Magic: 32

Intelligence: 32

Luck: 60

Skills: None

*****

My 'Dexterity, Toughness, and Agility' started at just 4, and my 'Strength, Magic, Intelligence, and Luck' were all 2. So, when I leveled up from 1 to 2, I allocated 2 points to Strength to increase my attack power.

Even then, I couldn't defeat a goblin satisfactorily, so I continued to hunt slimes.

Then, one day, I realized something.

A secret of this dungeon.

That is, when you 'defeat 100 slimes in a row after entering the dungeon,' there is a chance that a different type of slime will spawn.

"...Alright, the 100th one!"

As always, I pray as I defeat the slime. Then, instead of the slime that disappears into the dungeon, a different slime appears.

"Great, it's a 'Light Blue Slime'!"

Actually, such a monster doesn't exist. When I first recognized its existence, I searched through all the monster encyclopedias in the world, but there was no light blue slime. So, I simply named it that.

Since I realized this rule, I have been using 'SP' to thoroughly increase 'Luck,' which was called a 'dead status.' Although increasing 'Luck' doesn't change my actual abilities, and the slight stat increases from leveling up don't make battles much easier, I felt that the more I increased 'Luck,' the higher the chance of encountering a 'Light Blue Slime.'

If I were to share this information, I might become a sensation overnight, even though I've been struggling. I had such a temptation, but I quickly dismissed the idea. Because if I did, my hunting ground would be taken over by someone else... and the future of this dungeon would be taken from me.

As usual, I cut down the 'Light Blue Slime.' Since my 'Luck' increased, I encounter it with about a 60% chance when I complete the '100 Slime Routine.' It's not that rare anymore.

After the 'Light Blue Slime' disappears, another slime appears.

"Great, it's a 'Green Slime'!!"

I feel like I encounter this one with about a 30% chance after defeating a 'Light Blue Slime.' I want to know the limits of what comes next. This is my hunting ground, a dungeon that has been abandoned by everyone. So, I will uncover the secrets of this dungeon! I will be the first one to do it. I absolutely don't want to give it to anyone else!

The 'Green Slime' seems to be just as weak as the others, so I cut it down with its slow movements.

After defeating the 'Green Slime,' I encounter the 'Red Slime' with about a 15% chance. After defeating the 'Red Slime,' I encounter the 'Purple Slime' with about an 8% chance. After defeating the 'Purple Slime,' I rarely encounter the 'White Slime.' After defeating the 'White Slime,' I very rarely encounter the 'Black Slime.'

"It's been half a year since I last saw a black one. Ha ha, my hands are shaking. ...Please, please. Show me the next slime...!"

I put my hands together and defeat the black one, which I have only encountered six times. After defeating the black slime, a unique black smoke rises, and something stirs behind it.

"What...? Rainbow!?"

There, a rainbow-colored slime was present.

A rainbow-colored monster, let alone a slime, has never been confirmed to exist. This is a world-class discovery!

"Take a photo... No, I've heard that rare monsters can run away quickly. Even though it's a slime, I've come this far. I absolutely won't let it escape. Take this!"

I perform the same attack I've repeated tens of thousands of times.

The slime is cut down without showing any signs of dodging as usual.

"It's still as defenseless as ever... I guess all slimes are like that?"

The rainbow slime disappears, emitting a rainbow-colored smoke. When the smoke disappears, a shining orb falls to the ground with a 'clunk.'

"...What? A Skill Orb!?"

A Skill Orb is a valuable orb that rare monsters occasionally drop or can only be found in high-difficulty dungeons. I never thought my efforts would be rewarded in this way.

It has been 10 years since the appearance of dungeons, but their rarity has not diminished. With any ability, selling it could make me rich. However, this orb is the result of my solo efforts, and I have no intention of giving it to anyone.

I used the orb without hesitation.

[Do you want to use the Skill Orb?]

"Use it!"

[You have obtained the skill 'Level Gacha']
