Chapter 14

4 min read910 words

Having received the honor of being ranked 1st in the low-fantasy daily rankings, I'm posting three chapters today. (This is the second chapter.)

As promised, with Maki-san and the many envious and jealous adventurers watching, I plunged into the dungeon.

Truth be told, I really wanted to spin the gacha right away, but I hesitated about doing it inside the guild. For some reason, I had a bad feeling.

Upon further reflection, it seemed that the branch manager had somehow overheard the conversation in the meeting room, which was supposed to be soundproof. That building was full of hidden eyes. From now on, I would avoid using the gacha inside that building.

"Well, let's head for that dead-end first."

Due to the event of Maki-san's farewell, I was receiving a lot of attention inside the dungeon, so I couldn't tell who was tracking me. Therefore, I zigzagged through the maze, heading for the dead-end where the 'Hobgoblin' had appeared. I didn't have time to stop, so I ran past the goblins I encountered without collecting items. Based on the information from the map, I chose a route with relatively fewer monsters and avoided the 'Killer Rabbits,' which were difficult to kill on sight. This allowed me to arrive smoothly.

"The tracker... yeah, there seems to be one, but they haven't caught up yet."

Now is the time. I used a skill and pressed the "10 Gacha" button.

*Jingle jingle jingle*

Three red and seven blue appeared. As expected, purple doesn't come out so easily.

But still, I'm grateful for the many reds. No matter what, I always get at least two reds.

"Throwing? It's a throwing skill... but I don't have anything to throw."

*Giggle*

"Huh? Oh, it's a goblin."

I cut it down as usual, and heard a metallic sound from the smoke. It's a bit of a hassle to carry, but it's a valuable item.

"Ah, I can use this."

After replenishing my ammunition in the area, I headed to the second floor.

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

"Wow, it's a beautiful plain."

When I descended the stairs from the first floor, I found myself in a vast plain. The stairs seemed to be at the edge of the map, and if I looked to the side, there was a continuous rock wall. Looking up, it stood vertically, and the sky and depth were endless.

As Maki-san said, this second floor is really vast.

The map distributed by the guild only has vague descriptions. It's no wonder it's difficult to accurately survey such an incredibly large floor.

I tried activating the 'Auto Mapping' skill, and unlike the first floor, the visible area was being written in, in 3D. It's different from a cave.

"This mapping seems to be progressing, but it's hard to say anything without knowing the size... Let's try following the wall for now."

I decided to follow the wall to identify the four corners and fill in the map properly.

"I've heard it's a plain floor, but there are streams and hills. There are exposed rock areas and areas where trees gather, though not a forest. Indeed, it seems challenging to clear this."

I opened my terminal and checked the monsters that appear on the second floor and the rare monsters that have been discovered while walking.

1. Goblin. Mainly appears in the plain and forest. Information on 'Hobgoblin' appearance available.

2. Killer Rabbit. Mainly appears in streams and forests. No rare monsters discovered.

3. Hills Wolf. Appears in packs, mainly in the hills. No rare monsters discovered.

4. Golem. Mainly appears in wide rock areas. Very difficult to spot from a distance. No rare monsters discovered.

"Four types. It's helpful that they are distributed by field. However, it's hard to distinguish the boundary between the plain and the stream. The stream I can see from a distance is almost parallel to the goblins and killer rabbits."

During a continuous hunt, such gatherings are more of a hindrance.

However, the number of killer rabbits seems to be high. Their appearance rate is clearly higher compared to the first floor. I can already spot a few within my line of sight.

Let's aim for the rare slot of the killer rabbits. The lack of discovery information suggests that their appearance rate might be lower than that of goblins.

However, given the map situation, there's still a lack of information on potential hunting grounds for repeated rounds.

I'll continue following the wall to reach the corner of the floor. From there, I'll compare it with the map I have and look for good points.

While defeating the goblins that appeared on my path, I continued to move straight across the plain.
