"Among all the beasts, wolves are the most cunning and ferocious. When hunting, encountering tigers or bears might still allow you to survive, but if you meet a pack of wolves, it’s almost certain death. Don’t think there are only a few; there are many more hiding in the dark, ready to deliver the fatal blow!"

Before Qiaogui could finish speaking, he heard the terrified scream of Chubiao, the bodyguard, which was even more grating than an owl’s cry.

"Get out of my way, all of you, get out of my way!"

Qiaofu glanced over and saw several wolves lurking in the shadows, blocking Chubiao’s path, with more wolves rushing forward.

"Brother Ke, do you know that wolves are more ferocious than other beasts? Some wolves specifically target the anus of their prey. The skin there is the thinnest, and once they bite through, they can pull out the intestines. The prey is still alive but can only watch as its insides are devoured!"

With a cry, Miss Shen’s maid burst into tears. The young girl had never encountered such a terrifying situation; her body went limp, and she collapsed on the ground.

Miss Shen managed to stand, but her shoulders trembled, and her delicate hands clutched her clothes tightly. Despite this, she gritted her teeth and looked out of the fort.

Chubiao was quite shrewd and wanted to escape while there was still a gap in the wolf pack. However, he clearly underestimated the wolves. The wolves on the flanks bit the horse’s legs, while the more experienced ones targeted the horse’s hindquarters. Their sharp fangs tore out a large piece of flesh, along with a section of the intestines.

The horse, in pain, neighed loudly, and Chubiao clung to the reins.

"Run, run!"

No matter how desperately he shouted, the horse remained motionless. Chubiao turned back and saw the most terrifying sight: two wolves had bitten the horse’s hind legs, and two more were attacking the wounds. One grayish-black wolf had pulled out a half-meter-long section of the intestines. The horse could no longer stand and fell to the ground.

Chubiao rolled to his feet, and the small green eyes of the wolves all focused on him.

"Help me, save me!"

Chubiao’s soul fled as he ran back to the fort, the only way to survive.

"Old Wang, save me, we’ve been friends for over a decade!"

Wang, the bodyguard, sneered and said, "Friends for over a decade, and you left me behind? Old Chu, aren’t you the master of the Five Tigers Severing the Gate technique? I was looking forward to seeing you in action!"

Chubiao’s eyes bulged, and he cursed, "You’re full of shit, I’ll kill you!"

Before he could finish, he felt a sharp pain in his back. A wolf had bitten his shoulder, and blood gushed out.

Wang, the bodyguard, laughed coldly, "Hmph, you die first!"

Chubiao desperately shook off the wolf, but three or four more pounced on him. In a moment, Chubiao was covered in blood, one eye was bitten out, and his stomach was torn open, staining the snow red.

"Save, save, me..."

Before he could finish, a wolf’s fangs pierced his neck, and he slumped to the ground, dead. The wolves pounced and began to feast.

Right before your eyes, a living person was devoured, leaving only a few broken bones. The ferocious beasts, still unsatisfied, stared at the people inside the fort with bloodshot eyes.

Zhang Ke swore that this scene was ten thousand times more terrifying than any great white shark or python disaster! Chubiao’s desperate screams and painful struggles lingered in the air.

"Light the fire, we need to guard the gaps and prevent the wolves from getting in!" Zhang Ke turned to see Miss Shen, and his anger flared. If it weren’t for her hiring those unreliable bodyguards, they wouldn’t be in this predicament!

"Women, don’t cause trouble here. Go inside and hide. No matter what happens, don’t come out!"

As he spoke, Zhang Ke grabbed Miss Shen’s arm and the maid’s collar, leading them inside.

Being grabbed by a stranger was a first for the young girl. Whether from pain or anger, tears streamed down her face.

"Little brother, hold on!" Wang, the bodyguard, suddenly stopped Zhang Ke.

"What, do you want to speak for the master?"

Wang, the bodyguard, shook his head quickly, "Little brother, don’t misunderstand. I have a plan to escape. Do you want to hear it?"

"Who doesn’t want to live? What’s your plan?"

Wang, the bodyguard, looked around and lowered his voice, "Little brother, there are seven people left in the fort. You three brothers and I are skilled. I think with our combined efforts, we can break through!"

"You want to run? What about the other three?" Zhang Ke pointed to Miss Shen, the maid, and the old driver, Sun.

Wang, the bodyguard, smiled sinisterly, "The key to escaping lies with them. Do you want to hear my plan?"

"Spit it out!" Qiaofu couldn’t wait and shouted, "The wolves are getting closer, we don’t have much time!"

Wang, the bodyguard, chuckled, "Little brother, no matter how fierce the wolf pack is, they are just beasts. If we let them eat their fill, we’ll be safe!"

"Eat their fill?"

Wang, the bodyguard, gritted his teeth, "We use the other three as bait. They die, and we live. What a good deal!"

"Shameless!"

Miss Shen’s lips turned blue with anger, and she trembled, pointing at Wang, the bodyguard, "Don’t forget our contract. If you harm me, the security agency won’t let you off, and my family will make your life worse than death!"

"Hmph, Miss Shen, at this point, Old Wang can’t do anything. Just accept your fate!"

Wang, the bodyguard, stared at Zhang Ke and smiled, "Little brother, a man who isn’t ruthless isn’t a real man. This girl is no relation to us. Feeding her to the wolves is the best option!"

Hearing Wang, the bodyguard’s words, Qiaofu spat, "How can you be so despicable? They hired you to protect them, not to use them as bait for your own survival. Do you have any humanity left?"

"Whether I have humanity or not is not for you to say. I just want to ask you, do you want to live? Do you have a better plan than mine?" Wang, the bodyguard’s eyes were red, almost like the wolves outside the fort!

Zhang Ke’s brow furrowed. Using women and the elderly as bait was something he couldn’t do. Moreover, running wasn’t a good plan; who knew if the wolves would chase them, making the situation even more dangerous.

But Wang, the bodyguard, was like a madman. If he refused, who knew what he might do. Zhang Ke fell into deep thought.

Miss Shen’s gaze turned to Zhang Ke. Her bright eyes fixed on the young man’s face, filled with hope, grievance, longing, and anger, a mix of emotions.

She hoped this handsome young man would stand up, denounce the villains, and protect her... But perhaps the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.

"Miss, don’t look at me like that, I’m not a good person!" Zhang Ke said to Wang, the bodyguard, "Old brother, you’re really heartless. These two women are your responsibility!"

Miss Shen hoped she had misheard. From the beginning, the young man had been so proud, unafraid of Chubiao’s threats. When the wolves came, he commanded with confidence. The young girl, though she didn’t say it, had placed her hope for survival on him.

But he turned out to be just like Wang, the bodyguard. The young girl, in a fit of rage, found the courage to slap Zhang Ke’s face.

Slap! A large handprint was left on his face.

"Beast, shameless!"

Zhang Ke’s eyes widened. Women were unreasonable. It was Wang, the bodyguard, who had the bad idea, yet he was the one who got hit!

While Zhang Ke was stunned, Wang, the bodyguard, grabbed Miss Shen’s wrist.

"Such a delicate arm, a pity. For our survival, we have no choice. Don’t blame me when you’re in the afterlife!"

"Spit, even if I become a vengeful ghost, I won’t let you off!"

"Still defying me? I’ll send you to the wolves." Wang, the bodyguard, dragged Miss Shen, who struggled and fought, but her punches were like tickles. He dragged her to the gap in the fort.

About thirty meters away, many wolves stared with bloodshot eyes, their sharp fangs gleaming, and their mouths dripping with saliva.

"Ah!"

The young girl had never seen such a scene, her body went limp, and she couldn’t speak.

Wang, the bodyguard, didn’t care, looking at Zhang Ke and the others, he smiled, "Little brother, I’ll wound her, and when the wolves attack, we’ll run. The other two will come with us. If the wolves catch up, we’ll throw them out!"

"Mr. Wang, don’t go too far!" Qiaogui, gripping his waist knife, his teeth grinding, "I’m a man, and if I die, I die. I won’t use a woman to save my life. I can’t do such a despicable thing!"

Wang, the bodyguard, chuckled, "Little brother, do you want to be a chivalrous hero? I advise you, living is the most important."

He looked at Zhang Ke and sneered, "Little brother, if you don’t understand, I’ll enlighten you."

"Old Brother Wang is right. As the saying goes, if you don’t look out for yourself, heaven and earth will punish you. Besides, these people are irrelevant. If they die, so be it. What’s a little conscience worth?"

Zhang Ke said, walking to the center. Qiaogui and Qiaofu were furious, even disappointed and disbelieving.

"Brother Ke, we three should fight our way out. If we die, we die. Doing such a thing, how can we face our families?"

"Right, Zhang Ke, I don’t agree either!"

Hearing his brothers’ words, Zhang Ke slowly turned around, blinked, and smiled, "What’s the big deal? As long as no one knows, who will find out? Old Brother Wang, do you think I’m right?"

Zhang Ke patted Wang, the bodyguard, on the shoulder, and Wang, the bodyguard, laughed, "Little brother, you’re a smart one. Nothing is more important than living..."

Before he could finish, Wang, the bodyguard, felt a sharp pain in his side. Looking down, he saw a short sword embedded in his ribs.

"You, you, how..."

"Scum, I’ll never be as despicable as you. The one who should feed the wolves is you!"

Zhang Ke kicked Wang, the bodyguard, out of the fort. He bent down, picked up Miss Shen, and smiled, "Your strength is impressive!"

The sudden change left the young girl dazed. Seeing the handprint on Zhang Ke’s face, she suddenly leaned forward and lightly touched his cheek with her red lips.

"Sorry!"
