Chapter 10

"......"

I was in a daze for a while.

I didn’t come to this world to dominate, but still, I had my dreams.

However, I was faced with a setback right from the start.

After finally pulling myself together, the words that came out (or rather, the thoughts that crossed my mind) were:

(OH... I SEE...)

(Translation: Oh, I see.)

At that moment, I suddenly remembered the words of God.

“I never wanted you to have an easy time.”

I wasn’t angry, not at all, but I felt a strange mix of emotions.

(What is this subtle feeling?

I’m disappointed, but at the same time, I feel a sense of relief. This indescribable sensation.)

As I pondered this subtle feeling, a realization suddenly hit me.

(Ah, that’s it. The former is the disappointment of thinking I could dominate but couldn’t.

The latter is the relief of knowing there’s a limit to what I can do.)

Not being able to use offensive magic means I can’t fight alone.

I am apparently the eldest son of a duke.

If I were to command on the front lines, that would be one thing, but engaging in sword battles with the enemy is out of the question.

In other words, not being able to use offensive magic means I need at least one companion, and I need to value that companion.

(In my previous life, I lost my friends and was a loner and a victim of bullying. Now, I’m being forced to connect with others...

God doesn’t want me to have it easy, does he...

Indeed, this isn’t easy.)

What might be a trivial matter for an ordinary person is different for me.

(Is it telling me to find the solution myself?)

After going through everything, I think it’s well thought out.

In my previous life, if I had obtained a cheat skill, it’s easy to imagine I would have ended up alone again.

Even if I had somehow made friends,

At first, it would be fine. But I would never increase the value or importance of that person to me. To reiterate, I am a man who made mistakes in my previous life by getting carried away.

And if that relationship were to be even slightly damaged, I would surely think:

“I can manage without this guy.”

I would definitely, or rather, almost certainly think that.

That’s not the way to go. I didn’t reject the offer to go to heaven just to live such a life!

When people hear this, they usually think:

“Then why don’t you just stop looking down on them?”

But human feelings aren’t that simple.

I understand intellectually that I shouldn’t look down on others.

But my heart does it on its own. Even though I tell myself not to look down on them, my heart’s evaluation of them never improves.

This happened many times in my previous life.

It’s impossible to stay together while wearing a mask, and eventually, my true self would slip out.

God said he was omniscient.

He probably knew about my character.

So, I’ll say it again.

(Indeed, it’s well thought out.)

(Well, at least I have a clear goal now!

I’ll improve my magic level while also improving my own level. That’s settled!)

But one question remains.

(Why did Father and Mother look so disappointed when they saw this set of skills? They’re not bad, right?

As someone with knowledge from games in my previous life, I think these are pretty good skills.

Not being able to use offensive magic is indeed a pain, but it’s a minor issue.

With support and healing magic, I should be able to push and push and win without much trouble.

In fact, compared to Mother’s stats, I think I’m several levels higher, excluding the level difference...

I don’t get it!

And, what did they talk about yesterday? I’m really curious...)

Even without being able to use offensive magic, I’m confident I was born under fairly good conditions. So when they have a private conversation, I can’t help but think something bad has happened to my abilities, or that my abilities are somehow tied to some religious thing (if such a thing exists).

After all, I’m a man with rarity 10 and 9.

But it wasn’t like they were saying, “A god has been born to us!”

(They clearly sounded disappointed.

They even said something about a creation mistake...

A creation mistake...

Of course, I’m not so fragile that I would be hurt by such a thing, but it still leaves a bad taste.

Mother, who went through so much to give birth to her first child, would be disappointed to hear such a thing...

Hmm... What should I do from here?)

And so, I found myself troubled by the future problems I hadn’t even encountered yet.
