Chapter 14

"New priests haven't appeared in the Church of Care for many years. The Church Academy admits students; if someone can enter the Church Academy, in a few years we will have a new priest. Such a precious opportunity, and you privately gave it to an apprentice from an herbal shop!" Priest Oran said with a face full of anger.
After a pause, Priest Oran continued angrily, "O'Neill is the most devout believer in the church, and he has talent, able to sense divine power. He won't change his faith after being chosen. You actually let that herbal shop apprentice replace O'Neill, who doesn't even have a faith yet. What if he gets taken by another temple! We only have one spot, and the future of the Church of Care will be ruined by your foolish decision!"
"Priest Oran, don't be angry. Too much anger will blind you, making you unable to see the truth. Calm down, sit down, and let me talk to you," Raphael gently patted the ground beside him and said softly.
Although Priest Oran was angry, Priest Raphael had high prestige in the Church of Care. Out of a moment of righteous indignation, he knew about the Church Academy's admission test and the quota for sensing divine power. Because the Temple of Care was the smallest temple with few believers, they only had one spot.
But this one precious spot, which was very valuable for the Church of Care in Moonlight City, which hadn't had a new priest for many years, was given by Priest Raphael to an apprentice from a poor district herbal shop. Upon hearing this news, Priest Oran burst in to question Priest Raphael. However, seeing Raphael's calm and steady expression, he hesitated for a moment and sat down beside him.
"It is all the will of the gods," Raphael said.
"The will of the gods?"
"Yes. That night, when the believers of the Alliance of the Temple of Light were attacked, I was also injured, severely. Do you know why I was able to return alive?" Raphael asked kindly. Although Priest Oran was very rude, directly rushing in and interrupting his prayer, Raphael still spoke calmly and peacefully as usual.
"Was it because of your powerful divine magic?" The anger on Priest Oran's face disappeared, and the "you" in his address became "you."
"No. It was all the will of the gods. Without the favor of the gods, I would already be dead." Raphael seemed to be recalling that night, and his voice, weakened by his severe injuries, became even more steady and deep, with a sacred light appearing on his face.
"The favor of the gods?" Priest Oran was stunned. The favor of the gods? Many believers of Justice and Light were attacked that night, but very few survived. Priest Raphael's injuries were severe, with a wound on his right chest. Normally, a lone priest with such severe injuries would be unable to use divine magic to heal themselves and would die. Priest Oran couldn't think of any other outcome.
But Priest Raphael returned, covered in blood and with torn clothes. When he saw Priest Raphael return alive, the scar on his right chest vividly showed the danger he was in. Everyone couldn't understand how, with such a severe wound to a vital area, Priest Raphael could still use divine magic to heal himself. Moreover, Priest Oran knew that not all injuries could be healed by divine magic. Priest Raphael's injuries should not have been curable by the divine magic he could cast. To heal such severe injuries, what level of healing magic would be required, Priest Oran didn't know.
No matter how the believers and priests of the church asked about what happened that night, Priest Raphael remained silent.
Now, Priest Raphael spoke clearly, and Priest Oran couldn't help but believe him. What else could explain it besides a miracle?
So when Priest Raphael said it was the favor of the gods, Priest Oran had no doubt. But what did this have to do with the Church Academy's admission test?
As if seeing through Priest Oran's thoughts, Priest Raphael smiled gently and said, "The child named Junming is the favor of the gods. After I returned, I thought for a long time. I believe that in my dying moments, I heard the revelation and favor of the gods, which is why I survived. I know you want to strengthen our temple, but besides that child, I can't think of any better choice."
"I hope you are right," Priest Oran seemed to accept Priest Raphael's explanation, but not entirely, knowing he couldn't refute the idea that Priest Raphael was favored by the gods.
"We just need to watch quietly. Everything we do is for the glory of the goddess!" Priest Raphael said, the sacred light on his face becoming even more intense.
Priest Oran left, unable to persuade Priest Raphael. Although he didn't fully believe in the favor of the gods, some things, once decided, left Priest Oran with no choice but to be angry.
In the empty room, Priest Raphael knelt before the statue of the goddess, looking at it devoutly, wondering if the Church Academy's test had already begun. The young man named Junming, what kind of performance would he have? Whether it was the favor of the goddess or his own illusion, the truth would soon be revealed.
Thinking of this, Priest Raphael felt a slight pain in his right chest, deep in his heart.
The pain made Priest Raphael come to his senses, and he immediately became solemn. He blamed himself for his thoughts and doubts, knowing that he must not have any unease or doubt. The favor of the goddess was the best proof, and the wound on his body was the best evidence.
The devout prayer sounded again, and Priest Raphael prayed, "The young man named Junming is the hope of the Church of Care. This is the favor of the goddess, and any doubt is a desecration of the goddess of care."

Jiang Junming stood in the testing area of the Church Academy for a while but couldn't figure out how he was recommended to participate in this test. In the end, he stopped thinking about it, repeatedly testing his body, which showed no changes. On the light brain screen, he saw the light brain analyze and deconstruct divine power, those white and black crescents, but he couldn't sense their existence at all.
He felt even more anxious, wondering if it was because his mental power was insufficient, and the light brain couldn't make him, the "receptor," sense divine power. Thinking of this, Jiang Junming sighed slightly. If the opportunity had come a little later, when he was older and his mental power was more abundant, it might have been better. Unfortunately, some things were not within his control.
