Chapter 29

This is a miracle, to witness it with my own eyes. Although I was not chosen by the Goddess of Care, I can still bask in the light of the miracle. No matter what the cost, it is worth it. O’Neill quickly closed his eyes, cast aside all杂念, and began to pray devoutly. Just a moment ago, he was still resenting the person chosen by the Goddess of Care, which made O’Neill particularly fearful. He could only hope that through his devout prayers, the Goddess of Care would forgive his mistake.

The light fell upon Priest Raphael, whose face initially showed a hint of shock. This time, bringing Jiang Junming to the temple to pray was merely to help him stay true to his heart. After going to the Church Academy, Priest Raphael was certain that Jiang Junming would face more and more irresistible temptations. Whether Jiang Junming could continue to worship the Goddess of Care and stay in the Church of Care after graduating from the Church Academy, Priest Raphael was not entirely confident.

Originally, it was just a feeling and a guess—Jiang Junming was the guidance of the Goddess of Care for him and the church. But Priest Raphael never expected that during the prayer, the Goddess of Care would rarely descend a miracle.

The moment the light fell upon him, Priest Raphael felt the wound on his right chest, which had not yet healed, begin to mend. Even the scabs started to peel off, and new flesh rapidly grew, causing a slight itch. The feeling of life being restored was truly wonderful! Priest Raphael then cast aside all hesitation and doubt, basking in the light of the miracle and praying devoutly.

Priest Oran also sensed the appearance of the light in shock. Is this a miracle? A miracle of the Goddess of Care? That familiar aura confirmed to Priest Oran that this was indeed a miracle. But why did the miracle appear at this moment? Just because of the young man named Junming?

When questioning Priest Raphael, Priest Oran was half-believing and half-doubting what Priest Raphael said. Although he could not accuse Priest Raphael, he did not really believe it.

When he learned that Jiang Junming had shown far greater talent in the Church Academy's entrance test than all the other young men, even surpassing the prodigy of Moonlight City, Little Price, Priest Oran thought that Priest Raphael must have seen the talent of this young man named Junming, and thus said it was the guidance of the Goddess of Care, urging him to take the Church Academy's exam.

But when Priest Oran learned that this young man named Junming had refused the conditions of the two bishops and insisted on staying in the Church of Care, Priest Oran began to believe it. But he still had some doubts, as the Goddess of Care rarely showed miracles, let alone guidance.

When the miracle appeared before him, all doubts and denials turned into blasphemy against the Goddess of Care. Priest Oran was filled with repentance. He should not have doubted the Goddess of Care or Priest Raphael's words. Junming is the guidance of the Goddess to the church, and he will surely make the Church of Care flourish.

Filled with joy, Priest Oran also began to pray more devoutly.

In the southwestern part of Moonlight City, far from the city center, there is a kind of畸形的繁华. Casinos, taverns, and brothels are everywhere. The most common sights here are gamblers who have lost all their coins and drunkards. Various brawls frequently occur, but the city guards rarely intervene, as this is the territory of the Short Sword Guild, which follows the rules of the underworld, not those of the city lord of Moonlight City.

In the middle of all the bustling and luxurious buildings, there stands a prominent building, gilded and lavishly decorated. Even gamblers who are so desperate that they would rob the city guards dare not touch this place. Even drunkards who are completely out of it would walk around it. It's as if there is an invisible rope around it, and passersby hurry by, not daring to look at this building. Sometimes, people would rather take a longer route than approach it. According to local legends, there are ghosts here, and anyone who approaches will have their soul taken away.

It is said that this is the location of the Short Sword Guild, where fierce and terrifying people often come and go. Today, these fierce men are entering and leaving more frequently. The old gamblers and clients who frequent this area can sense that something is happening, and the atmosphere is oppressive. They all become cautious, sensing that something big is about to happen.

Derek was not in the city guard's prison but appeared in the Short Sword Guild. The usually fierce Derek was now crying and trembling, looking very afraid, like a mouse in front of a cat, not knowing when it would be eaten. Derek did not dare to take revenge on Jiang Junming himself, so he came to the guild for help. If he couldn't get this out of his system, Derek felt he couldn't go on living.

In front of Derek, a large man with a full beard was listening absentmindedly, his face full of impatience. His muscles were bulging, and even in stillness, they seemed to exude immense power. A small piece of armor made from some unknown hide on his chest glowed darkly in the light. A scar twisted out from his beard, like a fierce beast ready to pounce. A patch of skin on his neck was covered with a potion, obscuring a tattoo. Under the blurred potion, a tightly clenched fist could be faintly seen, as if it would burst out at any moment.

"Enough!" the large man said. His voice was deep and heavy, echoing in the room. Everyone around him lowered their heads, trembling, not daring to look at the fierce man. Clearly, Derek had already angered the boss, and everyone was afraid of getting involved and being implicated by Derek's stupidity. Being beaten by a child and coming to the Short Sword Guild to complain, this guy had some nerve.

"Sir, it's not a big deal for me to suffer a little, and there's not much to gain from West Street, so losing it is fine. But we can't afford to lose face," Derek said, lowering his head and kneeling before the large man, wiping away his tears. He felt wronged and wanted the boss to help him, but he didn't notice that the boss was on the verge of losing control, nor did he notice the others' reactions, and continued to complain, "It's fine that I was beaten, but..."

As he spoke, the large man in front of Derek suddenly stood up, sending the table in front of him flying to the side, where it shattered. The large man kicked Derek in the shoulder. The sturdy Derek, like the table, was kicked away and rolled a considerable distance.
