After returning home, Zhang Yang ignored Pan Hui, who was watching TV in the living room, and went back to the bedroom to change into a different set of clothes. He also packed a bag with the mask, hat, and glasses he had prepared earlier.

"Boss, are you going out?" Pan Hui was somewhat surprised.

It was already past ten o'clock at night, and the outside was pitch black. Many people had already gone to bed.

Zhang Yang said while putting on his shoes, "I have something to take care of. I'll be back in a day or two. Don't slack off while I'm away. If I find the house dirty when I return, I'll dock your pay."

Pan Hui was furious. Even as he was about to leave, he didn't forget to belittle her.

"I understand," Pan Hui pouted.

Zhang Yang didn't say anything more and hurriedly left, fearing that the longer he stayed, the more likely something would go wrong.

He drove straight to Jin City. The two cities were connected by a highway, and with the sparse night traffic, Zhang Yang drove very fast, entering Jin City by a little after one in the morning. He turned on the navigation system, entered the address Duan Fei had given him, and followed the route. An hour later, he arrived at the power supply neighborhood.

As Duan Fei had described, this neighborhood was about to be demolished. It was well-located, right next to the road, but the outer walls were peeling, revealing the red bricks underneath, making it look dilapidated. If he hadn't heard Duan Fei's instructions firsthand, Zhang Yang wouldn't have believed that Duan Fei would store such important evidence here.

He parked the car under the building and began to put on the prepared items. He wore a wig, mask, and hat, and put on a black windbreaker before cautiously getting out of the car.

The unit door was wooden, and when Zhang Yang pulled it open, it creaked, and the light in the hallway turned on.

Zhang Yang realized that the residents had installed motion-sensor lights in front of their doors, probably because it was inconvenient to enter and exit. Fortunately, it was only the second floor, and Zhang Yang quickly reached the door. He checked the number 201 and confirmed it was the right place. He reached into the mailbox and found a key stuck to the bottom.

Zhang Yang breathed a sigh of relief, pulled out the key, and opened the door. He listened for a moment, hearing no sound, and then turned on the light and walked in.

The house was small. After entering, Zhang Yang found the living room was tiny, only a few square meters, with a dining table and no other furniture. The two bedroom doors were tightly closed.

Zhang Yang turned on the lights in the bedrooms and began to search. The room had little furniture, which seemed to be left by the previous owner. The TV was an old 21-inch model. Under the TV stand, in a box containing manuals, there were two USB drives and a notebook.

The USB drives couldn't be viewed, so Zhang Yang opened the notebook. It appeared to be Duan Fei's diary, written in a messy scrawl with many misspellings. However, it clearly recorded the tasks Xiang Fei had assigned him. Surprisingly, the diary entries started in 1998.

This meant that Duan Fei had been preparing an escape route from the beginning!

Zhang Yang closed the diary and looked around the shabby apartment. Was this all there was?

As the most important of Duan Fei's three hideouts, there was nothing else besides the notebook and USB drives. Thinking about this, Zhang Yang began to search thoroughly. If Duan Fei used this as his final refuge, he would certainly have prepared some money.

He searched the wardrobe, bedside table, and kitchen cabinets but found nothing.

Zhang Yang, drenched in sweat, sat on the bed, took out a cigarette, and lit it. He tried to put himself in Duan Fei's shoes. Where would he hide these things so they wouldn't be discovered?

The floor was cement, so it couldn't be hidden there. He had already searched the wall cabinets and found nothing. What else hadn't he searched? Zhang Yang frowned and suddenly noticed the mattress under him.

That's odd, everything else is old, but why is the mattress new?

Zhang Yang's spirits lifted. He used his ability to look under the bed.

Seeing the scene below, Zhang Yang couldn't help but laugh.

The bed was an old wooden one with a cabinet beside it. Normally, when the cabinet door was opened, it appeared empty. However, this was just a cover. Through the mattress, it was clear that Duan Fei had installed a wooden board at one-third of the bed's length, hiding two safes inside.

Under normal circumstances, if someone opened the cabinet and saw nothing, they wouldn't think to lift the mattress. If Zhang Yang hadn't had his ability to see through the mattress, he would have just opened the cabinet and seen nothing.

Duan Fei was indeed meticulous.

Zhang Yang rolled up the bedding and placed it on the floor, then lifted the mattress and took out the two safes. These were ordinary safes, and Zhang Yang didn't bother guessing the combination. He went to the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and cut open the safes from the back.

After cutting them open, Zhang Yang found that the first safe contained money, both new and old bills, totaling several hundred thousand yuan. There was nothing else.

When he opened the second safe, Zhang Yang chuckled.

Inside were three red property deeds, a CD, several sets of keys, gold necklaces and rings, and a red USB drive and a voice recorder. Most eye-catching were the several ID cards with different names, all with Duan Fei's photo.

What a clever Duan Fei, hiding so deeply. With fake IDs, cash, jewelry, and property, he would have fled the country as soon as he was released from prison. Unfortunately, his plans were in vain because Zhang Yang had no mysterious boss behind him. This was all a ruse to get Duan Fei to reveal these things.

Zhang Yang looked at the three property deeds. One was for this house, another was a new one, probably recently purchased by Duan Fei. The third was in the neighborhood where Zhang Yang had rented a house.

However, Duan Fei had deceived Zhang Yang. The three properties were not in Duan Fei's name but in the names on his fake IDs.

Zhang Yang emptied the contents of the two safes, found an old backpack in the cabinet, and packed everything inside. He left the safes on the floor, not worrying about them being discovered since the house would be his soon.

With the backpack in hand, Zhang Yang locked the door and left the power supply neighborhood. The entire process took less than half an hour.

By the time Zhang Yang returned to the capital, it was already dawn.

After a busy night, Zhang Yang was still in high spirits. The money was a minor gain; the important thing was the evidence. With this evidence, he could do many things. The thought of making Wang Yunlai and Xiang Fei look bad made Zhang Yang laugh.

However, all his good mood vanished when he reached his front door.

His key wouldn't open the door; Pan Hui had locked the security door from the inside.

Zhang Yang angrily pounded on the door, and after a long time, Pan Hui finally opened the security door.

"What's wrong with you, locking the door like that?" Zhang Yang scolded.

Pan Hui, feeling wronged, said, "You went out, and I was scared being alone."

"Scared of what? With your bear-like appearance, unless someone is blind, who would want you?" Zhang Yang sneered.

Pan Hui glared at Zhang Yang.

"Still不服气 (unconvinced)! Look at you, no chest, no butt, and wearing such old-fashioned underwear. Even a good person would lose their appetite seeing you." Zhang Yang taunted.

Pan Hui said nothing and turned to go to the bedroom, nearly bursting with anger. Most women couldn't tolerate such insults, let alone her, who had a good figure. Pan Hui decided to change into a more sexy set of lingerie to show this toxic-tongued man her figure.

By the time Pan Hui came out wearing a sexy lace lingerie set, Zhang Yang had already returned to the bedroom.

After driving all night, he was exhausted and fell into a deep sleep.

Pan Hui listened to Zhang Yang's snoring and looked at her sexy outfit, feeling powerless as she returned to her room.

Zhang Yang was woken from his sleep by the urgent ringing of his phone. He reached for the phone with his eyes still closed, "Who is it?"

"Zhang Yang, it's me," Hong Yaqin said.

Zhang Yang opened his eyes, sat up, and asked, "Yaqin, what's up?"

"I just received a message from Tongtong. Duan Fei is dead," Hong Yaqin said.
