This meeting with Lingwei's mother went very well, with both of them playing their parts perfectly, fulfilling her mother's last wish. For this, Lingwei was very grateful to Luo Tai. As they walked out of the hospital gate, Lingwei was still expressing her gratitude. At that moment, Luo Tai's watch vibrated slightly. He looked down to check: "A kind lie, fulfilling the wish of a dying person, rewarded with 30 points of merit, total merit points now 85."
Wow, Luo Tai didn't expect that such an act could earn him merit. It was just a simple act, nothing more than a performance with Lingwei.
Hearing Lingwei still thanking him, Luo Tai shook his head and said, "Now that you've taken care of things here, are you going back to the mountainous area?"
Lingwei nodded affirmatively and then said, "My mother doesn't have many days left. I came back this time to see her off properly."
"You've really had a tough time," Luo Tai said. "Can you tell me about your school in the mountains?"
Lingwei smiled at Luo Tai and then said, "What, are you interested in the children in the mountains?"
Luo Tai scratched his head and said, "Just asking out of curiosity."
"Alright," Lingwei nodded. She looked around and pointed to a garden in the hospital, saying, "Let's take a walk over there."
"Okay," Luo Tai agreed.
As they strolled through the hospital garden, Lingwei told him many stories about the mountains. Luo Tai could tell that although Lingwei's life there was hard, she was very happy.
"How many teachers are there in your middle school?" Luo Tai asked.
Lingwei shook her head and said, "Not many. Besides me and him, there are only four or five others. Our school is very simple, and we have no funds. Who would want to go there?"
"Shouldn't the government support and help schools in such mountainous areas?" Luo Tai asked.
Sighing, Lingwei said, "There are many such places in our country, and the government can't manage them all. The Yimeng mountainous area is already very poor, so it's already quite good that we can maintain a middle school."
Luo Tai frowned and asked, "The new semester has already started. Does the school need any help now?" Lingwei was taken aback because she could tell from Luo Tai's tone that he seemed genuinely willing to help the school.
However, she quickly dismissed the thought because her aunt had told her about Luo Tai's situation. He was an orphan and a regular electrician, and it was already good that he could support himself.
Seeing that Lingwei didn't respond, Luo Tai continued, "Lingwei, I want to donate some money to your school to improve the facilities. At least, we can get some new desks and chairs for the new semester."
Lingwei was completely stunned...
After a long pause, she said, "This... How can this be? I know you're not a wealthy person, Luo Tai. Where do you have the money to donate?"
Luo Tai smiled and said, "I don't spend much, so I've saved a bit. After seeing your situation, I feel that your dedication is so high, and I'm moved. So, I've decided to help your school once. I don't have much, but it's my way of showing my support."
Tears welled up in Lingwei's eyes. She hadn't expected that this temporary boyfriend, Luo Tai, would not only help her fulfill her mother's wish but also understand her work. There are good people in this world.
She looked into the distance, trying to hold back her tears. After a while, she said, "Luo Tai, you're a good person. I appreciate your kindness, and I thank you on behalf of the school. But... let's talk about the donation slowly. I need to inform the school."
Luo Tai thought for a moment and said, "Alright, I'll wait for you. Make sure the money is used for the children."
Two days later, Lingwei's mother passed away. On that day, Luo Tai handed her a bank card with 100,000 yuan. He didn't keep a single cent for himself. This time, helping the mountain school was something he did willingly because he saw positive energy in Lingwei!
He believed that Lingwei would use the money for the children.
When Lingwei accepted Luo Tai's kindness, his watch vibrated again. This time, the system rewarded him with 200 points of merit, bringing his total to 288 points.
Lingwei was Luo Tai's last blind date...
Time passed quickly, and before he knew it, he had been back in the city for six days. Luo Tai felt that the most pleasant thing during these six days was helping Lingwei.
Tomorrow, he would enter the movie world again. On that day, he would also accompany Sun Fat to Liu Yifei's signing event.
Over the past two days, he had paid special attention to the entertainment section of the Jibei Daily. Liu Yifei's schedule in Jibei was very tight, only about half a day. They would arrive by plane at noon, start the brand promotion at 3 PM, and have a fan signing session at 4 PM. Then, they would fly back to the capital at 10 PM.
Sun Fat had prepared thoroughly for this day, changing into new clothes in Liu Yifei's favorite color, as if he were going on a blind date with her.
Luo Tai, on the other hand, was very casual. After all, he knew he was just accompanying Sun Fat, purely as a sidekick. However, being able to see a popular domestic female star up close was not bad, especially someone like Liu Yifei, a representative of the pure and innocent type.
At around 1 PM the next day, Sun Fat dragged Luo Tai to the event venue, the Wanda Plaza in Jibei City. Luo Tai kept complaining that the event didn't start until 3 PM, yet they had to come at 1 PM.
However, when they arrived, they found that they were not early at all. The Wanda Plaza was already crowded with people, mostly young people holding large photos of Liu Yifei and waving them.
The Wanda Plaza had already started warming up the crowd. The organizers had invited singers and dancers, who were performing on stage with loud music. The fans below were screaming along.
Luo Tai and Sun Fat spent two hours in this crowded and oppressive environment. At 3 PM, a middle-aged man in a blue suit, presumably a representative of the company, walked onto the stage. He took the microphone from the host and began speaking.
No one was interested in his speech, which was just advertising. So, while he spoke, the crowd below buzzed with their own conversations. After about ten minutes, he finally said, "Let's give the warmest welcome to the multi-talented star, Liu Yifei."
"Whoosh~~~" The crowd surged, and screams echoed. Fortunately, the security was well-prepared, or the crowd would have rushed the stage.
Amid the screams and shouts, Liu Yifei emerged from the red carpet at the back of the square. She was wearing a red evening gown, with flowing hair and a charming smile. She waved to the fans as she walked to the stage. Once on stage, she picked up the microphone and said, "Hello, Jibei friends, I'm Liu Yifei. How are you?"
"Great~~~" The crowd responded in unison.
Sun Fat, excited, craned his neck and kept saying to Luo Tai, "This time, I finally saw her in person. Isn't she even more beautiful than on TV?"
Luo Tai, already drenched in sweat from the crowd, didn't look at the stage. He just said to Sun Fat, "I won't come with you to such events in the future, no matter what."
Sun Fat ignored him and kept waving to Liu Yifei on stage. Luo Tai thought, "If Sun Fat isn't a brain-dead fan, then there are no brain-dead fans in the world."
Liu Yifei chatted with the host, promoting the brand and interacting with the fans. Then, accompanied by staff, she walked back to the red carpet.
The entire event lasted about thirty minutes. The next activity was the signing session in the square hall.
As Sun Fat had said, not everyone had the chance to participate. The hall was filled with security and police, who had set up barriers. The 100 selected fans were neatly lined up, holding photos, clothes, and other items for signing.
Luo Tai could only watch from outside the barriers. Sun Fat, while in line, kept waving his photo at Luo Tai. Luo Tai could only smile bitterly.
Liu Yifei sat at a long table in the middle, always smiling. She had changed out of her evening gown into a white casual outfit, looking very relaxed.
She signed for each fan who came up. Sun Fat was about 70th in line, and as the people in front of him left the hall, he became increasingly excited, knowing it would soon be his turn.
Being so close to his idol was something he had always dreamed of.
Just as it was about to be Sun Fat's turn, a middle-aged woman approached Liu Yifei, whispered something in her ear, and then communicated with the current supervisor.
Sun Fat could only watch helplessly...
Then, Liu Yifei stood up and apologized to the fans behind her, saying, "I have an emergency and need to leave immediately. Those who haven't had their items signed can give them to my agent, and I will sign them as soon as possible. I'm sorry." She then left the signing area with her staff.
"Ha ha~~" Luo Tai couldn't hold back his laughter. He saw Sun Fat holding his photo, looking helpless and lost as he watched Liu Yifei leave.
This kid's luck is really bad, Luo Tai thought.
