Chapter 88

Sitting in Teacher Jung Chun-won's studio, Kim Tae-yeon was lost in thought, staring at her phone. Jung Chun-won, who had noticed his student zoning out several times, sighed softly, "Still no reply?"
Kim Tae-yeon turned to look at her teacher, Jung Chun-won, and after a while, shook her head, remaining silent. The incident had happened so suddenly, but Kim Tae-yeon quickly realized what had gone wrong.
Everything had been set up so carefully, but it all went wrong because of her misunderstanding and stubbornness. Under the angry gaze of Song Hui-in, Kim Tae-yeon was taken away by her father, who had come to the school, and sent to Seoul to practice singing. Later, the loud voice of Lee Ya-won on the phone woke her up. It was only after finally seeing the unread messages that she understood.
Jung Chun-won shook his head as he looked at Kim Tae-yeon. When his student came to practice and the first thing she asked about was not the day's practice content but her vocal cords, he immediately understood what had happened.
That boy was clearly in the middle of his voice change and needed to protect his voice, but his pride didn't allow him to let Kim Tae-yeon, who was also a good singer, know.
As a professional, he should have thought of it earlier. But now that both of them finally understood, the damage had already been done. He himself was also at fault, as Kim Tae-yeon wasn't being particularly stubborn at the time, just a bit confused. If he hadn't encouraged her to be more proactive and firm, perhaps the incident would have passed without incident.
Thinking about it now, it wasn't entirely the boy's fault. He had initially kept it a secret, but later confessed to Kim Tae-yeon. It was Kim Tae-yeon who didn't believe him and insisted on raising the pitch of the song by two octaves after the performance, forcing the boy to sing despite the risk to his vocal cords out of guilt.
Was that it? She even raised the pitch by two more octaves, causing him to break his voice unintentionally, which led to real damage to his vocal cords. Apart from thinking that Kim Tae-yeon didn't do it on purpose, he couldn't find any justification for her actions. Apologizing to the boy was the least she could do. Was it surprising that the boy wasn't replying to her messages?
"There will be a time to meet again. Apologize in person then," Jung Chun-won patted Kim Tae-yeon's head to comfort her.
Her guilt was evident, as she was a child with a great talent for singing. Where did that talent lie? Mostly in her vocal cords, her voice, her singing voice.
She knew better than anyone how important a good voice was to a singer. Today, because of her stubbornness and so-called improvisation, she had caused harm to someone else. And that someone was a trainee aiming to debut.
For the first time, Kim Tae-yeon had no heart for practice, and for the first time, Jung Chun-won didn't urge her. They just sat there in a daze. This wasn't entirely unrelated to Jung Chun-won, as although he didn't know the boy, his encouragement and advice had contributed to the incident. He couldn't help but feel regret and sorrow.
It wasn't necessarily regret for the boy, but for his own encouragement that led his student to act this way. Otherwise, with Kim Tae-yeon's character, she would have waited for an explanation until the end, rather than being so rebellious during the performance.
But what Jung Chun-won didn't know was that Kim Tae-yeon wasn't acting out of spite for the boy. It was because of someone she had never met but had communicated with several times, someone who was special to her, both at school and in her life.
They sat in a daze until it got dark. Jung Chun-won didn't bring up the matter again, instead trying to distract her and lift her spirits until her father came to pick her up.
In the car, Kim Tae-yeon's father asked, "No reply?"
Kim Tae-yeon shook her head slightly, lowering her head and fiddling with her phone.
Kim Tae-yeon's father didn't blame her, as he knew his daughter, who had left home to study and practice singing in Seoul, wasn't the type to act without considering the consequences. When he picked her up, he sensed something was off at the school.
It seemed something had happened. When he greeted the teacher in charge of Kim Tae-yeon's class, he learned the details of the incident, which involved his daughter.
If not for Lee Soo-young coming and scolding Moon Jung-woo backstage, Lee Ya-won, Song Hui-in, and Principal Choi might not have known how much damage the song had caused to Moon Jung-woo's vocal cords.
But the facts were clear when Moon Jung-woo clutched his throat and fell to the ground, combined with Kim Tae-yeon's impromptu pitch raises and Lee Soo-young's earlier scolding. The principal, Song Hui-in, and Lee Ya-won now understood the whole story. Wasn't that enough?
Kim Tae-yeon's father apologized, but the victim was no longer there, and this wasn't a criminal matter, so Kim Tae-yeon was taken away by her father.
"Ding, ding." Her phone suddenly buzzed with a message.
Kim Tae-yeon's face lit up, and she quickly opened the message. But her joy quickly faded.
Kim Tae-yeon's father, driving, didn't see her face but asked, "Is it your classmate replying?"
Kim Tae-yeon shook her head slightly and said softly, "It's Ya-won. She's warning me not to go to school because a senior wants to teach me a lesson."
Kim Tae-yeon's father frowned, "Why would that happen? You didn't do it on purpose."
Seeing her daughter lower her head without a word, he thought for a moment and then smiled, "Don't worry. I'll take you to school tomorrow and talk to your teacher. He'll look after you."
Kim Tae-yeon coughed lightly and looked up at her father, "No, Dad. I need to face this myself."
Kim Tae-yeon's father scolded, "What do you mean face it? No being stubborn. Listen to me, I'll take you tomorrow."
Kim Tae-yeon didn't say anything more, just absentmindedly caressed her phone and looked out the window. Her father, seeing her like this, couldn't help but worry.
Everything would have to wait until they saw her teacher the next day. The car drove at its usual speed, the weather the same as always, but both father and daughter were in low spirits, influenced by Kim Tae-yeon.
When Moon Jung-woo, lying in bed, saw Lee Soon-gyu enter the room the next afternoon, he couldn't help but laugh.
Even though it hurt his throat, he couldn't help it. Lee Soon-gyu's face was still tear-streaked, and his pouting,

When Moon Jung-woo, lying in bed, saw Lee Soon-gyu enter the room the next afternoon, he couldn't help but laugh.
Even though it hurt his throat, he couldn't help it. Lee Soon-gyu's face was still tear-streaked, and his pouting,委屈的小脸看起来就像只小猫,哪有小狮子的威风模样?
"Hey... cough, cough. Did you get beaten up?" Moon Jung-woo asked as Lee Soon-gyu put his daily toiletries aside and leaned in to ask.
Lee Soon-gyu rolled his eyes, put the things away, and then took out a lunch box and placed it in front of him, "Eat, and stop laughing."
Moon Jung-woo opened the lunch box and saw the fragrant food inside, which wasn't lacking in meat but was quite light, "Nuna... you looked so... cute just now. I never knew... you had this side."
Lee Soon-gyu glared and snatched the lunch box away.
Moon Jung-woo quickly smiled and took it back, "I also... got beaten up... on my back."
Lee Soon-gyu was taken aback, looking at Moon Jung-woo who was winking at him, and couldn't help but laugh.
Moon Jung-woo squinted his eyes in a smile, and seeing Lee Soon-gyu laugh, he started eating.
Lee Soon-gyu stared at him, and after a while, she playfully hit him, almost dropping the spoon.
"Didn't I tell you not to sing, but you insisted? Now look what happened!"
Moon Jung-woo pulled the corner of his mouth in a half-smile, but it didn't seem like he was taking it seriously.
Lee Soon-gyu paused, then stood up angrily, "I heard that the girl you were working with did it on purpose?! She was already told that your voice was in the changing period and couldn't handle high notes, but she still raised the pitch by several octaves and broke your voice!"
Moon Jung-woo frowned and shook his head, "It was... an accident."
Lee Soon-gyu was furious, "Don't give me that. When you're working on a whole song and have built up a rapport, who can resist continuing to sing? If your voice was normal, it might be okay, but with an abnormal voice, you would subconsciously follow her pitch..."
Lee Soon-gyu suddenly paused, frowning at him, "You're not serious, Moon Jung-woo?! Where did your intelligence go?! I heard that you already sang a high note with her, and your voice broke when she raised it again."
Moon Jung-woo laughed and interrupted her, "This has... cough, cough, nothing to do with intelligence... You just said... she led the pitch up."
Suddenly silent, Lee Soon-gyu pouted, and couldn't help but choke up again.
Moon Jung-woo frowned at her, seeing her red eyes, and she looked up, "But what about your voice? Are you just going to go home like this?"
Moon Jung-woo stopped chewing, his smile fading. He put the lunch box aside and fell silent, not saying another word.
