Ch262 - Finding the Basement

Ten days later,

At the cost of sacrificing all the Spiritual White Rabbits and three thousand spirit insects, Liu Mufeng and Jiang Xu finally walked outside the gates of the Golden Light Palace with bruises.

Standing at the door, looking at the words “Golden Light Palace” on the plaque, Liu Mufeng nodded and directly used spiritual power to push open the Palace door.

“Creak…”The double doors opened from the middle slowly, and the scenery inside the Palace was exposed in front of their eyes.

This Golden Light Palace was not as gorgeous as Liu Mufeng had imagined, but it was very ordinary and simple. On both sides of the main hall, there were four servants standing tall and straight. These four were fifth-level puppets, wearing the clothing of the Tianyan Clan, and their appearances were also made according to the images of the cultivators of the Tianyan Clan. With the expertise of Tianyan Clan’s Puppet Masters, these four looked a lot like four real people.

Further inside was a table made of unknown materials. There was a tea set on the table and a chair behind the table. The Palace hall was very spacious, but the furnishings were very simple and sparse. Come to think of it, this Great Elder was a hard-working and simple person.

Injecting his soul power into a puppet’s soul bead, Liu Mufeng easily erased the puppet’s soul imprint. After that, Liu Mufeng erased the soul imprints of the other three puppets one by one.

Jiang Xu was very happy to see the four puppets bowing their heads towards his man, “Can we go in, Mufeng?”

“Wait a minute.” As he spoke, Liu Mufeng turned his head and looked at the Palace doors on the left and right sides. After searching carefully for a long time, he finally found a unique one on the many raised golden knots on the door. Liu Mufeng slowly turned a knot and pressed it down. With a barely noticeablewhirr, the trapping mechanisms in the Palace were closed.

“Let’s go.” Looking at his wife, Liu Mufeng smiled, and walked into the Palace with his lover.

As soon as the two entered the Palace, the Palace door was immediately closed.

Turning around, seeing the closed Palace gate behind him, Jiang Xu couldn’t help frowning. “Mufeng, the gate is closed.”

“En, we can’t get out the way we came. We have to find another way to leave.” Liu Mufeng said to his lover helplessly.

“Oh, so that’s it.” Nodding, Jiang Xu expressed his understanding.

Taking unhurried steps, the husband and wife walked around the inside of the Palace.

“Ei, this Great Elder is too poor. Apart from this table, chair and tea set, he has nothing else.” As he spoke, Jiang Xu put away the things sullenly.

“There should be other rooms, let’s look for them again.” Looking at his depressed-looking lover, Liu Mufeng said so. According to the description in the original book, Liu Mufeng knew that there were three basements under the main Palace. It’s just that it was not easy to tell his lover how he knew that there were three basements.

“Yeah, that’s right. The Great Elder should have a practice room for seclusion and rest. Besides, he is a Mechanism Master, so he should have a room for making mechanisms. There would be at least two rooms for thisah.” After thinking about it, Jiang Xu felt that there should be two more rooms.

“You money addict.” Seeing his wife’s excited and wide-eyed appearance, Liu Mufeng smiled helplessly.

“Mufeng, let’s find the rooms.” Jiang Xu urged anxiously.

“Don’t worry, let’s treat the wounds on our bodies first, heal them first and then find the other rooms, otherwise we won’t be able to deal with powerful puppets and traps at all.” Now they were already at the end of their strength, if they encountered powerful sixth-level puppets, he simply had no strength to fight back.

“En, that’s right, let’s recuperate first.” Nodding, Jiang Xu agreed.

A month later,

After recuperating for a month, both Liu Mufeng and Jiang Xu recovered from their injuries, but they still couldn’t find the other three rooms.

“Ugh, we have already searched this Palace hundreds of times, but we still can’t find the other three rooms.” Jiang Xu said in a depressed manner, looking at his man.

“Don’t worry, we will search slowly again, maybe we still missed some places.” Saying that, Liu Mufeng came to the four vermilion pillars and began to check.

“Mufeng, what is written on the pillar?” Jiang Xu asked curiously when he saw a lot of Tianyan characters on the pillar.

“It’s about the life and past of the Great Elder. It’s of no value.” Liu Mufeng shook his head.

“Oh.” Hearing what his lover said, Jiang Xu was a little frustrated.

Touching his chin, Liu Mufeng thought for a long time, and finally his eyes fell on the four puppets. “XiaoXu, you say, in this Palace, what else have we missed?”

“What have we missed? Impossible, I knocked all the bricks on the walls one by one.” Shaking his head, Jiang Xu thought it was impossible.

“No, we didn’t search those puppets.” Liu Mufeng pointed at the four puppets.

Jiang Xu froze for a moment, then nodded. “It is true that they have not been searched. But, will they know? Puppets have no memory, right?”

“Let me search them.” As he said this, Liu Mufeng walked up to a puppet and searched carefully. Not long after, a strangely shaped key was found on the puppet’s neck.

“What is this? Is it a key?” Jiang Xu asked curiously as he looked at the strange-shaped thing tied around the puppet’s neck.

“Maybe it’s the key. It’s a word, the characters of the Tianyan Clan. It reads ‘Death, death is death.”

“Death? What do you mean? Why does it have to carry a word?” Jiang Xu couldn’t understand this.

“There is this word on the pillar.” Saying that, Liu Mufeng flew up and directly embedded the word into the groove on the pillar.

“Pa…”The stone slab in front of the pillar opened directly, revealing a crypt.

“Wow, it’s open, there’s a basement.” Seeing the exposed crypt and the stone steps in the crypt, Jiang Xu was overjoyed.

“Come on, let’s go down and have a look.” Liu Mufeng said with a smile.

“En.” Nodding, Jiang Xu walked ahead, instinctively protecting his man behind him.

The two walked down thirty steps and descended into the basement. Looking at the scene in front of him, the corners of Jiang Xu’s mouth twitched wildly.

This basement exuded a strong stench. There was a pool on the east side, filled with black foul-smelly water, it was Dust Cleansing Water, and there were two puppets, throwing corpses into the pool one by one, including the rabbits used by Liu Mufeng to test the mechanisms along the corridor, the demon beasts used by other cultivators to test the mechanisms, and the other cultivators who followed Liu Mufeng and Jiang Xu to walk through the Golden Gate; unfortunately all died in the end.

The two puppets still had the appearance of the cultivators of the Tianyan Clan, and the level of the two was not high, only fourth-level. They didn’t seem to see Liu Mufeng and Jiang Xu, and they were still helping with the work in their hands. Obviously, this was an order given to them by their Master. Dispose of the corpse, do not attack.

On the west side of the pool, there was a half-person-high mound with piles of storage rings, storage belts, storage necklaces, storage bracelets, as well as a variety of magic weapons. On the South side of the pool was a chute from where the corpses slipped down from some areas outside and were dragged by the puppets, the storage items and magic weapons were removed , and thrown into the pool.

“This should be a place to dispose of corpses.” Looking at the scene, Jiang Xu said so.

“En, no wonder the key is the word ‘death’.” Looking at the situation here, Liu Mufeng nodded affirming their thoughts.

“Mufeng, I, I want those.” As he said that, Jiang Xu pointed to the pile of storage props half a person’s height longingly.

“Okay, I’ll try to see if I can recover these two puppets first. After recovering them, it will be safer for us to take those storage props.” Although these puppets were only fourth-level, it would still be good to take them back to clean the room, feed the spirit insects, and do some miscellaneous work.

Unleashing his own soul power, Liu Mufeng directly penetrated into the puppet’s soul beads, erasing the soul marks of the two puppets, and then imprinted his own mark on them.

Seeing that the two puppets stopped their work and stood there dumbly, Jiang Xu knew that his lover had succeeded. He hurried over and collected the pile of storage props.

After looking at the two puppets, Liu Mufeng walked over to the black water pool and looked at the Dust Cleansing Water in the pool. Then, he took out a large bathtub from his bracelet dimension.

“Mufeng, what are you doing? You don’t want this stinky water, do you?” Looking at the wooden tub, Jiang Xu asked with a strange expression.

Liu Mufeng nodded. “This is a good thing. It’s very lethal. Think about it, if we meet someone we can’t beat and wants to kill us, what will happen if we pour this bucket of water on them?”

Hearing this, Jiang Xu’s eyes widened and couldn’t help swallowing a big mouthful of saliva. “Splashing Dust-Cleansing Water on a living person, then, wouldn’t that hurt and kill the person?”

“Yes, so this is a good thing.” Liu Mufeng directly released his soul power to guide the water in the pool to fly into the tub.

“Mufeng, is this Dust-Cleansing Water okay to put in a tub?” Jiang Xu asked worriedly.

“Don’t worry, nothing will happen. This thing only corrodes flesh and bones, not wood.” As he spoke, Liu Mufeng took out a special interspatial ring, and put the large bucket full of

Dust Cleansing Water into it. Afterwards, Liu Mufeng took out two more large bathtubs, and filled them with Dust Cleansing Water until he was satisfied with the amount he had taken.

Seeing that his lover had collected almost half of the Dust Cleansing Water from the pool, Jiang Xu couldn’t help but hook the corner of his mouth.

Putting away the mound of storage props and weapons and the Dust Cleansing Water. Liu Mufeng and Jiang Xu took the two puppets and left the basement where the corpses were disposed of.
