Ch288 - Prepare for the Match

Edited by Zaki

After returning to the room, Liu Mufeng began to clean his Pill Furnace to prepare for the competition in three days. Jiang Xu took out the messenger jade pendant and directly told his Master and Senior Brother about it.

“Mufeng, Master said that he would send a Senior disciple under the First Elder to preside over this competition. He said that he hoped you would not lose the competition. Otherwise, he would lose face.” Jiang Xu said helplessly.

Liu Mufeng nodded. “Don’t worry, I’m 70% sure.”

“En.” Jiang Xu’s confidence also greatly increased after hearing his lover’s words.

“However, Senior Brother said that Fang Xing and Liao Shanshan are very powerful, and also passed me their information, saying that both of them are alchemy geniuses in the Lingyun Sect, especially Fang Xing, his alchemy skills are very powerful and he is known as the number one alchemist of the Lingyun Sect.”

Liu Mufeng nodded. “I had already guessed this. Fang Xing is 1,258 years old this year, with a five-star cultivation in the Spiritual Profound Realm, and Liao Shanshan is 936 years old this year, with a three-star cultivation in the Spiritual Profound Realm. Both of them are stronger than me, and their alchemy skills should naturally not be too bad. In addition, their arrogant nature, their words and mannerisms revealed their contempt and disdain for me, which showed that these two must be genius disciples in their sect. They are the kind of people who are spoiled by others.”

Looking at his partner, Jiang Xu couldn’t help blinking. “Mufeng, this, have you guessed this?”

“Yes, it’s more than that, I guess that Fang Xing is probably a commoner alchemist, but that Liao Shanshan should be from a big family. It is very likely that she has been nurtured and influenced into alchemy by her Elders since her childhood. Just like Xuanxuan, who has a powerful Grandfather teaching him alchemy since he was a child.” Liu Mufeng laughed when he said this.

“Yes, Senior Brother said that Liao Shanshan’s Grandmother is a sixth-level alchemist. Liao Shanshan has learned alchemy since she was a child, and her family has a very deep background. After arriving in the sect, she shined brilliantly and was accepted as a valued disciple by Jiang Yingxue.” Nodding, Jiang Xu said so.

Liu Mufeng nodded at those words.”To be honest, if I were to compete with them today, I may not win. However, they think too highly of themselves, thinking that they will surely win if they decide the topic. In fact, they are wrong. Compared with the topic, the time and place are actually equally important. A place like the gravity zone is very unsuitable for the kind of alchemist who has had no body training previously. Moreover, there will be a level 7 gale three days later which will increase the resistance of the gravity zone. It is no exaggeration to say that if they have not tempered their bodies, not to mention alchemy, they might even struggle to walk in the gravity zone.”

“It turns out that there will be a gale in three days. No wonder you want to compete with them in three days. Mufeng, you are so smart.” Jiang Xu said with a smile.

Back in the guest room at the Welcome Peak, Jiang Yingxue looked at her two disciples. “Xing’er, Shanshan, are you really determined to compete with Liu Mufeng?”

“However, alchemy in the gravity zone will encounter great resistance, which makes refining almost impossible. Moreover, cultivators above the Spiritual Profound Realm are not allowed to enter the gravity zone, that is to say, it is impossible for Master to enter the gravity zone to watch your competition directly. You can only rely on yourself.” Looking at the two, Jiang Yingxue frowned deeply.

“Master, don’t worry, this disciple will definitely go all out.” Liao Shanshan felt that if she couldn’t refine pills in the gravity area, then Liu Mufeng would not be able to succeed as well, so at most, it would be impossible to tell the winner. It was absolutely impossible for her to lose to that jackass Liu Mufeng.

“Master, don’t worry, my Junior Sister and I can ask Martial Artists from other sects to help us protect the Dharma, and we won’t be in danger.” Fang Xing also felt that it was impossible for them to lose. In the end it might only result in the three of them blowing up their furnaces. He didn’t believe that Liu Mufeng could refine pills in a ghostly place like the medium gravity zone.

Looking at the two apprentices who were full of confidence, Jiang Yingxue shook her head slightly and thought to herself:Xing’er and Shanshan are geniuses in the sect, and their journey in Alchemy had been paved smoothly to this day, they have never tried and failed. In their eyes, no one could win against them. Alchemy has always been their pride capital. This time, the two arrogant apprentices may suffer a lot.

In fact, ever since Liu Mufeng said that he would compete in the medium gravity area, she knew that her two apprentices would definitely lose. It was just that as a Master, she didn’t want to pour cold water on the two of them.

Three days later, the match between the two sides was held as scheduled.

Because of the strong publicity carried out by the Lingwu Sect, no matter the cultivators of Lingwu Sect or other sects, they all knew that Liu Mufeng would compete with two alchemists of the Lingyun Sect in the medium gravity area. Early in the morning, many cultivators with strengths at or below the Spiritual Profound Realm came to the south entrance of the Gravity Mountain Range to buy viewing tickets to watch the match.

In the gravity area, there was not only an area dedicated to selling tickets, but also a betting area, where you could bet on who would win and lose. Many cultivators from the Lingwu Sect and those representatives from other sects who wanted to watch the match also came to bet one after another. Most of the cultivators from the Lingwu Sect bet on Liu Mufeng winning, or bet on a draw. Because many cultivators felt that alchemists like Liu Mufeng, Fang Xing and Liao Shanshan, who had not done body training exercises, could not refine pills in the gravity zone, so if they bet on a draw, they could definitely make a big profit.

Not only the cultivators of the Lingwu Sect but also most of the foreign cultivators, thought this way, they all felt that the three alchemists would not be able to refine pills at all, so a tie was the most likely outcome of this competition.

As the protagonists of this competition, Fang Xing and Liao Shanshan didn’t need to buy tickets, they could directly enter Gravity Mountain. Moreover, there were Martial Arts disciples from Lingwu Sect here who were responsible for guiding the two of them.

After following the disciples who led the way into the gravity area, Fang Xing and Liao Shanshan suddenly felt that just the low gravity area alone was making them breathless. This made them very depressed.

“Two Fellow Daoists, how are you feeling? Do you need any help?” Looking at the two, a disciple of Xingluo Sect asked. This time, the Elder who came from Xingluo Sect was Wu Xiu. The two disciples were also Martial Arts cultivators at the Spiritual Profound Realm, and they had cultivated their bodies since they were young. Therefore, these two people could walk in the gravity zone as if they were walking on flat ground, without any influence at all.

“It’s okay.” Waving his hand, Fang Xing replied.

“What type of hellish place is this? Liu Mufeng actually chose to make alchemy here, he is a lunatic.” Liao Shanshan was very depressed as she spoke about this issue.

“Two Fellow Daoists, this is only the outer area of Gravity Mountain. Your competition venue is in the medium gravity area. Over there, some Martial Arts disciples have built a high platform for the three of you. Moreover, there is a magic tool that can transmit the competition of the three alchemists to the celestial mirror on the big square. So the Seniors who have higher strength than the Spiritual Profound Realm can see the situation of the competition here. At that time, the Sect Master, all the Elders, the Master of the two Fellow Daoists, and all the representative Elders of other sects will be able to see the situation here.” Wu Xiu, who led the way, explained the situation to the two.

“Oh.” Liao Shanshan nodded sullenly. She thought inwardly:How can alchemy be made in such a ghostly place? And to see the images of their alchemy, I’m afraid it’s destined to disappoint the crowd ah!

In fact, from the entrance to the arena, a Martial Artist with good physique could walk there in as little as the time to brew a cup of tea. However, Fang Xing and Liao Shanshan had walked for two hours to reach the arena.

When they arrived at the competition venue, the two were already pale with exhaustion. If it weren’t for the two Martial Artists from Xingluo Sect who secretly helped them along the way, they probably wouldn’t be able to get through the area right now.

Seeing them coming, Liu Mufeng and Jiang Xu greeted them with smiles. “The two Fellow Daoists are here.”

“En.” Liao Shanshan curled her lips and responded coldly.

“Daoist Friend Liu came so early.” Looking at Liu Mufeng standing opposite, Fang Xing smiled. In fact, when he saw Liu Mufeng standing there calmly, he suddenly had a very bad feeling.

“We have just arrived too. Since you are the guests, I will let the two Fellow Daoists choose from the three high platforms here.” Liu Mufeng looked at the two people and said with a smile.

“Okay, I will take this one.” Liao Shanshan pointed to the one in the middle with the best position.

“Then I want the one on the east side.” After looking around, Fang Xing also made his choice.

“Okay.” Nodding, Liu Mufeng landed on the high platform to the west.

Jumping, Liao Shanshan also flew onto her chosen platform. Standing on the high platform, Liao Shanshan’s legs trembled. She almost knelt down on the stage, nearly disgracing herself.

Gritting her teeth unconsciously, Liao Shanshan said in her heart:The gravity of this place is really heavy.

Looking at the half-meter-high platform, Fang Xing did not fly up, but chose the steps and walked up directly. Because he knew that using spiritual energy in the gravity zone could easily cause abnormal performance. If he couldn’t fly up and instead fell down, it would be embarrassing for him and he would lose face.

Seeing the three of them taking their seats, a cultivator wearing Lingwu Sect’s clothing came to the bottom of the ring. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Guo Cheng. I am the referee of this alchemy competition. There is still half an hour before the match time. Please could the three alchemists ready themselves. The first match is between Liu Mufeng and Fang Xing. Refining the sixth-level elixir——Blue Jade Pill. Half an hour after the match, there will be the second match, Liu Mufeng will face off against Liao Shanshan, and the competition will be to refine the sixth-level elixir——Flame Pill. Do the three alchemists have any objections?”

“Senior Brother Guo, I have no problem.” Smiling, Liu Mufeng said that he has no problem.

“Thank you, Fellow Daoist Guo, for letting me know. I understand.” Nodding, Fang Xing expressed his understanding.

“I have no problem either.” Nodding, Liao Shanshan also said that she has no problem.
