Chapter 58

Seoul S Hospital. 8:05 PM

"Are you not going to say anything?"

In the heavy silence, Gweon Hoon finally spoke. On the chair opposite the bed, his only son and young, capable wolf, Siwoo, sat slanted.

"Because I have nothing to say."

Siwoo, who had been staring at his phone, finally spoke indifferently.

It was surprisingly dry in the hospital room, despite the fact that it had been months since the father and son had seen each other.

Gweon Hoon gazed at his son, then sighed deeply and turned his head toward the window.

"Are you going to keep fiddling with your phone even in front of your dying father?"

"......"

"Or are you waiting for a call?"

"......"

"Perhaps from Yira, that Concept Hunter."

Finally, a reaction came from Siwoo, who had maintained a blank expression. His icy blue eyes turned sharply toward Gweon Hoon.

Gweon Hoon, having caught the clear evidence, smiled in satisfaction.

"Is that the right answer?"

"What is your intention?"

"I only heard that you've been hanging around with a Hunter recently. And—."

Gweon Hoon grinned and rested his chin on his hand.

"Isn't your intention to hide something from me?"

The ticking of the clock was particularly sharp in the bone-chilling silence.

Though he didn't want to admit it, their eyes were similar. Transparent blue irises with sharp gazes.

That's why Siwoo hated making eye contact with his father, Gweon Hoon. He couldn't help but realize that he had the same eyes and that he was his son.

"Have you finished the tutorial, and yet you still have no intention of becoming a Hunter? Could it be related to that woman?"

"It has nothing to do with my senior."

Senior, he said. Gweon Hoon's eyes narrowed. Siwoo put his phone in his pocket and added lightly.

"I just found it bothersome."

Bothersome? Another brief silence followed. Of course, Gweon Hoon didn't believe his son.

"You know I don't have much time left."

Siwoo let out a faint laugh at Gweon Hoon's words. So what? His eyes seemed to ask.

When did it come to this?

Perhaps they were cause and effect. Gweon Hoon was the cause, and Siwoo was the result. Therefore, they were the most different and the most similar.

"I don't care if you hate me, but don't hate the wolves."

"......"

"The wolves need you."

Not that woman. Siwoo's eyes changed as Gweon Hoon added this. His father had indeed investigated his senior. If so, he must have guessed why Siwoo was raising the 'Princess of Black Flames.'

But they were father and son. Gweon Hoon knew Siwoo well, and Siwoo knew him just as well.

Reacting now would be counterproductive. Siwoo crossed his legs and leaned back in the chair loosely.

"Do you plan to take care of it?"

He asked bluntly. Gweon Hoon didn't answer. Siwoo laughed as if finding it amusing.

But his eyes weren't laughing.

"Indeed, you are the legendary strongest Hunter. Even lying in a hospital bed, you can still cut throats without a second thought."

"......"

"Will you do it this time too? After all, it's just a matter of bringing her back. Let's see who wins. For a year."

"Siwoo, you—"

"Ah, it's seven months from now, right? Time flies. So, I should plan for what comes after that, right?"

"......What plan are you talking about?"

"Who knows? Do you really need to know?"

Siwoo stood up as if he had nothing more to say. Their similar blue eyes met silently.

"Just take care of yourself, Father."

I don't want to be involved with you anymore. As if saying this, Siwoo left without looking back.

Siwoo immediately checked his phone, which he had put in his pocket.

0 new messages.

0 missed calls.

"Huh."

Siwoo took off his hoodie, not bothering to fix his messy hair, and went down the emergency stairs. He then called someone.

"Hey, it's me. How did it go?"

It seems... I checked, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
