The morning passed quickly. The Perro swordsman focused his attention on those with elemental affinity, while he let those without, like Merlin and Anson, do as they pleased.
With a clap from the Perro swordsman, the morning sword practice ended, and many people began to stand up and prepare to leave.
Mayu looked excited, apparently having gained a lot from the Perro swordsman's guidance that day. She came to Merlin, glanced at Anson, and Anson greeted her somewhat awkwardly: "Miss Mayu!"
"Hmph."
Mayu turned away angrily, ignoring Anson, as if she had a strong grudge against him.
"Let's go, we need to hurry back."
Mayu pulled Merlin and quickly left the church, where Moss was already waiting in the carriage outside.
"See you this afternoon, Merlin!"
Anson, who was following behind, winked at Merlin and then climbed into his own carriage and left the church.
After getting into the carriage, Mayu glared at Merlin fiercely and said angrily, "Merlin, didn't I tell you not to hang out with Anson? When you're with him, you just go around causing trouble..."
It seemed that Mayu didn't like Anson at all and considered him a bad influence on Merlin. However, despite Mayu's harsh attitude toward Anson just now, Anson didn't seem angry; instead, he looked a bit afraid.
So Merlin asked, "Why does Anson seem to be afraid of you?"
"Didn't that kid Anson tell you?"
Mayu looked at Merlin suspiciously, but then she seemed to remember something and nodded, "Right, such an embarrassing thing, Anson wouldn't tell anyone else."
Pausing, Mayu raised her fist and said fiercely, "Last time, Anson took you to hang out with some women, and I found out. I secretly beat him up badly. But it seems that the lesson wasn't painful enough, so he needs another reminder."
Seeing Mayu's smug expression, Merlin was speechless. It seemed his sister had a bit of a violent streak. But thinking about Mayu's terrifying strength just now, it was no wonder Anson was afraid.
The carriage jolted continuously, and the atmosphere inside was somewhat heavy. After a long while, Merlin hesitantly asked Mayu, "Mayu, how do you sense the elements?"
Mayu looked up, surprised, but she thought seriously for a moment and said softly, "It's very simple. Just close your eyes and you can sense them. But I can only sense fire elements. I can't see or touch them, but I can sense them. I can even sense them gradually entering my body. Once they accumulate to a certain level, they will burst with great power!"
Merlin nodded slightly. He quietly closed his eyes and tried to sense the elements as Mayu described, but it had no effect. It seemed that elemental affinity was indeed innate and couldn't be changed. Without elemental affinity, one simply couldn't sense the elements.
Merlin's dream of becoming an elemental swordsman might have to be put on hold.
Soon, the carriage returned to the Wilson Castle. The butler had already prepared a sumptuous lunch, including a golden-brown roasted lamb that emitted a rich meaty aroma.
However, Merlin had no appetite and only ate a little.
Mayu ate with great relish. After almost finishing the entire lamb, she patted her stomach in satisfaction, leaned back in her chair, and looked at Merlin, saying somewhat worriedly, "Merlin, this afternoon I'm going to the church to practice swordsmanship again, so I won't be going to etiquette class. Later, you take Moss's carriage to class, but you must come back before dark. Don't go hanging out with that bad boy Anson again, or else, hmpf, you know the consequences! Father asked me to keep an eye on you before he left."
Seeing Mayu's threatening expression, Merlin nodded lightly. It seemed that the previous Merlin was quite a handful.
Mayu then left the castle. Feeling the weather getting colder, Merlin went upstairs to put on a thick coat before going downstairs and getting into Moss's carriage.
In the carriage, Merlin rubbed his head, feeling a bit of a headache. He had no memory of going to etiquette class in the afternoon, which indicated that his memory loss was quite severe.
Fortunately, Moss was a very honest person. He drove the carriage without saying a word and conscientiously delivered Merlin to the class location.
Merlin got out of the carriage and saw a three-story building in front of him, surrounded by a rusty iron fence. An old gatekeeper was huddled in a corner, half-asleep, but he would open the iron gate as soon as someone arrived.
"Master Merlin, you're quite early today."
The old gatekeeper, wrapped in a tattered coat with a red face from the cold wind, greeted Merlin familiarly.
Merlin, with his severe memory loss, didn't know the old man's name, so he just smiled and nodded, then walked in.
Inside, the place was empty. Merlin walked toward the building, and the wooden stairs creaked under his feet, as if they couldn't bear the weight.
On the walls beside the stairs, there were colorful murals, depicting people, landscapes, and more. The quality varied, and even as a layman in art, Merlin could tell that some of the murals were no better than graffiti.
On the second floor, Merlin wandered around and saw several spacious rooms, empty but filled with instruments like hand drums and organs. This must be where music was taught.
"Hey, Merlin, what are you doing here? We don't have music class today. We have history class today."
Merlin heard a familiar voice and turned to see the red-haired Anson.
Anson grabbed Merlin and led him to the third floor, whispering and winking, "Hurry up, let's get a good seat. I heard we have a new history teacher today, and she's very pretty. It's really something to look forward to!"
Merlin, unsure where to go, let Anson pull him to a spacious room on the third floor.
Inside the room, there were already over a dozen young men and women, all dressed in fine clothes, chatting in small groups. When they saw Merlin and Anson, a chubby boy sitting in the front row waved eagerly.
"Gut, not bad, not bad. You've got a great seat. You're always so enthusiastic when you hear about a beautiful teacher."
Anson smiled and greeted the chubby boy.
