Chapter 4

A light sound came from the door, and the great mage Camilla didn’t even need to look up to know that it was her beloved granddaughter, Stiel, who had entered.

No one else in the magic tower dared to barge in without knocking.

“Grandpa, I’m back,” Stiel’s lively and youthful voice rang out in front of Camilla.

Camilla smiled and looked up, indulgently gazing at the lively Stiel standing before her. Her eyes, however, involuntarily slid from Stiel’s face to the strange, lumpy... iron object she was holding.

“What’s this?” the great mage Camilla frowned.

“It’s something fun I just bought, called a magic fan. Take a look,” Stiel replied with a smile, placing the object on the table in front of Camilla and pressing a protrusion on the base.

“Click—”

After a light sound, the three leaf-shaped objects that Camilla had thought were just decorations began to rotate slowly, and soon sped up, emitting a gentle breeze.

“Is there... a magic array inside?”

As a three-star great mage recognized by the Mage Guild, Camilla’s magical prowess far exceeded that of Rem and others. The moment the magic fan started, she was already sensitive to the most important point from the magical fluctuations within.

“Right, Grandpa, don’t you think this thing is interesting?” Stiel asked.

“It is somewhat interesting,” Camilla reached out and pressed the base of the magic fan, instantly understanding the magic array from the magical fluctuations. She then shook her head. “But it’s just a simple wind vortex array, nothing special.” She glanced at Stiel with a serious expression and said, “Stiel, if you have free time, study magic properly. Don’t waste your time on these trivial things.”

The reason Camilla doted on this granddaughter was not only because Stiel was sweet and filial to him, but more importantly, because Stiel had an extremely high magical talent. Three years ago, she had already been admitted to the highest magic academy in the Lampari Kingdom, the Lampari Royal Academy, which was well-known throughout the entire Sains continent. Last year, she passed the qualification examination of the Mage Guild and became a recognized mage.

At the age of nineteen, achieving such a feat could be considered a genius mage on the entire Sains continent.

It was precisely because of this that while Camilla doted on Stiel, he was also extremely strict with her, often scolding her for her interest in these small things.

“I know,” Stiel, who was long accustomed to Camilla’s attitude, wasn’t particularly afraid. She stuck out her tongue and quickly left.

She knew very well that if she stayed any longer, Camilla would definitely give her a good scolding.

Watching Stiel escape, Camilla shook his head helplessly.

He truly had no good way to deal with this granddaughter.

After a while of further magical research, a flash of inspiration suddenly struck Camilla.

“No, that’s not right!”

Camilla redirected his gaze to the magic fan Stiel had forgotten to take, placed his hand on it, and slowly poured his vast magical power into it.

The base of the magic fan suddenly emitted a bright light, and the originally steadily rotating blades began to spin at several times the speed, causing the entire magic fan to wobble.

A moment later, the magic fan made a strange creaking sound. The blades, unable to withstand such violent high speed, detached from the shaft and directly collided with the iron mesh guard.

At the current high speed, the blades were smashed to pieces, and the guard was also deformed.

Camilla withdrew his hand, his face full of confusion.

The reason he suddenly decided to investigate the magic fan was that he had just realized that the wind vortex array was merely one of the lowest-level wind magic arrays, and the wind vortex magic it formed was also a low-level magic.

Although it might be more powerful when directly released, the wind from the wind vortex magic would not be so stable but should be as violent and unstable as most wind magic.

However, this magic fan had been running for over ten minutes, and during this time, the blades had been rotating steadily, and the wind it produced had been consistently stable, with no changes.

“How is this possible?” Camilla frowned, thinking for a while, and found that with his great mage’s strength, he couldn’t figure out how to achieve this.

Glancing at the already deformed magic fan, Camilla waved his hand without hesitation, and the entire magic fan was immediately cut in half, exposing the interior of the base.

Camilla carefully examined the magic array engraved inside the base, not missing a single detail.

However, after examining the entire magic array, he was astonished to find that there were many places he couldn’t understand!

Perhaps he could perfectly replicate the entire magic array, but he couldn’t figure out why it worked this way or how it specifically operated to achieve the stable rotation of the blades!

A heavy doubt arose in Camilla’s heart.

“Who designed this magic array?”

###

Heinze looked at the sparse crowd on the street outside the shop and then at the magic fan on the table, which was continuously rotating and blowing cool air, and couldn’t help but frown.

When the young mage Xu Yi brought these three strange-looking magic fans over yesterday and asked him to help sell them, he had initially wanted to refuse.

He couldn’t guarantee that such a strange thing would sell.

However, considering that Xu Yi usually bought things from his shop, he eventually agreed.

Fortunately, Xu Yi didn’t insist that he sell them, just left one magic fan running and then ignored it.

It had to be said that with the magic fan continuously blowing cool air, Heinze found the small shop much less stuffy and more comfortable.

“If I really can’t sell them, I might as well buy one. After all, Xu Yi said a small piece of low-quality magic crystal can make it run for three whole days.”

As Heinze was thinking this, a tall figure walked into the shop.

“Hey, dear Karl, why are you here so early today?” Heinze immediately went to greet him. The man was a regular customer.

This man named Karl had a head of messy, thick brown hair and a face full of unkempt beard. He was tall and rough-looking. He waved his hand and said loudly, “Enough, Heinze, no nonsense. Quickly give me a glass of iced beer, I’m about to die of heat!”

Heinze laughed and quickly served a glass of iced beer.

Karl took a few big gulps, exhaled deeply, and suddenly exclaimed, “Heinze, why is it so much cooler in your shop than outside? Strange, where’s the wind coming from? There’s not a single breeze outside. Don’t tell me you, a miser, would actually set up a magic array in your shop?”

“I can’t afford to maintain it even if I set it up,” Heinze pointed to the magic fan working hard. “Here, it’s the wind from this magic fan.”

“Magic fan?” Karl leaned in curiously to examine the magic fan, feeling the cool air it blew. Suddenly, he slapped the table and pointed at Heinze, shouting, “You, Heinze, to have something good and not tell me! Tell me, how much does this thing cost? Don’t tell me you won’t sell it?”

Heinze’s eyes lit up, and he deliberately drew out his words, “This... this thing isn’t cheap.”

“What? Do you think I don’t have money?” Karl glared. “Quick, as long as it’s not ridiculously expensive, I’ll buy it! Let me tell you, if this weather continues, I’m even considering setting up a large frost array!”

Heinze chuckled. Although Karl looked rough, he was smart and hardworking, running a small business in Ponta City. He wasn’t a millionaire, but he was definitely wealthier than the average person. If he decided to set up a large frost array, it wouldn’t be a problem.

“Of course, it’s not as expensive as setting up a large frost array. The price...” Heinze hesitated, then held up two fingers to Karl.

“Two gold coins?” Seeing Heinze nod, Karl didn’t hesitate, fished out four gold coins from his pocket, and slapped them on the table. “So cheap, I’ll take two!”

Looking at the four gold coins on the table, Heinze was stunned, “You’re sure you want two?”

Karl rolled his eyes, “What? Don’t you have two? I can’t just buy one, can I? If my son at home doesn’t have one, he’ll drive me crazy.”

“Of course, I have them!” Heinze quickly took out the remaining two magic fans and handed them to Karl.

Just as Karl was about to leave with the items, Heinze suddenly remembered something and called him back.

“Wait, Karl, there’s something I forgot to tell you. This magic fan needs a magic crystal to work.”

“Why didn’t you say that earlier?” Karl frowned. Although he wasn’t a mage, he knew that most things involving magic required magic crystals. “Does this thing consume a lot of crystals? If it’s like a large frost array, costing over a hundred gold coins a month, I might as well set up a large frost array.”

“Of course not, of course not...” Heinze waved his hands. “This thing doesn’t consume much. See, this small piece of magic crystal can make it run for three days.”

Karl glanced at the small, low-quality magic crystal in Heinze’s hand, immediately feeling much better. He laughed, “Just that little bit? It’s practically free.”

With that, he waved at Heinze and left with the two magic fans.

Heinze turned to look at the four gold coins still shining on the table, feeling a bit dazed.

He sold two? And got four gold coins?

What did that boy Xu Yi say before? He said he could get a 10% commission? So, just by selling these two magic fans, he could get forty silver coins in commission?

Considering his shop’s daily net profit was only about one gold coin...

Selling two and getting forty silver coins in commission, what if he sold twenty, two hundred...

As Heinze was fantasizing, another figure walked in.

“Hey, Heinze, I just ran into Karl. He said you have magic fans for sale. How about it? Show me. If they’re good, I’ll take two.”

“Ah?” Heinze was taken aback. Just as he was about to say he only had one left, another person walked in, saying the same thing, wanting to buy a magic fan.

Heinze looked at the growing crowd with surprise and excitement, his heart beating faster and faster.

Could this be the start of a fortune?
