This is a short interlude.

While writing the content planned for today's update, it turned into an interlude, so I'm posting it separately.

A few hours after Ain's gift and Crown's letter arrived in the capital, Mutton's forge in a corner of the craftsmen's district was still bustling with activity.

It was already night, but the two of them continued to make a commotion regardless.

"Hey, Eme! What the hell is this bill!?"

Amidst the bustle, Mutton, who had just taken a break to fetch water, saw a letter in his hand.

When he opened it, it was a "small" bill. The addressee was Eme.

"What is it, Master! The furnace is so loud, I can't hear you well!"

To dismantle the magic stone furnace, it was necessary to extract the remaining power from several parts.

If not completely extracted, it would turn toxic and have a negative impact on the surroundings.

Eme was using special equipment to remove the residual magic power.

"Ah!? Which one is more important, my voice or the furnace!?"

To an outsider, it would seem like they were saying something completely unreasonable. But for these two, such common sense didn't apply.

Eme, influenced by her master Mutton, also displayed a mysterious enthusiasm.

"Mu... That's a challenge, isn't it!? Alright, bring it on! Come on, Master! One more time!"

"Good job! I'll postpone turning you into grilled chicken! ——But what the hell is this bill!?"

Despite the loud furnace, Eme focused on Mutton's words.

Their banter was lively, but she, with her keen hearing, demonstrated her strength as a member of her race.

"Oh, that! I bought a perch for the new house! It's a genuine product from the Fohrung group!"

About three hours by water train from Balt, there was a gathering of Fohrung called the Fohrung group.

They used high-quality wood and responded to the needs of craftsmen.

"You always pick good wood! It's a far cry from your eye for minerals!"

"Hehe, right, right?"

Eme, blushing. If her appearance were to be described, she was a girl with a small animal-like charm.

She was about 150 cm tall, and when her wings were spread, they were wider than her height.

Her hair, a light brown with an orange tinge, was styled short.

Despite working as a blacksmith, her skin was white and porcelain-like.

"By the way, when is this supposed to arrive?"

"In three weeks! It's a custom order, so it takes time."

He had a rough idea, but hearing it from her made his body start to tremble with anger.

"You damn fool! So you're already grilled chicken! Whether you're a bird or not, you're already grilled chicken!?"

"E, e... e! Master, why are you angry! If you need one too, I'll place an additional order!"

With a vein popping on his forehead, Mutton started to think about how to scold her.

Hearing the three-week period, he reaffirmed that she had a bird brain.

"What the hell do I need a perch for, you idiot! In three weeks, we won't even be here anymore!"

"R-Really!? Ugh... What should we do..."

They weren't selling the house, but they planned to live in the capital for a while, so a new perch arriving here would be meaningless.

"W-What should we do, Master!? I can't cancel it now! But, but to notice something like this, you're amazing, Master!"

"Hmm...? Yeah, yeah! I'm not stupid after all... Damn, what can be done..."

Being praised made him feel good. That's what most people would feel.

But for Mutton, being praised made him feel several times better than the average person. However, this was only true for those close to him.

Even if a customer he didn't care about praised him, he had enough mental fortitude to just pick his nose in front of them.

"Can't something be done? I'll think about it too, you damn fool! Damn, this stupid apprentice..."

"Kyaa! Really, Master? I'll follow you forever!"

Being able to be moved by such trivial things might be a respectable talent.

And if these two looked happy, that was probably the best thing.

Eme, jumping up and clinging to him, and Mutton, easily catching her.

Mutton's strong arms were as robust as ever today.

I'll update the main story when I get home.
