"Really, it's so strange. No, it's amazing."
Handon-hee spun around the child with different colored eyes.
Due to Handon-hee's sudden intrusion into the room, Seo-un didn't have time to savor the afterglow of Cha-haya's unusual confession. The reason for Handon-hee's visit was even more surprising: she couldn't order food because she didn't know English.
With the child, who had just woken up, now fully exposed, Handon-hee had no choice but to tell the truth. She had intended to share the information anyway, but she hadn't expected Handon-hee to come first. However, Handon-hee just snorted at the news of the Earth's impending doom.
Reflecting on it, that reaction was indeed normal. Seo-un realized that it was Cha-haya's behavior that was strange, seeing how he believed her without any doubt.
Yesterday, Cha-haya had tried to kill the child without any hesitation, even though she herself, who had delivered the message about the Earth's destruction due to the last survivors of another planet, didn't fully believe it. That's why she had told Cha-haya not to believe it either.
Does Cha-haya know something I don't? Like how he used the black wall or the gate, is there something he hasn't told me yet?
Seo-un shook her head inwardly. She decided to dismiss her suspicions, thinking it was just a wild guess and that he simply believed her. Even in high school, she trusted herself more than anyone else.
"Is this a real human mutant? The mutant is so cute. Ooh, baby. What's your name?"
"Cha-mutant."
The child didn't answer, but Cha-haya did. The child's clear eyes resembled Cha-haya's, while the plump lips were a perfect match for Seo-un's.
"Why is your name like that? Baby, ignore that kid. Are you going to grow up and start biting and destroying people?"
Handon-hee made monster sounds with her hands and feet, and the child laughed out loud.
"Wow, you're not a mutant but an angel. Angels can be really scary when they're angry, right? Are you going to be like that too? Where are your angel wings?"
Handon-hee spun the child around by the shoulders. Even such a simple action made the child laugh continuously.
"Let's eat first."
Since they couldn't take the child to a restaurant, Seo-un planned to order room service again, as she had done the day before.
"Yeah, I'm so hungry. Order me an omelet, well-done, with lots of bacon and no vegetables."
"Why does that kid have so many demands when he can't even order for himself?"
"Hey, unlike someone who was born poor, he doesn't eat just anything."
"If you starve for a few days, you'll drink the water from washed vegetables, right?"
Before they started fighting again, Seo-un stepped between them.
"Cha-haya, what do you want to eat?"
"Whatever you choose first?"
Seo-un carefully looked at the room service menu written in English. The breakfast menu was simple, with options like salad, toast, omelet, and ratatouille.
"I'll just have a salad and cereal. I'll order a kids' breakfast set for the little one."
When Seo-un looked at him, expecting a response, Cha-haya picked up the in-room phone instead. He quickly ordered the menu items in Indonesian.
"Oh, right. Cha-haya used to live here, so it's really convenient."
Indeed, it was better to use Indonesian rather than her clumsy English. Seo-un knew that he had lived in Sulawesi for as long as in Korea, but she rarely saw him use a foreign language. He always spoke Korean with his uncle. Now, it seemed he had been considerate of her by not using Indonesian.
"It will take about 30 minutes."
He put down the phone and said.
Cha-haya thought Seo-un's purple eyes, which looked at him curiously, were so adorable that he could eat them. The sweet scent around her also lingered, stimulating his appetite and libido.
Why?
Cha-haya asked with his lips, hiding his true feelings.
"Really satisfying."
Seo-un gave a thumbs up.
Despite not being able to justify the stolen kiss, Seo-un acted as if she forgave everything. Cha-haya felt relieved but also a bit bitter. However, it didn't matter. Since they had kissed twice, Seo-un must have felt something too. By giving him another chance, Cha-haya concluded positively.
I'll treat you so well. No matter how hard you look, there's no one on Earth stronger than me, and no one who will treat you as well as I will.
Cha-haya regained his confidence and smiled.
He even followed Seo-un with his bright eyes. Blushing, Seo-un avoided him by saying she was going to shower. Handon-hee watched them suspiciously, occasionally pressing the child's soft cheeks.
"Should we announce that we've found a human mutant? But will the Union just leave this kid alone? He looks so small and precious, it's a bit concerning."
"Pervert."
"The pervert is the one who vacuums Cha-seo-un's lips like a vacuum cleaner."
Handon-hee whispered to Cha-haya, making sure Seo-un, who had gone to the bathroom, couldn't hear. Cha-haya waved his hand, saying something was buzzing, and shooed Handon-hee away.
Handon-hee circled the child again.
"But this kid, he looks... exactly like you two."
"What, Cha-seo-un's and mine?"
"Wow! Damn! Creepy! Really?!"
Handon-hee lifted the child high by the armpits. The child laughed, enjoying the sudden height.
Handon-hee looked at the child closely, her face full of questions.
"But why does the mutant look like a mix of you two?"
"Because Cha-seo-un's and my energies mixed."
"Huh?"
Handon-hee made a deflating sound.
"Pervert."
Cha-haya pushed Handon-hee away again. This time, Handon-hee blushed because she had also had strange thoughts. She had noticed that the atmosphere between Seo-un and Cha-haya was off as soon as she entered the room.
Seo-un tried to avoid eye contact with Cha-haya, and her face was flushed. Cha-haya kept looking at her. With a child who looked exactly like both of them, Handon-hee was understandably confused.
"We should tell the Union, right?"
Cha-haya gave an unexpected answer.
"Kid, isn't that a bit risky? How will they react?"
Handon-hee, who had been playing with the child, stretched her back. The child laughed again and grabbed Handon-hee's hair like reins.
"Let's just handle it ourselves."
"Ourselves?"
"Yeah."
Cha-haya leaned back on the sofa, giving a nonchalant answer.
"Hey, but if this kid is really from another planet and can absorb the energy of other species, isn't that dangerous?"
While saying this, he continued to play with the child.
"I can't absorb other energies anymore. I'm fully human now!"
The child, holding onto Handon-hee's hair, said brightly.
"Wow, so smart! Did you hear that?"
Handon-hee spun the child around, holding onto his thighs.
"Should we just say there's no such thing as a human mutant and let it go? What can this little kid do?"
"The world isn't as easy as you think. It won't be easy to let it go because of the searchers."
"I only find Cha-haya easy to deal with."
"The top species is being dominated by the top-top species."
"Hey, then I'm the top-top-top species."
The child giggled at their childish argument.
"You two never get tired of fighting."
Seo-un, who had just come out of the bathroom, shook her head. She had taken a cold shower, and a chill emanated from her body. Her flushed cheeks had returned to their usual pale color.
The room service arrived, but there was no proper place to sit, so they stood around the food tray. Handon-hee moved the marble table closer to the sofa, and the three adults found a suitable spot for it.
Handon-hee prepared a place for the child to eat and placed the kids' set, which included fried rice, on the table. After setting up the child's utensils and pouring juice, the child happily started eating.
Seo-un watched the entire process with her mouth slightly open. It seemed that Cha-haya, who had been gentle even when he was younger, really liked children.
"I don't like carrots."
Suddenly, the child pushed the carrots in the fried rice with his spoon.
"I hate onions even more."
This time, he made a pout. Handon-hee nagged Cha-haya to order something else, but he ignored her. Seo-un sighed deeply and picked out the onions and carrots instead.
"Yay, I like sausages. I like eggs. No onions! Onions are a disaster!"
The child glared at the onions as if they were his mortal enemy. Perhaps because of the influence of Cha-haya's cosmos, the child had developed a rougher side.
'...Ugh, tendencies, I don't like, I, don't like...'
The child seemed to refer to Cha-haya's tendencies as 'ugly,' but Seo-un didn't think that was true. Cha-haya might be unpredictable, but he was far from being a true villain.
