The sky was dark again, and it was clear.

Yun Zhaoyin’s words lingered in his ears, and Na Ze felt the moon was particularly bright this night, giving him the illusion of being burned. He didn’t make himself busy in the study as usual, but stood dumbfounded at Momo’s bedside and examined her sleeping face. It had been a long time since he’d stared at her quietly sleeping like this. Before, what had it been like before?

Na Ze sits silently beside her, he used to look at Momo’s face like this until he fell asleep and woke up the next day to see her sleeping comfortably beside himself. Later, knowing about his rest time, Momo began to work hard and stayed up late. Wanting to sleep and desperately keeping her eyes open, she watched him being busy, staring at herself with wet, innocent eyes – like a born fawn. She occasionally goes out to bring him water, and occasionally bumped into the wall or the table and chairs, and then let out a scream to wake herself up.

Thinking through here, Na Ze gave her a warm smile. He reached out with his hand and gently opened her bangs. He then used his finger to gently interlink with hers. He laid down and in his heart, he silently counted. “1, 2, 3, 4……” When the count reached twenty-seven, Momo grabbed his hand, rubbed it against her cheek, pressed on her arm, and smiled in her dream, just like before.

Feeling the warmth of her cheeks, Na Ze unfolded a smile, and her lovely movements reminded him of that sunny day that belonged to them. That day, somewhat miserably dressed in a black trench coat, insulated boots, a large mask and sunglasses, he faced her for the first time in the sun, standing in his own red rose garden. “Will you marry me?”

“It’s not like I’m married to you, how do I know if it’s okay?” She replied with a proper answer.

“?!”

“Silly,” She reached out and caught his hand on her cheek to rub it, with a shyness in her pettiness, “I mean, I won’t know if it would be alright until I married you! What are you waiting for, quickly get married to me!”

We’ll see if it’s okay until we get married. So, Momo, now, do you think it’s okay to marry me?

The answer he got from Momo was a calm and steady breathing sound, and his smile began to be bitter.

He thought that ten years of happy life was enough to say it all, but the sudden change took him by surprise; he thought he was the one who knew Momo best in the world, but he actually knew nothing about Momo’s past; he thought his Momo was an ordinary, naive spirit who would always belong to him alone, but was it really so?

What is the answer, and who can tell him? Na Ze covered his chest somewhat uncomfortably, showing a self-deprecating smile. There were still a few days until Christmas, and the energy inside him began to restrain his restlessness again, blood surging, reminding himself.

What does Christmas, the carnival that belongs to the man blessed by God, have to do with him, the vampire who cannot see the light?! He was born out of a curse, including his father, and perhaps the mother who died because of loving him. But he couldn’t touch that love, and could only be happy with the darkness of the demon. Na Ze’s eyes were astringent, but he would not have tears, and it must have been a blessing to be able to cry. Christmas was not his holiday, but a robbery, his Momo had forgotten.

Immersed in his own thoughts, his unconsciously bent fingers startled the originally sleeping Momo, who opened her eyes and grabbed his hand covering his chest, her gaze filled with concern.

“I’m physically fine.” Na Ze pulled a smile and comforted her.

“Then there is something in your heart,” Momo sat up in the covers, still tugging on both his hands, “don’t try to hide it from me.”

“You,” Na Ze didn’t know how to speak, he had too many questions in his mind, but he knew he couldn’t mess it up, Momo needed his steady embrace to press down the pain in his heart, he picked a simple topic, “Shan Mo is the original name?”

“It’s because of this unhappiness,” Momo grabbed his two hands and held them up, smiling a little mischievously, “It’s actually nothing, it’s the name my parents gave me, and then when I came to the orphanage for an ease of memory, it became Momo, haha!”

“So, what do the in-laws do?”

“Well, I don’t know, probably runs a company,” Momo shook her head with uncertainty and thought for a moment before replying, “I think it’s still rich, the orphanage I went to later was financed by my family.”

“Oh, so,” Na Ze nodded, seeming to put his mind at ease, “So Momo’s life at the orphanage should be okay?”

“Sure, better than anywhere, I wouldn’t have come out of the mountains if it wasn’t for school!” Momo wrinkled her nose and looked fixedly at her hands, missing the orphanage director and her friend a little.

An orphanage in the mountains? Na Ze’s heart cried out for a moment, and he didn’t know what to say for a long time before saying, “Momo you go to bed early, if you want to go back, we can go anytime.”

“Really?” Momo happily raised her head, and Na Ze also revealed a smile in response to her, “Of course!”

Momo stared at Naze’s expression for half a minute, then suddenly pressed his hands, kneeled down. With her widened eyes, she said mysteriously, “I see you still have something on your mind, huh?”

Na Ze’s smile froze on his face.

“See, I was right,” Momo smiled smugly, crooked her head, her expression was full of adorableness, but her tone was old-fashioned, “Isn’t it, isn’t it, there’s still something to be said! Don’t you hide it, I know, humph!”

“What do you know?” Na Ze asked with uncertainty.

“Sad to have no presents for Christmas, isn’t it?” Momo patted him on the shoulder with a smile, “Don’t worry, I’ve got it for you, haha!”

“Oooh……..”

“Why are you going “ooohhh”? You’re acting silly!” Momo showed her white teeth, “I guessed it right away, are you scared?”

Na Ze had the urge to spit blood, and despite Momo’s struggle, pressed her head into her own arms, “Yeah, I’m scared to death. Now you’re satisfied, go to sleep!”

“Ahhhh, you’re a bad guy!” Momo pounded hard on his chest, her hands dancing with a fight. “Please believe me, I really have a present for you…”

Na Ze kissed her fiercely, and blocked her by force, so that he would not hear any more from her. This kind of woman, he shouldn’t be nervous, even if it was God, so what, who else but him wanted her!
