Chapter 82

This is a standard configuration for a mercenary group, with a tank, a shock trooper, a speedster, a ranged attacker, and a support member. It can be considered quite comprehensive, capable of handling various different situations. This is what a mercenary group is, composed of warriors with different specialized roles. No mercenary group would consist of five warriors of the same profession.

The muscular warrior loudly said, "Freshmen of the Starlight Academy, welcome to Lank Town. We are the Battle Blade Mercenary Group, your supervisors for the internship tasks. And I am the warrior, Rock!"

The others also introduced themselves one by one. The thief was named Harper, the archer Dalian, the knight Danell, and the cleric Daly.

What surprised everyone was that Rock, the warrior, was not the leader of the mercenary group; the cleric Daly was. It seemed that the muscular man was more outgoing and thus took the lead in speaking, but Daly did not mind, as it appeared everyone was already used to it.

"Freshmen, now it's your turn," Rock said. "Besides your names, also show us your strength. Because this internship task is more about cultivating team collaboration than individual ability. I need to understand each of your capabilities to assign your roles more appropriately!"

By the time Luo Feng and Gorin had their second decisive battle, many in the academy were already at the ninth level of Gang Qi. After several months, many had broken through to the first level of Magic Qi. Fortunately, Luo Feng was not in the same group as Gorin, otherwise, it would have been awkward. It might also be that the academy had heard about the enmity between the two and deliberately made this arrangement. After all, the internship task requires a high level of cooperation among students. If they didn't get along, it would be difficult to develop teamwork in battles.

Luo Feng was in Group 16, which had the standard number of ten members, consisting of him and Aaron from the basic class, three from the regular class, and five from the advanced class.

A student from the advanced class introduced himself first and activated his Aura. For mercenaries and their roles, the important standard is their attribute. This student had a wind attribute, so he was likely a thief.

The others also took their tests, all with common attributes, none with special attributes. One student from the advanced class was the best in his class, reaching the second level of Magic Qi, while the others were at the first level.

Aaron's Magic Qi attribute, as expected, was fire.

Finally, it was Luo Feng's turn.

"My name is Luo Feng, please give me your guidance, mercenary mentors!" Luo Feng's self-introduction was simple. After finishing, he activated his Aura.

Seeing his Aura, everyone in the mercenary group was taken aback.

After a while, they reacted almost in unison, "Attributeless Magic Qi?"

Luo Feng was no longer surprised by their reaction, as such a condition was indeed rare among warriors. He admitted, "Yes, my Magic Qi has no attribute."

"Kid, are you kidding me?" Rock shouted. "Alright, kid, I have to admit, your Magic Qi level is indeed the highest, at the third level, which is quite rare. But do you know what attributeless Magic Qi means? Oh, my God, why did your academy assign you to a heavy task? You should actually go to a moderate task!"

At this point, the mercenary leader Daly, who had been silent, finally spoke up, "Rock, let me handle this."

The cleric's personality was clearly different from the warrior's. He called Luo Feng aside and said kindly, "Rock's words were a bit harsh, please don't take it to heart. But he is actually concerned for you, not trying to mock you. The internship task is different from the small spars in the academy. You might encounter life-threatening situations. We have all experienced the pain of losing comrades, and we value our teammates more than anyone. Therefore, we must be responsible for you and your teammates. A team is a whole, and any member can directly affect its operation. Luo Feng, so, do you need to consider whether you should go to a moderate task? The mentors from your academy are still here and can send you to the moderate task camp."

Daly spoke very tactfully, taking care of Luo Feng's self-esteem, but his meaning was similar to Rock's, hoping that Luo Feng would leave the group for his own good and for the team's sake.

But Luo Feng firmly said, "If possible, I want to stay here. Although my Magic Qi has no attribute, I believe I won't be a burden!"

Daly frowned, "Are you sure?"

Luo Feng nodded, "Yes, I am sure!"

"Alright," seeing Luo Feng's determination, Daly could only agree.

There was no task that day because the students needed to rest and complete an important task.

That evening, on the outskirts of Lank Town, a bonfire burned brightly, and the ten members of Group 16 and the Battle Blade Mercenary Group gathered around it.

The first to speak was not Rock, as the leader should take the lead in such matters. The cleric Daly's voice was slow but steady, as befitting his position as the leader: "From now on, you are a team. As a group, you must have a leader to control the overall situation; otherwise, you will be a scattered group of individuals. Therefore, before the battle begins, you must elect a captain. The captain is the brain of the team, and every decision he makes will affect the entire team. This directly relates to the fate of all members. Therefore, I hope that when you vote, you will set aside any personal relationships and recommend the most suitable person. He must have strong leadership skills, be able to unite his teammates, be brave and selfless, and remain calm and composed in any situation, making the most accurate judgments! You can choose anyone except yourself, and you have only one vote. If two or more people receive the same number of votes, we will conduct a test and appoint the captain based on their performance!"

After Daly finished speaking, the group began to discuss. After ten minutes, Daly said again, "Alright, now you can start voting, starting with member number one."

Number one was a student from the advanced class with a wind attribute, named Shaxier.

After hesitating, he said, "I recommend Luo Feng."

" Luo Feng?" The Battle Blade Mercenary Group was very surprised. They thought Shaxier would choose another student from his class, Michael, who had reached the second level of Magic Qi. While Luo Feng's level was higher, attributeless warriors were not on the same level as those with attributes. Luo Feng should have been the weakest and the least likely to be chosen as captain.

Number two, Michael, also spoke up, "I'll choose Luo Feng too."

The mercenary group was even more surprised. One person choosing Luo Feng might have been for a special reason, but two people choosing him was not a coincidence.

The others also expressed their opinions, and they all chose Luo Feng, including the students from the second year, second class.

The second and eighth classes had some conflicts, but now they were in the same team and were partners for the internship task. Involving the team, they had to set aside personal grudges. They had to admit that Luo Feng was the most suitable among them. First, in terms of personal strength, Luo Feng had defeated the class leader of the second class, Gorin, a few months ago. Michael did not think he was stronger than Gorin.

As for leadership skills, Luo Feng was the class leader of the eighth class. Under his leadership, the eighth class was vibrant and full of energy. Luo Feng's reputation and popularity in his class were impeccable, and no one could match him in this regard.

In terms of calmness and composure in battle, they had seen firsthand how smart Luo Feng was in his two battles with Gorin. He not only had a mature and decisive personal style but also remained calm and composed in critical situations, coming up with brilliant strategies, demonstrating excellent psychological resilience.

Therefore, in every aspect, it was difficult to find someone more outstanding than Luo Feng among the other nine. Thus, they all recommended Luo Feng.

Apart from Luo Feng's own vote, all nine votes were in his favor, making it a unanimous decision. However, Rock could not help but shout, "Hey, are you sure? You all chose a person with attributeless Magic Qi as the captain? Honestly, I don't even know how to classify him. It's already a stretch for him to be in the team, let alone being a suitable candidate. The internship task is not a game; an incompetent captain can put you all in danger at any time!"

Seemingly thinking of something, Rock added, "Kid, do you have any background in Victoria City, threatening others to choose you? Listen, I, Rock, don't buy that, so this vote doesn't count!"

Aaron smiled, "Although Luo Feng has no attribute, it's easy to classify him. Mr. Rock, you can give him a test. If you think Luo Feng is not qualified, we can discuss it further."

"Very well, that's a good suggestion!" Rock stood up and asked his comrades, "Do you have any objections?"

Daly and the others shook their heads. They also wanted to know why the students had all chosen a person with attributeless Magic Qi as their leader. While personal strength is not the only standard for a leader, it is an important one. After all, a strong leader can directly boost the morale of the team through their actions. If the weakest person were the leader, it would not be ideal.
