Tian Gang took one look and burst into a fit of laughter, saying, "Just this little bit of skill, and you dare to clamor about going to the front lines? I think you’re just tired of living, you can’t even hold a gun."

Tang Chun took one look and knew that Tian Gang was trying to mess with him. This large gun weighed at least a few hundred pounds. It should be used by a general-level expert. The soldiers used guns that were only as thick as two fingers and about 1.2 meters long.

Tang Chun gritted his teeth and shouldered the gun, but it still felt too heavy. He couldn’t walk steadily and swayed as he moved.

This frail body couldn’t bear the weight of a few hundred pounds. Fortunately, Tang Chun had broken through to the first level of Qi Cultivation; otherwise, he would have had to cry on the ground while hugging the gun.

"Move!" With a crack, Tang Chun was whipped by Tian Gang. This guy had no choice but to grit his teeth and run behind Tian Gang.

After running a few hundred meters, he was almost exhausted. With another crack, he was hit by another whip. Tang Chun thought that if this continued, he wouldn’t even make it to the front lines; he would be crushed to death by the iron gun.

Fortunately, this guy had experience from missions with the Dragon Group. He decided to run while cultivating the Nine Heavens Vast World Technique.

This cultivation really worked; the gun didn’t feel as heavy. Of course, it was just a slight improvement. This guy gritted his teeth and ran behind, unable to stop; if he slowed down even a little, he would be whipped.

However, as the distance increased, his steps became heavier. "Captain, can we stop and rest for a moment?" Tang Chun asked, looking at Captain Tian on his tall horse.

"You’re here to atone for your crimes on the front lines, not to enjoy yourself. If you don’t want to, you can go back with me and get a few dozen lashes first." Tian Gang laughed dryly from his horse.

"I’ll run." Tang Chun gritted his teeth and kept running. By the end, he was drenched in sweat and disoriented, just following the dust kicked up by the horse in front of him.

"Charge!" Suddenly, a shout rang out, and black arrows shot out from the trees on both sides of the road.

"Charge!" Tian Gang was truly a reckless man; instead of dismounting and lying on the ground, he led dozens of soldiers into the forest, braving the rain of arrows.

Tang Chun, seeing this, thought it was better to avoid immediate danger. He pretended to trip over a stone and fell to the ground, quickly rolling behind a large tree.

Looking up, he saw that Captain Tian was indeed a hero. He led dozens of people into the forest, but about half of the soldiers fell before they even reached the trees, pierced by the flying arrows. Soon, the sound of weapons clashing came from the forest.

With a whoosh, a gruesome head, spewing blood, flew over and splattered Tang Chun with blood. This guy didn’t dare move; sticking his head out might mean an arrow in the face.

After a long while, Tang Chun heard no more sounds of weapons clashing. He wondered if everyone had perished. Carefully, he crept into the forest and found the ground covered with severed limbs and organs, making his scalp tingle and sweat.

Captain Tian was still locked in combat with a general. Both of their long spears were embedded in each other’s shoulders, and they seemed to be competing in inner strength.

The other side was smirking, seemingly stronger than Tian Gang. Blood was gushing from Tian Gang’s shoulder, while the spearhead in the other’s shoulder seemed to be shallower, as there was little blood.

Tang Chun quickly picked up a bow and arrow from the ground and aimed for a long time. The bow was heavy, and he strained with all his might to finally draw it, and then, swoosh...

The black arrow flew out, slightly off target, hitting the guy’s thigh. Tang Chun roared and picked up a large saber, chopping from behind.

The guy was locked in combat with Tian Gang and had just been hit in the leg. He tried to dodge but was too late. Tang Chun’s saber struck his head, and a gush of blood spurted out.

Tian Gang lunged forward, and the iron spear finally pierced the guy’s chest. The guy’s eyes widened in disbelief as he died.

"Captain is mighty, Captain is mighty!" Tang Chun raised the large saber and shouted.

"Cut... cut off his head, let’s get back to camp quickly." Tian Gang fainted after speaking, having lost too much blood. Tang Chun quickly bandaged him, cut off the head, and carried Tian Gang back on the horse.

"Report to the general, we encountered an ambush. Captain Tian was very heroic and killed this guy with one spear." Tang Chun, covered in blood, entered the main tent. He was fine, having smeared the blood of the unfortunate guy on himself.

"Hmm, it’s actually the Great Yuan Kingdom’s Le Wudao. Well done, well done." Hu Yan Gao laughed heartily upon seeing this.

"This was killed by Captain Tian; I just carried them back." Tang Chun deliberately gave the credit to Captain Tian, starting to win people’s favor.

Because Tang Chun could see that General Hu Yan Gao favored Captain Tian, though his rank wasn’t high, everyone had their favorites.

"Hmm, go rest. Someone, reward Tang Chun with a ten-year-old ginseng root." Hu Yan Gao said with a pleased expression.

Tang Chun was led into the tent and pretended to be seriously injured, lying on the bed. In reality, he was lying in bed, eating the ten-year-old ginseng and cultivating the Nine Heavens Vast World Technique.

Sure enough, in the evening, Tian Gang, wrapped in bandages, came in. Tang Chun quickly tried to stand up.

"Don’t move, rest well." Tian Gang patted Tang Chun’s shoulder affectionately, "Well done, you’re a good soldier, just like I expected."

"I didn’t do much, it was all thanks to Captain’s might." Tang Chun said humbly.

"You might not know, but Le Wudao was a seventh-rank captain in the Great Yuan Kingdom. A sixth-rank general once died at his spear, and that general’s relative was a second-rank official in the court. At the time, his relative was furious and blamed General Hu Yan for this matter."

"General Hu Yan was very troubled by this, but now it’s avenged. This will be reported to the court."

"General Hu Yan was very pleased and rewarded me with a piece of woodstone. Here, take it; I have more anyway." Tian Gang said, pulling out a piece of wood-like stone, about three fingers wide, from his backpack and giving it to Tang Chun.

Tang Chun was taken aback, wondering why he was given a piece of stone, not a diamond. However, he noticed that several soldiers standing by the bed were looking at him with envy and even greed, indicating that this woodstone was definitely a good thing.

Tian Gang left, and Tang Chun played with the woodstone, unsure how to use it. He glanced at a soldier and asked, "What rank is this thing?"

Tang Chun was smart; he didn’t ask how to use it but deliberately asked about its rank. Since everything had a rank, this woodstone should have one too.

"It should be of lower rank, a good thing indeed." The soldier smiled.

"Oh, you know it’s a good thing too?" Tang Chun smiled, pretending to quiz the guy.
