After enduring countless humiliations, Bu Fan finally managed to extract his current situation from the middle-aged man with great difficulty.
The place where he now found himself was a small estate on the outskirts of Hangzhou, named Bu Family Manor, just like his surname.
The man who had been constantly lecturing him was a guard of Bu Family Manor. It was said that he was a close friend of Bu Fan’s father in the game and had watched Bu Fan grow up, so Bu Fan called him Uncle Er.
As for Bu Fan, he was a servant at Bu Family Manor. It was said that his family had been serving the Bu family for generations, as hereditary servants, and Bu Fan, in particular, was a home-born servant with a bright future at the manor.
Because of this, not long ago, he had been exceptionally promoted to be the carriage driver for the young lady of the manor, Bu Yanran.
This was what was meant by a randomly assigned identity. When Bu Fan entered the world of martial arts, he was matched with the identity of a young carriage driver at Bu Family Manor.
Now, Bu Fan finally understood the meaning of what Qiao Yurou had said during the meeting. Why should this world be treated as a real one? Because it indeed lacked many elements of a game.
There were no attribute panels, no NPCs, and not even skills or equipment. Everything here, except for his memories, was exactly the same as the real world.
"Damn, who would have thought that the martial arts career of a talented young man would start as a carriage driver. I wonder if I will become a legendary figure among all the carriage drivers in the world!" Bu Fan thought to himself as he clumsily drove the luxurious carriage, leaning against the bumpy vehicle.
Around the carriage, the burly man he called Uncle Er led a group of five or six guards, each carrying a long sword, riding horses around him.
"Why the hell didn't I get a better identity? How can I go out and explore the world, or find powerful martial arts techniques, as a carriage driver?" Bu Fan grumbled, looking at the dashing guards on horseback around him.
His resentment stemmed from the fact that he had already found out that his servant status was registered with the government, especially for someone like him, a home-born servant.
If he wanted to leave, he would need the master's permission. Otherwise, if he fled, he would be considered a runaway slave and would be pursued by the authorities. If caught, he would be at the mercy of his master.
Thinking about how noble families treated their servants in the TV shows he had watched, Bu Fan couldn't help but shudder.
"Damn, how can I get the contract from the manor lord? Should I kidnap the young lady?" Bu Fan thought to himself as he drove the carriage, but then he looked at the strong, sword-wielding guards around him and gave up on the idea.
While Bu Fan was deep in thought, a bustling market appeared at the end of the road, which was his destination.
"Bu Fan, when we reach the market, just park the carriage at the entrance. Wait for me there!" A pleasant voice came from inside the carriage. Bu Fan knew it was the voice of the young lady he served, Bu Yanran.
"Sure, young lady, I understand!" Bu Fan immediately snapped out of his reverie and replied in a calm and steady voice.
Fortunately, the horses from Bu Family Manor were well-trained and gentle, not wild. After driving for a while, Bu Fan gradually got used to their temperaments and finally parked the carriage steadily at the entrance of the market.
The other guards also stopped, and then the curtain of the carriage was pulled open. A woman wearing a light veil slowly stepped out of the carriage.
"Young lady, are you going into town? Do you need me to accompany you?" At this moment, a man in his twenties dismounted and walked up to Bu Yanran, bowing respectfully.
"No, you can rest here. I can go in by myself!" Bu Yanran gently shook her head and said softly.
"Um, are you sure, young lady? Don't you need someone to carry your purchases?" The man seemed disappointed by Bu Yanran's response and asked again, not giving up.
"Carry purchases? What kind of bag?" Bu Yanran looked puzzled and asked softly.
"Um, to carry your purchases. I'm strong, so if you need to buy anything, I can carry it for you!" The man quickly explained to Bu Yanran.
"Enough, Bu Yuanshan. Since the young lady said she can go in by herself, don't keep nagging. If the young lady needs anything, she will tell us to go in!" Uncle Er, who couldn't stand Bu Yuanshan's fawning, scolded him.
"Um, okay, I won't disturb the young lady. Please go in, young lady!" Bu Yuanshan reluctantly stepped aside, letting Bu Yanran walk into the market alone.
Then, Bu Yuanshan glared at Uncle Er and walked to the side, sitting down quietly.
"This guy, he seems different today, acting strangely. It's really odd!" Uncle Er walked to the other side of the carriage, sat down, and muttered to Bu Fan.
Bu Fan's heart skipped a beat. He turned his head and glanced at the guard named Bu Yuanshan, who was sitting alone, not interacting with anyone, seeming out of place.
"It seems this guy is also a player!" Bu Fan thought to himself, recalling Bu Yuanshan's slip of the tongue and his behavior.
And the reason Bu Yuanshan was trying to ingratiate himself with Bu Yanran was likely because he knew about his identity restrictions and wanted to find a way to break free and regain his freedom through Bu Yanran.
"By the way, Uncle Er, are the people in our manor all very skilled in martial arts?" Bu Fan couldn't help but ask in a low voice, seeing the guards with their swords and knives.
Uncle Er looked at Bu Fan with a puzzled expression. "What's wrong with you today? You used to hate all this fighting and killing, didn't you?"
Bu Fan chuckled awkwardly but didn't answer. He couldn't tell him that he had changed and now wanted to explore the world of martial arts.
Then, Bu Fan started chatting with Uncle Er, subtly probing for information about Bu Family Manor.
Not long after, Bu Yanran, dressed in white and wearing a light veil, slowly walked out of the bustling market, but she wasn't carrying anything.
Seeing Bu Yanran come out, Uncle Er jumped off the carriage, and Bu Fan took out a small stool from under the carriage door and placed it on the ground.
"Bu Fan, tell Uncle Er and the others that we're going back to the manor!" Bu Yanran stepped onto the stool and got into the carriage, instructing Bu Fan softly.
Bu Fan nodded, but there was no need to tell Uncle Er; they had already heard Bu Yanran's words.
Then, Bu Fan drove the carriage, and they headed back to Bu Family Manor with Uncle Er and the others.
However, when they arrived at the gate of Bu Family Manor, they found a young man with a determined look standing proudly in front of the gate.
Behind him was a luxurious sedan chair!
"When did this person arrive? I didn't see such a sedan chair passing by earlier, and there don't seem to be any bearers around it!" Bu Fan looked at the strange man with curiosity.
"Are you from Bu Family Manor?" The man suddenly turned around, hearing the sound of hooves, and asked loudly.
"Yes, we are from Bu Family Manor. May I ask what brings you to our gate?" Uncle Er, as the head guard, rode forward and asked formally.
"Please inform your manor lord that the successor of the Fire麟Sword, Duan Wentian, has come to pay a visit!" The man smiled lightly and said calmly.
These words sent a shockwave through Bu Fan's mind.
