He would soon be able to master the power, a tremendous force that surpassed everyone's expectations, enough to protect his loved ones! Having experienced a dark childhood, Dr. Octavius cherished the happiness before his eyes more than anyone else.
Dr. Octavius nodded, "Yes, the machine that completes and maintains nuclear fusion—it's a miracle, isn't it? Even I can't design it any more perfectly!"
Peter looked at the neutron collision instrument being fine-tuned nearby and suddenly asked, "Are you using the harmonic frequency of atoms?"
"Actually, it's the resonant frequency," Dr. Octavius added.
"To enhance the effect of nuclear fusion?"
"Good, go on," Dr. Octavius encouraged.
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, Peter wouldn't have believed that such a device, which had always been theoretical, could actually be designed and built: "It ultimately produces a powerful, energy..."
Dr. Octavius squinted his eyes and spread his arms wide, mimicking the effect, "It's an endless supply of energy, like the sun, providing an inexhaustible and perpetual source of power. From the current data, whether it's Stark Industries, which is transitioning into the energy sector, or the diversified Oscorp, none of them can match this. It's unique!"
Peter affirmed, "It's incredible. If your experiment succeeds, it can change the future!"
"It is incredible, and it will definitely succeed!" Dr. Octavius was full of confidence in his invention, allowing no room for doubt. Peter apologized, "I'm sorry, Doctor, I'm not doubting your design, but can you ensure the stability of the nuclear fusion reaction?"
Dr. Octavius was displeased, "What do you think I've been talking about for the past hour and a half? This is the culmination of my life's work, and I am well aware of the severe consequences of any calculation errors."
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have doubted you." A faint green light flickered in Peter's eyes, then disappeared.
"Ha ha." Dr. Octavius laughed and said to his wife, Rose, who had just entered, "This young man thought I was trying to blow up New York." "You can rest assured; his research is flawless." Mrs. Rose was equally confident in Dr. Octavius's research.
She walked over to Dr. Octavius, kissed him on the cheek, and said, "All the invited guests have arrived. Mr. Harry said that if you're ready, the public demonstration can begin at any time."
"Of course, I'm fine!" Dr. Octavius stood up from his desk, "Did Edison rest before inventing the light bulb? Did Marconi rest before inventing the radio? Did Beethoven rest before composing his Fifth Symphony?"
Peter gave a twisted smile, his voice distorted, not at all like a normal laugh, "Bernoulli didn't sleep before inventing the principle of least action."
Dr. Octavius felt a chill run from his feet to his heart. He forced a smile, "Heh heh, I appreciate this young man." He didn't hear Peter's low murmur, "God didn't rest before completing the creation of the world, and Lucifer didn't sleep before reaching hell."

In the research hall where Peter had entered, it was already filled with guests invited by Dr. Octavius and Harry. Among them were scientific observers, government and military procurement officers, and many more businesspeople who had long-term partnerships with Oscorp.
They had gathered here to witness Dr. Octavius's nuclear fusion experiment. Similarly, they would base their future cooperation with Oscorp on the success and results of this experiment.
Since the death of the elder Octavius, it was difficult for Harry alone to gain the trust of these cunning foxes. He needed to show his credentials.
Funding Dr. Octavius's experiment was Harry's trump card.
In this era of electronic information, nothing could be more appealing than "energy." Every energy revolution quickly created a large number of billionaires at the top of the economic pyramid.
Harry wouldn't analyze the deeper factors with Dr. Octavius; he just needed to focus on his experiment. Each had their role, and Harry believed this would be a win-win collaboration.
The premise was the successful completion of the nuclear fusion experiment and the actual results meeting Dr. Octavius's previous predictions.
He would succeed, wouldn't he? He would definitely succeed!
Harry stood at the front with Oscorp's own researchers, nodded to Dr. Octavius, signaling that the demonstration could begin.
Dr. Octavius received Harry's signal, clapped his hands, and drew the attention of the onlookers. Many of them were experts in the scientific community, and their gazes on Dr. Octavius's equipment were intriguing.
"Ladies and gentlemen, my wife and I welcome you all. But before we begin, I have a question: who lost a bundle of money tied with a rubber band?" The audience looked at each other, and Dr. Octavius shrugged, "We're sorry, we only found the rubber band."
The crowd was amused by Dr. Octavius's dry humor and chuckled good-naturedly. It was a small method Dr. Octavius used to relax himself, and it seemed to work well. He laughed and said, "A very cold joke, but thank you all for your participation!"
"Today, you will witness the greatest experiment in human civilization... You will see the birth of a new energy source, a safe and sustainable new energy that will replace existing electrical and chemical energy, providing cheap power for the 21st century..."
Dr. Octavius stepped back and stood in front of a display stand covered with a curtain, "First, I would like to introduce my assistant..."
Peter watched as Dr. Octavius pulled back the curtain, revealing the menacing metal claws beneath.
As he spoke, he took off his coat and handed it to Mrs. Rose, who was waiting nearby, "These four mechanical arms were specifically designed for the nuclear fusion experiment. They can withstand high temperatures and strong magnetic fields."
He walked to the display stand and turned on the control switch for the metal claws. The binding devices quickly secured the mechanical arms. The electronic wires on the mechanical arms' electronic spine pierced through Dr. Octavius's skin, deeply embedding into his spine and connecting with his brain's nervous system.
These were metal claws that could be directly operated by the bioelectric signals from the brain, extending like Dr. Octavius's own arms, moving freely. Although there was some pain during the initial fusion, it was still within an acceptable range.
