The night on Fifth Avenue in New York City has always been brightly lit, and the new technology center invested in by the Hardy family is located here.
This is the central street of Manhattan, New York, lined with tall buildings with glass facades that shine brightly. From south to north, there are the Empire State Building, the New York Public Library, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Central Park, among other famous buildings.
The new technology center is built on the Museum Mile next to Central Park.
This area is home to several world-class art museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, hence its name.
During the day, one cannot understand the high life of the night; under the night sky, Fifth Avenue seems to come alive. Even the air is filled with elegance and splendor, a refined and fashionable atmosphere brimming with vitality.
Lanterns line the road, their soft light casting a luxurious glow on the street.
Ymir looked up at the new technology center, which seemed particularly grand and upscale, and was speechless. Who said Spider-Man was a poor nobody? Just look at his friends; they are either the sons of large corporations like Harry Osborn or wealthy young ladies like Felicia Hardy.
With Felicia's lead, Ymir and the others quickly entered the new technology center. The person checking the invitations at the entrance was slightly stunned by Kathleen's appearance, to the point where he couldn't even speak properly in front of them.
"I hope Felicia won't give him trouble later," Ymir shrugged, finding his sister's aura truly remarkable. Any clothes on her could highlight a dazzling radiance.
In the grand hall of the technology center, guests in formal attire gathered in groups, and it was clear that the Hardy family's influence was considerable.
Amid the lively music played by the band, people gathered and chatted merrily. Ymir only needed to glance around to see many big names he had only seen on TV.
Congressmen, the Mayor of New York, and J. Jonah Jameson from the Daily Bugle?
Ymir's eyes twitched; he didn't want to meet Peter here. Who knows if Peter, with his spider-sense, might recognize him.
The men in the room were wealthy, and the women were beautiful—this was the glamorous and hedonistic life of the American upper class. The common people at the bottom of society had no such leisure to spend their time at the technology center.
Ymir didn't feel out of place; in his previous life, he was an adult with several years of work experience. Although he had never attended such a high-level party, he wasn't about to show his inexperience. Since he wasn't the main character, no one paid much attention to him. He could just find a place to eat and pass the time.
"Kathleen!" Kathleen, following Felicia through the venue, soon met an acquaintance.
Could this be her sister's boyfriend? Ymir looked over curiously. The man who came to greet her was a tall and handsome Asian man, exuding an aura of success and gentlemanly manners.
But then again, it didn't seem right. In Kathleen's dreams, Ymir had inadvertently learned that the person she admired was Tony Stark.
"Another playboy..." Ymir's expression was as if he had eaten a mosquito leg.
"Ymir?" Kathleen noticed her brother's twisted expression and asked gently, "Let me introduce you to my Chinese friend, Xiang."
"After we moved to Manhattan, Xiang has been very helpful to us!"
"It's my honor," Xiang said, nodding slightly with a glass of red wine in hand.
Ymir carefully examined Xiang; it was the first time he had seen a Chinese person since being reborn in this world. "Pleased to meet you!" he said sincerely. Meeting an old acquaintance in a foreign land, even though Ymir's body was no longer Chinese, he still felt a bit excited. Not to mention, according to his sister, Xiang had helped them before.
"Me too!" Xiang shook Ymir's hand warmly, almost like a brother-in-law meeting his brother-in-law for the first time. After greeting, Xiang said to Kathleen, "Can you come with me? I have a few good friends I can introduce to you."
Kathleen hesitated and looked at Ymir, "But, my brother..."
"No problem, come along. Maybe I can introduce some nice friends to your brother too," Xiang winked, losing the air of a successful man that Ymir had initially felt.
Ymir's expression, which was initially three parts friendly and seven parts distant, became seven parts disdain and three parts distant. He vaguely guessed Xiang's intentions towards his sister but didn't want to be dragged into it. He waved his hand, as if shooing them away, "You go ahead. I want to stay here and look at the hoverboard."
Next to where Ymir and the others were standing was a hoverboard exhibit. A host in a shirt was demonstrating the hoverboard to the audience:
"This is the first concept model of a magnetic levitation hoverboard launched by Osborn Enterprises. Based on Earnshaw's Theorem, we have achieved the function of moving the hoverboard using four disc-shaped magnets working together. You can control the direction and position through a remote or by tilting your body."
The sleek design and smooth flying mode gave this magnetic levitation hoverboard a futuristic sci-fi style. Even the well-traveled guests who had been invited to the event were captivated by the exhibit.
The host snapped his fingers, and the hoverboard slowly rose from the ground, reaching a height of two meters above the stage. He leaned forward slightly, and the hoverboard immediately floated out!
"Wow! Incredible!" The effect of the magnetic levitation hoverboard immediately drew everyone's attention, followed by a series of exclamations. Unlike previous levitation demonstrations, this hoverboard was gradually evolving into a flying device.
Levitating above the ground has always been a human dream, and with the development of technology, people are no longer satisfied with just floating above the ground. They want truly free and easy flying devices.
"Osborn Enterprises?" Ymir remembered; this was the company controlled by the Osborn family, Spider-Man's good friend. So, this magnetic levitation hoverboard must be the predecessor of the bat-shaped "Demon Glider" from later on?
In Ymir's previous life, many technologies had already been invented but were kept secret for various reasons. In this Marvel universe, the development of technology seemed even more distorted.
Perhaps because of the existence of superhumans, Ymir sometimes felt that people like Tony Stark, Doctor Doom, or Mr. Fantastic had IQs that could outshine Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci combined.
