The Kingdom of Lunar was the most powerful nation on the Garuna continent. Its royal capital, Lunafa, has a particularly high cultural level.
So Alto was very proud to be hired as the librarian of the Royal Library in Lunafa at the age of eighteen.
Alto came from a commoner background and his birthplace was very poor. However, his parents were willing to cut back on their own food to send him and his other siblings to school.
As a way of repaying his parents for their kindness, Alto worked as hard as he could.
He had always been a book lover, so he enjoyed his work. He had a good relationship with his boss and co-workers, and his salary was enough to live on while sending money home to the country.
Meanwhile, in the vicinity of Lunafa Castle, near the library and the king’s residence, there was also a dormitory for military and civilian officials to live in. However, it did not bother Alto.
Life was smooth sailing for him.
…Except for one complaint.

“…Hmmm….”
A stifled voice came from between the stacks, making Alto stop putting the returned book back on the shelf.
…Again…
He let out a disgusted sigh.
A young man and woman were embracing each other when he peeked through the shelves towards the voices.
… No, it was not like they were just hugging each other.
The man lifted one of the woman’s legs and pressed his lower body against it, thrusting his hips up hard.
The woman wrapped her arms around the man’s neck and wiggled her hips to accept him – truly enraptured.
“Hmmm, good! Ah!”
A moaning, disgusting water sound and panting leaked out.
The exciting scene unfolding in front of him made the young Aalto’s lower body heat up, even though he knew in his head it was not good enough.
“Hey, Lloyd-sama…”
The woman made a sweet sound.
That’s when the man raised his eyes.
Alto retreated reflexively, but the man was shameless. He put his index finger to his lips and winked lightly.
‘Don’t disturb me, go away.’
– was what that look meant.
The man thrust his hips up even harder.
“Oh, my God!”
The woman could not hold her voice in anymore. She turned over heavily and climaxed.

“…Will you please stop this nonsense?”
Alto stared at the man, veins bulging on his temples.
“This is neither your bedchamber or whorehouse! Impure heterosexual relationship in the library is against the rules! If you do it again, I’ll really report you to the Knight Commander!”
“My bad, my bad. I was just really horny.”
It was Lloyd who laughed without taking offense. Born into a distinguished family that produced knights, he himself was chosen as one of only 20 court knights in the kingdom at the age of 23.
An elite…
.…but…
His character is horrible!!!
Lloyd was Alto’s natural enemy.
In fact, this was the third time that Alto had witnessed Lloyd’s affair in the library. In addition, they were all different women.
Tall, muscular, blond, blue-eyed, from a prominent family, and a knight in shining armor was a woman’s dream guy.
He warned the women as soon as he met them, but there had been no improvement. In fact, even his colleagues were in awe of Lloyd’s family name and turned a blind eye to it.
Alto could not stand to have his sacred workplace tainted.
However, Lloyd was nowhere to be seen by the angry Alto.
“Too much anger will make you bald, Alto.”
Lloyd stroked Alto’s head languidly in a teasing tone.
“Don’t be ridiculous!”
Alto brushed his hand away. It was frustrating and excruciating.
The origins, the short stature, the hereditary red hair, the dull pair of hazel eyes, and the childish facial features – there was no doubt that he could be mistaken for a woman. It made him angry that everything was being insulted by Lloyd.
The combination of his own insecurities and Lloyd’s shameless behavior made Alto hate him.
“And please don’t call me by my name so casually!”
Lloyd looked bemused for a moment, then scratched his head.
“I’m sorry about that, librarian-sama.”
According to Alto’s intuition, he deliberately rephrased it in a sarcastic manner to disconcert him.
“What the hell do you want in the library, anyway? If you want to bring a woman in, there are plenty of other suitable places to go!”
“No, I had to run an errand, but I just called out to her and the girl joined me, so I just took it first…”
When Lloyd was making an excuse…
“Lloyd! What are you doing here?”
With a dismayed voice, another man approached.
“Ryun!”
Lloyd called out his name.
“It’s been several hours since you said you’ll go and borrow Zepper Dictionary?” The Knight Commander reprimanded.
Ryun took Lloyd and then turned to Alto.
“I’m sorry, Alto. Lloyd was interrupting your work again, wasn’t he?”
“No, it’s not…”
Alto turned red and looked down.
Ryun came from the same famous family as Lloyd, and they were cousins. Same age, same court knight. They were about the same height, but Ryun was more slender. With his golden brown hair and grass-colored eyes, he was an image of a nobleman on his own.
When Lloyd and Ryun stood side by side, it was as picturesque as a passage from an epic saga. The two had fans not only in King’s Castle, but throughout the kingdom.
Thus, although he was of the same sex, Alto was also a fan of Ryun….
Soft-spoken, friendly and knowledgeable, Ryun was secretly –though it was obvious– admired by Alto.
“Alto, I read the book you recommended the other day. It was interesting. I’ll be returning it next time, so can you pick out a book for me to borrow next?”
“Sure, Ryun-sama. I’ll gladly do it. If you’re busy, would you like me to send a book to the government office? And I’ll put the book back in the library when you’re done reading it.”
“It would help if you did. But it takes a lot of work, right?”
“No, no. That’s part of being a librarian.”
Ryun was a regular at the library and his reading preferences were similar to Alto’s taste.
Alto was glad to be able to converse with Ryun.
“…Librarian, why are you acting so different when it comes to me?”
Lloyd pouted and stared at Alto and Ryun in turn.
“I mean, that’s common, right? Alto, can you lead me to the section of the Zepper dictionary?”
“Of course, Ryun-sama!”
Ryun and Alto walked away together.
Lloyd followed them with a look on his face as if he had bitten down on a bitter worm at Alto’s attitude, which would have wagged his tail to shreds if he was a dog.
