When Wu Potian returned home after his morning exercise, the clinic was already full of patients waiting to be seen. He immediately asked his busy parents, "Dad! Mom! I'm back. Is there anything I can help with?"

Chen Yuemei, who was helping a patient with an IV drip, saw Wu Potian return from his morning exercise and smiled kindly. She instructed him, "Xiao Tian! Your breakfast is in the pot. Go inside quickly, wash up, eat, and then rest at home."

Wu Potian, hearing his mother's words, realized he was drenched in sweat and staying there wasn't appropriate. He didn't argue and instead went around to enter the yard from the back door.

After taking a shower and eating breakfast, Wu Potian didn't follow his mother's advice to rest in his room upstairs. Instead, he returned to the clinic. Just as he was about to speak, Chen Yuemei preempted him, "Xiao Tian! Didn't I tell you to rest upstairs? Why are you back down here?"

"Mom! I've been busy in Yanjing for so many years. Suddenly stopping and doing nothing really feels strange. Since you and Dad are so busy, I might as well come down and help. How about this: you handle the IV drips, and I'll handle the medications. This way, you won't be too busy to handle everything."

Wu Potian was determined to treat more patients and improve his medical skills. He couldn't possibly rest at home without doing anything. When he heard his mother's words, he immediately offered to help in the clinic.

When Wu Potian heard his mother mention Hu Zi, he immediately thought of his high school best friend, Wang Hu. They had been classmates since elementary school, and for those ten years, they were inseparable. Because the military was under closed management, they lost contact.

Thinking of his best friend Wang Hu, Wu Potian immediately said to his mother, "Mom! Give me Wang Hu's phone number. I'll call him right now."

After getting Wang Hu's phone number from his mother, Wu Potian immediately picked up the phone on the counter to call Wang Hu. Just as he was halfway through dialing, a middle-aged man rushed into the clinic, sweating profusely, and shouted to Wu Qingsheng, "Doctor Wu! Please come with me quickly! This middle-aged man was Wu Potian's neighbor, named Huang Tao. When Wu Qingsheng heard Huang Tao's words, he immediately said to the patient in front of him, "Aunt Zhang! I'm sorry, I need to go see Old Huang's mother. I'll be back soon, please wait a moment."

Wu Qingsheng, without waiting for the patient's response, picked up the medical bag and quickly walked out of the clinic.

With his father out on a house call, Wu Potian dispensed medication for a few patients and then had nothing to do. He sat at the counter, thinking of how to persuade his father to let him help with the patients.

Just as Wu Potian was sitting idly at the counter, a young woman rushed into the clinic, carrying a two-year-old child, and asked in a panic, "Doctor! Doctor, please save my child!"

Hearing the young woman's plea, Chen Yuemei immediately came out from the back yard. Seeing the child in the woman's arms, who was already in a critical condition, she quickly examined the child. The child's face was pale, and his breathing was weak. Although she wasn't sure what was wrong with the child, she was very certain that the situation was extremely urgent and that they might not be able to wait for her husband to return.

"Ma'am! Your child's condition is very critical. Our doctor is currently on a house call, and we may not be able to help. I suggest you take your child to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment. It might still be in time."

When the young woman entered the clinic with her child, Wu Potian had already stood up from his chair. Seeing the child's pale face and blue lips, indicating severe shock, he knew that even if an ambulance arrived now, it might be too late to get the child to the hospital. As a doctor, he could not stand by and watch a life that could be saved disappear before his eyes.

When Wu Potian saw the young woman about to rush to the hospital, he quickly stopped her, "Ma'am! Please wait! Your child's lips are blue, indicating severe shock. Given the current situation, your child may not survive the trip to the hospital. If you trust me, give me your child now, and I might be able to save him."

"Xiao Tian! What are you doing? The child is in severe shock. Even if your father returns, it might be too late. If you keep the child, won't that bring trouble to our clinic?" Chen Yuemei, though not a doctor, had worked in the clinic for many years and knew some medical basics. When she saw the child's condition, she knew it was very critical, so she advised the woman to take the child to the hospital. She was surprised that Wu Potian would take the child at this moment and immediately stepped in to stop him, considering the potential trouble that could arise if the child's condition worsened.

Wu Potian understood his mother's concerns, but his primary concern was the child's safety. Seeing his mother's intervention, he said seriously, "Mom! The child's condition is very critical, and he won't make it to the hospital. As a doctor, I can't just stand by and watch a life disappear. I must save this child."

When Wu Potian spoke, the young woman, seeing his age, was still hesitant. However, the child was her only hope, and when she heard the conversation between Chen Yuemei and Wu Potian, she became convinced of his medical skills and saw him as her last hope. She pleaded with Wu Potian, "Doctor! Please save my child! I'll do anything if you save my child."

Hearing the woman's plea, Wu Potian took the child from her arms, felt his pulse, and reassured her, "Ma'am! Don't be upset. Since I asked you to leave your child with me, I will do my best to save him."
