"Hey!" Before Wu Potian could finish his sentence, as his eyes swept over the deceased's face, he suddenly froze. At that moment, a flood of both unfamiliar and familiar information surged into Wu Potian's mind, causing him to let out a curious exclamation. He reached out to press the deceased's eyeballs, and after the pupils deformed, he released them, only to unexpectedly find that the deceased's pupils had automatically returned to their original state.

At that moment, a thought immediately sprang to Wu Potian's mind: "This patient is not dead, but in a state of apparent death."

At this point, for some reason, or perhaps driven by instinct, Wu Potian hurriedly walked to the disinfection basin next to the emergency room, rubbed some soap foam on his hands, and applied it to the patient's nostrils. He discovered that a bubble formed in the patient's nostrils.

The confirmation of his hypothesis made Wu Potian extremely excited. He couldn't help but mutter to himself, "I knew it would be like this!"

Wu Potian was so excited because the patient was indeed not dead. However, his actions and expressions, when seen by the patient's family, were extremely offensive. They believed that Wu Potian was insulting their loved one and gloating over their misfortune.

At that moment, a middle-aged woman with tears on her face quickly walked up to Wu Potian and slapped him angrily, shouting, "Bastard! Get out of here, doctor! Doctor! Call the hospital director for me."

The slap immediately brought Wu Potian back to his senses from his excited state. When he saw the patient's family members who looked like they wanted to tear him apart, and recalled his own actions, he immediately realized that his behavior might have been inappropriate.

Although his face felt hot and stinging, the pain was almost negligible compared to the excitement of discovering that the patient was not dead. At that moment, he entered a state similar to when he was in a game, immediately picked up the ventilator next to the emergency table, and reattached it to the patient's face. He then placed his hands on top of each other and pressed down on the lower part of the elderly man's sternum, causing it to depress 3-4 centimeters each time, and then released it. As the sternum returned to its original position, he repeated the process.

After performing a series of emergency procedures on the patient, Wu Potian then held the patient's wrist. As he did so, he felt himself enter a strange state, and the patient's internal condition slowly unfolded before his eyes like a map.

At that moment, Wu Potian clearly felt that the patient had a hidden illness in his brain. The patient had suffered a brain injury in his youth, which caused cranial damage. Today, the old injury had flared up, temporarily interrupting the functions of the brain and upper brainstem, leading to the inhibition of the medulla oblongata and cervical spinal cord, and causing the autonomic nervous system and vascular regulation to malfunction, ultimately resulting in a state of apparent death.

Upon reaching this conclusion, the treatment method for this condition immediately came to Wu Potian's mind, making him feel both amazed and puzzled.

Just as Wu Potian was puzzled by this, the door to the emergency room was pushed open, and the hospital director, Liu Guangxi, along with several deputy directors, entered. When Liu Guangxi saw the people in the emergency room, he quickly put on a sorrowful expression and said, "Director Zhang! Death is irreversible, please—"

"Liu Guangxi! How do you run this hospital? Is this person from your hospital? My father has passed away, and instead of showing any sympathy, he smeared soap foam on my father's nose and even danced around excitedly in front of us. Now, get him out of here immediately, and I never want to see him again." Seeing Liu Guangxi arrive, the middle-aged woman immediately walked up to him, pointing at Wu Potian, who was taking the patient's pulse, and shouted angrily.

Liu Guangxi, the director of the People's Hospital, had received a report from his secretary as soon as he arrived at the hospital that morning, informing him that the father of his superior, Director Zhang, had been brought to the hospital for emergency treatment. He immediately rushed to the emergency department, but on the way, he learned that Director Zhang's father had died despite the efforts to save him.

Upon hearing this news, Liu Guangxi immediately abandoned his previous plan and gathered several deputy directors to come over again. He reasoned that if Director Zhang blamed him, he could find someone to take the fall among the deputies.

Although Liu Guangxi did not know who Wu Potian was, he recognized the clothes Wu Potian was wearing as those worn by the temporary workers in the hospital's logistics department. As a doctor himself, when he heard the middle-aged woman's outburst, he couldn't help but shudder, as he knew very well what Wu Potian's actions implied.

At that moment, Liu Guangxi's first thought was not to explain Wu Potian's actions but to stop them, because he knew that if the patient was not dead, it would be a serious medical accident. Even if a deputy director took the fall, he would still be held responsible as the head of the hospital.

To protect his position as director, Liu Guangxi could only go along with the mistake and shouted at Wu Potian, "You bastard, what are you doing? You are fired, and I want you to leave the People's Hospital immediately."

Liu Guangxi's roar pulled Wu Potian out of his strange state. As a temporary worker at the People's Hospital, Wu Potian knew that Liu Guangxi was not only the hospital's director but also the vice president of the Medical University and a doctor who received a national allowance. When Liu Guangxi heard the middle-aged woman's account, he should have known what Wu Potian was doing, but he chose to pretend to be ignorant and go along with the mistake, which made Wu Potian feel a deep sense of sorrow for the patients at the People's Hospital.

Wu Potian did not know why he had discovered that the patient was in a state of apparent death and had the confidence to treat the patient's condition, allowing the patient to continue living. However, Liu Guangxi's reaction at this moment made him extremely angry. Although he valued his job at the hospital, he could not tolerate Liu Guangxi's decision to cover up the mistake to avoid responsibility.

At that moment, Wu Potian released the patient's wrist and calmly said to the angry family members, "If I'm not mistaken, the patient suffered a brain injury in his youth, which caused cranial damage. Today, the old injury flared up, temporarily interrupting the functions of the brain and upper brainstem, leading to the inhibition of the medulla oblongata and cervical spinal cord, and causing the autonomic nervous system and vascular regulation to malfunction, ultimately resulting in a state of apparent death."

The angry family members were clearly taken aback by Wu Potian's words. As the patient's children, they were very familiar with their father's condition and knew that he had been injured in battle when he was young. When they heard Wu Potian's explanation and recalled his previous actions, they immediately realized that what he said might be true. They were about to ask a question, but before they could speak, Liu Guangxi preempted them and shouted at Wu Potian, "You bastard, do I need to call security to escort you out?"

As the director of the People's Hospital, Liu Guangxi naturally knew about Director Zhang's father's condition. He did not expect that a temporary worker would be so well-informed about the patient's condition. When he saw the expression on Director Zhang's face, he felt a jolt and angrily asked his secretary, "What are you waiting for? Get this bastard out of our hospital immediately."

"Director Liu! Director Zhang! I think what this young man said makes sense. The hospital's work is always extremely strict and must be based on facts. Let me re-examine the old leader."

Another deputy director, who usually handled the neurology department, knew very well why Liu Guangxi had brought him along. However, as a responsible deputy director, he had to come. Unexpectedly, this might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, and he might even have a chance to replace Liu Guangxi. At that moment, he quickly stepped forward and began to re-examine the patient.
