31.

Eunseo had never experienced something like this before.

It all felt like a dream. And if she gave him her permission, she could experience this every single day. Instead of pumping her breast like a thief in a washroom, she could be close to the man she liked and let him touch her.

In the end, Eunseo decided to let herself be seduced. Her life was hard enough, so didn’t she deserve a little enjoyment? She knew that it will end terribly and she will have to endure the emotional pain of not being able to be with him in the end.

But just once… Eunseo wanted to do what she desired.

Of course, she needed to set clear boundaries.

Firstly, she could never let Jihwan know how she felt about him. He needed to believe that she was doing this because it was necessary.

But even when so many thoughts crossed her mind, it never occurred to her that Kwon Jihwan might fall in love with her. She didn’t believe such a thing was possible. It was like worrying there might be a flood in a desert.

It was never going to happen.

The next morning, there was a team meeting in the design department. Just as Se Hyunwoo told her before, Eunseo’s design was receiving the most attention. There were many requests to copy her exact design including even the furniture.

“Miss Kang, you’re so amazing!”

“See?! I told you her design was great.”

The senior designers complimented her, and Eunseo felt like she won a gold medal.

“Thank you so much! I’ll work even harder from now on!”

Hong Yeri, who opposed Eunseo’s design, looked rigid. She didn’t say a word during the meeting. Hong Yeri’s design wasn’t receiving good reviews. Eunseo liked Yeri’s design. It was a modern french look, but the problem was that it didn’t suit the one-room space. It was a little too much, especially because it included expensive marble floors. If you were rich enough, it wouldn’t have been a problem. But a rich person wouldn’t be living in a one-bedroom condo.

When the meeting was almost over, the team leader announced,

“This is separate from our meeting today. I just got word from the president’s office that his secretary will be taking two hours off everyday for his Chinese lesson. So he needs someone to fill in between 2 to 4 o’clock every day. He asked someone from our department. It won’t require much work. You just need to sit and take phone calls. Is there anyone who wants to volunteer?”

No one raised their hands. They all glanced at each other, and it was clear no one wanted to do it. It wasn’t going to be hard work, but no one wanted to do extra duties that weren’t theirs to begin with. And what if you made a mistake with a call? You’ll get in trouble.

And it wasn’t like you were going to get paid more for doing this job.

One of the designers even complained,

“Why should one of us have to do that? Why did they pick our department?”

The team leader replied,

“The showroom is opening and running now, so the design department has the least amount of work right now. You know all the other departments are working late everyday, don’t you? So no one’s going to volunteer?”

When no one raised their hands, the team leader turned to Eunseo.

“Miss Kang, how about you? You’re the newest designer here, so you have the least number of projects. Eunseo, what do you think?”

Eunseo sighed in relief. The moment her team leader mentioned this topic, she knew what was going on. This had to be all set up by Kwon Jihwan. He must have known that no one would want to take extra work. So he knew this duty would fall on Eunseo, who was the youngest and newest member of the company.

But if Eunseo volunteered, it would have looked suspicious. This was why she kept quiet.

Eunseo replied,

“Alright. I will do it.”

When Eunseo accepted the job, everyone looked relieved. The team leader murmured,

“Good. Then for now, we will have Eunseo do it…”

Just then, Heesun raised her hand and interrupted him.

“No, wait. It’s not fair to dump this work on Eunseo just because she’s the newest!”

Eunseo flinched while Seo Hyunwoo agreed with Heesun.

“I have a problem with this too. Miss Kang has her own duties to take care of, so this isn’t fair. Everyone’s equally busy, so you can’t make her do more work just because she’s a newbie. I will volunteer if necessary.”

The team leader’s face turned bright red. He muttered,

“I… I wasn’t asking her to do it just because she’s the newest…”

Eunseo quickly jumped in,

“It’s alright. I don’t mind. It’s true that I have the least amount of work, so I think it makes sense that I do this.”
