Wen Long's idea was to lure the herd of wild boars away from Catherine, giving her a chance to catch her breath. This way, he could temporarily ignore Catherine's safety and focus on taking out a few of the leading wild boars with all his might.
Wen Long succeeded, and soon these wild boars shifted their target to Wen Long, who was moving more slowly and was closer to them—of course, the slower speed was a result of Wen Long deliberately slowing down to lure the wild boars into his trap.
Seeing that a wild boar was approaching him, Wen Long repeated his previous actions.
He continuously slowed down, pretending to be too tired to maintain his high-speed run. When the wild boar was just a meter away, Wen Long suddenly jumped to the side as the wild boar charged. The wild boar, unable to stop its momentum, rammed its sharp tusks into a sturdy, tall tree, unable to pull them out for a while.
"Sure enough, they are stupid pigs, falling for the same trap twice! Meow!"
Seeing another wild boar impale its tusks into the tree, Wen Long immediately reacted.
He came to an abrupt stop, then jumped onto the immobile wild boar. He plunged both his knives into the wild boar's neck, accurately hitting the major artery!
The entire process was as smooth as slicing through tofu, with no hesitation. Once his goal was achieved, Wen Long didn't linger and continued to accelerate, rushing forward.
Blood gushed from the damaged neck artery like a fountain, and the wild boar struggled to pull its tusks out of the tree trunk, but to no avail. It could only let out continuous, painful howls, waiting to die from excessive blood loss!
"Six wild boars and one wild boar king left..."
Seeing another wild boar fall, Wen Long felt a sense of satisfaction. However, he knew that the real threat was the wild boar king. Therefore, he didn't let his guard down and continued to accelerate, running forward, preparing for the next opportunity.
As he ran, Wen Long looked back and, as expected, saw the leader of the herd, the wild boar king, following him. The wild boar king had a more massive body, sharper and more robust tusks, and tougher skin.
"Using these stupid wild boars to crash into trees is a good method, but I wonder if it will work on the wild boar king? If it does, it would be a highly efficient strategy, meow!"
While Wen Long was thinking this, he soon found another opportunity.
A towering tree, seemingly over a thousand years old and requiring three people to barely encircle it, appeared before Wen Long. He knew this was the best chance!
He ran straight toward the massive tree, with the wild boar king, charging like a tank, following behind. However, unlike the other wild boars, the wild boar king seemed to be more intelligent.
Wen Long slowed down, and the wild boar king also slowed down, clearly to prevent itself from crashing into the tree due to inertia.
"Even a stupid pig can't fall for the same trap three times, meow! But what if I do this?"
Wen Long, noticing the wild boar king's caution, didn't give up. Instead, he changed his approach and suddenly accelerated, as if trying to escape from the wild boar king's pursuit.
The wild boar king, seeing Wen Long accelerate without hesitation, also sped up.
At the peak of his speed, Wen Long knew that even with his agile body, he couldn't ignore the basic laws of physics and change direction instantly. The likely outcome was that he would crash into the tree like the previous wild boars. Although Wen Long didn't have tusks, he could still be dazed and eventually caught by the pursuing herd.
However, Wen Long was well-prepared.
He kept accelerating, faster and faster, until he reached his maximum speed. The wild boar king, seeing Wen Long's speed, knew it couldn't change direction instantly either, so it also accelerated to its maximum speed!
Thus, the wild boar king chased Wen Long all the way to the base of the thousand-year-old tree, maintaining its top speed. It looked like Wen Long was about to collide with the massive tree trunk, just like the rabbit in the "Waiting for the Rabbit" fable!
It was impossible to jump to the side like before, but Wen Long was confident. He had a skill the wild boar lacked: climbing trees!
As he approached the ancient tree, Wen Long leaped up and landed high on the trunk. His four paws extended from their pads and tightly gripped the bark of the thousand-year-old tree.
Wen Long knew he would face a severe impact, and if he didn't hold on tight, he might be shaken off the tree.
Sure enough, just as Wen Long gripped the tree, the wild boar king, like a tank, crashed into the trunk!
A shockwave, like a magnitude 9 earthquake, suddenly jolted through Wen Long's body, making him feel as if he was holding onto a fragile sapling rather than a thousand-year-old tree. His body swayed with the tree.
However, Wen Long managed to hold on, his four paws deeply embedded in the bark, leaving eighteen deep scratches. The reason for eighteen scratches was that, as a cat, Wen Long had five toes on his front paws and four on his hind paws, each with retractable claws, resulting in eighteen deep claw marks on the tree trunk.
When the shaking subsided, Wen Long, still clinging to the tree, looked down and saw the mighty wild boar, like its subordinates before, with its sharp tusks impaled in the tree!
