The next morning, when Wenlong opened his eyes, he found that Catherine was already dressed and ready to go.
"Mr. Cat, we're going hunting today!" Catherine said to Wenlong.
"Hunting? Oh, right," Wenlong then recalled that he had fallen asleep in this woman's arms last night, "Indeed, as a hunter, one must constantly hunt to hone their skills. It's a good opportunity for me to test my abilities in real combat."
Wenlong thought to himself, naturally filled with anticipation for the hunt.
Although the former Wenlong was a top player, it was still just a game, and real hunting was vastly different. So when he heard they were going hunting, he couldn't help but feel a bit excited.
"Oh oh oh oh, the hunting spirit within me is burning fiercely again! Meow!"
Wenlong jumped out of bed without hesitation and followed Catherine out of the room...
Hunters don't go hunting without a purpose. Generally, most hunters in Mirard Village first receive commissions from the Hunter's Guild's Mirard branch before embarking on their hunting journey.
The reason most hunters prefer to take commissions from the Hunter's Guild is mainly due to three advantages.
First, completing a Hunter's Guild commission not only rewards the hunter with materials obtained from the prey but also provides money and items from the Hunter's Guild. This makes the rewards more substantial and more attractive, encouraging hunters to compete for tasks.
Second, the Hunter's Guild is an organization composed of hunters from the entire continent. Each completed Hunter's Guild task significantly boosts a hunter's reputation among other hunters. The higher the reputation, the higher the level of tasks one can take, and the easier it is to find strong teammates.
Finally, and most crucially, when accepting tasks from the Hunter's Guild, hunters often receive support from the guild. This includes front-line camps for rest and a large number of free support items, which are essential for hunters who often hunt in uninhabited areas.
Because of these three advantages, before setting out, Catherine first took Wenlong to the Hunter's Guild's Mirard branch.
"May I help you?"
The receptionist at the Hunter's Guild's Mirard branch was a woman named Sasha, wearing a dress similar to a qipao, which accentuated her youthful figure.
"Oh oh oh, there are so many beautiful women in this world! Meow!" Wenlong couldn't help but marvel, "But the receptionists can't be too unattractive, can they? From this, it seems the Hunter's Guild understands the needs of the young, sweaty men..."
While Wenlong was thinking this, Catherine spoke.
"Excuse me... Excuse me... Which is the lowest-level task?" Her tone was very polite, even a bit nervous, as she asked.
"The lowest-level task? Sasha recommends this one, hunting a Boar. It's good for practicing basic hunting skills and isn't dangerous. It's perfect for new hunters just joining the ranks!" Sasha said with a professional smile.
"Lowest-level task?" Wenlong was taken aback, "Why take such a low-level task? Is she looking down on me? Does she want me to start with the lowest-level task?"
"Wait, wait, wait," Wenlong suddenly jumped up, landing on the reception desk, startling Sasha, "Meow, a low-level task? That's too much of an insult! I strongly request a more challenging task!"
"Is... Is this your Felyne?" Seeing Wenlong suddenly jump up, Sasha turned to Catherine and asked.
"Sorry... Mr. Cat, stop causing trouble."
Although Catherine tried to stop Wenlong, it was too late. Wenlong's outburst had already drawn the attention of the other hunters, who turned to see what was happening. This made the already nervous Catherine even more tense.
"I'm not causing trouble. Hunting a Boar? Give me a more challenging task! My hunting spirit is already restless! Meow!"
"Haha, a Felyne is just a hunter's pet, talking about a hunting spirit..." Soon, someone in the crowd laughed.
Mirard Village was a place for new hunters, and the hunters here were far less experienced than Wenlong. They didn't recognize the Kirin armor Catherine was wearing. As for Wenlong, who was making a fuss on the reception desk, he was a complete novice, without any hunting equipment, looking like a clueless newcomer.
Because of this, the hunters in Mirard Village naturally laughed.
"What are you laughing at? You fools who can't recognize talent! I'll show you my strength, meow!"
Since he was a Felyne, Wenlong's every move had a certain cuteness. His fluffy body and paws, even when waving fiercely, were far less intimidating than sharp weapons. This made Wenlong's angry outburst not only fail to intimidate the others but also cause more laughter in the crowd.
"Then..." Seeing the situation getting out of hand, Sasha looked at Catherine, who finally nodded. With Catherine's approval, Sasha said, "Alright, there's a task to hunt a large wild boar. Recently, large wild boars have been causing trouble in the villagers' vegetable gardens. We hope you can help us deal with these troublesome wild boars."
"Hmph, that's more like it, meow." Hearing Sasha change the task, Wenlong jumped down from the desk.
In fact, Wenlong didn't necessarily need to hunt a very powerful creature.
After all, Wenlong had just arrived in this world, retaining his memories but still needing time to gauge his true strength. If he rushed into things, it could be dangerous. So Wenlong went along with it, pretending to reluctantly accept the task of hunting a large wild boar.
"Since that's the case, let's start with hunting a large wild boar. Although it's not very strong, it's much better than a Boar, which has almost no offensive capabilities. It's a good opportunity for me to get used to hunting with this body," Wenlong thought.
