Chapter 76

Xinglong is very strong, and this is something Wenlong knows better than anyone. Whether it's offensive power, defensive power, speed, or attack methods, Xinglong far surpasses monsters of the Great Bird's level. Compared to creatures like the Beaver and the Great Wild Boar King, the gap is even greater.

Of course, besides Xinglong's own strength, the Star Feather Butterflies surrounding it are also a source of great trouble for Wenlong. Although the Star Feather Butterflies are relatively easy to deal with when they appear alone, if they appear with Xinglong, they can attack from the back or side while the hunter is engaged with Xinglong, making it almost impossible to defend against.

Moreover, the closer one gets to Xinglong's territory, the more numerous the Star Feather Butterflies become, making it even harder to break through.

Therefore, Wenlong knows that with his current weapons and equipment, it's impossible to defeat Xinglong. Level 9 weapons, which are not yet at the Great Bird's level, would only bounce off Xinglong's hard scales, and the attacks would be like tickling to Xinglong.

Attacking Xinglong under these circumstances would almost certainly mean certain death.

So, from the beginning, Wenlong's plan was to obtain evidence of Xinglong's existence and rescue the people. Once the goal was achieved, he would immediately retreat without hesitation.

"Hey, woman, do you remember what I told you on the way here? Meow?" Before taking action, Wenlong asked Catherine again about the key points of the operation.

"I remember, Mr. Cat..." Catherine replied with some concern, "In short, you will lure Xinglong away, and then I will go to rescue the people. But Mr. Cat, if Xinglong keeps chasing you, how will you escape?"

"I have my ways, no need to worry about it, meow." Wenlong said.

"Oh..." Thinking about how Wenlong always managed to turn danger into safety, Catherine didn't say anything more.

"Hmph... Then, let's begin, meow!"

Saying this, Wenlong took out the protective stone he had picked up earlier and put it on. At that moment, the stealth skill activated, making Wenlong's figure become blurry and almost invisible unless carefully observed.

"To get close to Xinglong, the stealth skill is a good choice. Otherwise, I would probably be stopped by the surrounding Star Feather Butterflies before even getting close. I don't want to be entangled by a group of Star Feather Butterflies; they are too troublesome..." Wenlong thought.

Then Wenlong started moving cautiously, retracting his claws into the paw pads and being careful not to step on the dry leaves on the ground to ensure his movements were as silent as possible.

In this way, Wenlong carefully found a route, avoiding the surrounding Star Feather Butterflies, and gradually approached Xinglong. Finally, he came within three meters of Xinglong. At this moment, Xinglong still hadn't noticed Wenlong and was focused on the fallen Claude, with a look of disgust in its eyes for the intruder in its territory.

"Good opportunity!" Wenlong thought.

Wenlong crouched, then put a strong walk pill in his mouth, preparing to make a sudden move.

Next, Wenlong suddenly exerted force, took a step forward, and leaped high, jumping directly onto Xinglong. At the same time, he drew both his swords and stabbed downward toward Xinglong's side.

The strong walk pill in his mouth was also crushed at this moment, and as he entered the strong walk state, Wenlong also activated the demon transformation unique to his dual swords!

Wenlong remembered that in the game, demon transformation not only increased attack speed and allowed the use of special moves but also made him immune to weapon deflection and wind pressure!

However, since he didn't know if these characteristics existed in this world, even though he was in demon transformation, Wenlong still aimed for the gaps between Xinglong's scales. Wenlong believed that targeting these areas, if the blade could penetrate the gaps, it might cause a negligible amount of damage to Xinglong, which would be enough to achieve his goal.

And indeed, Wenlong succeeded!

Wenlong's dual swords pierced through the smallest and weakest scale, and with a forceful lever, he pried up an orange-yellow scale. Then, Wenlong reached out, grabbed the scale, and put it in his pocket.

"Alright, mission item obtained. With this, I am the first person to provide evidence proving that this monster is Xinglong. In any case, I win this mission! Meow!"

However, while Wenlong's goal was achieved, Xinglong was enraged!

Although the damage Wenlong inflicted on Xinglong was almost negligible, and he only pried off a small scale from the countless scales on Xinglong's body, it was like having a splinter under a fingernail suddenly pulled out. The pain, though minimal, was enough to drive one mad!

Of course, this was something Wenlong had anticipated. In fact, provoking Xinglong to anger and making it chase him was part of his initial plan. Only by luring Xinglong away could Catherine approach the fallen Claude and rescue him.

Everything was part of Wenlong's plan.

When Xinglong turned angrily, Wenlong also jumped off its body.

As Xinglong swung its front claws to attack the insignificant Ailu cat, Wenlong's legs began to crouch and gather strength.

When Xinglong's front claws, accompanied by a whistling wind, approached, Wenlong's legs exerted force, and he sprinted forward!

"Since I'm in the strong walk state, I don't have to worry about stamina consumption during this time. I'll sprint at the fastest speed!"

The moment Wenlong leaped, Xinglong's sharp claws almost grazed him, but he managed to escape just in time.

Of course, Wenlong was drenched in cold sweat, thinking that if it weren't for the strong walk pill, he would have definitely been caught by the claws. With his current armor level, even with the enhancement from Grandma Ruishi's forging skill, it wouldn't have been able to withstand Xinglong's attack!

The reason he couldn't withstand it was simply because the level difference between them was too great, so great that it couldn't be simply compensated for by forging skills. Therefore, he could only dodge, and any mistake would mean serious injury or even death!

However, Wenlong ultimately dodged, and Xinglong became even more enraged. It never expected an Ailu cat to dare to toy with it. As its anger increased, the special energy in Xinglong's body, resembling magma, began to flow more intensely. Under the influence of this energy, the surrounding Star Feather Butterflies began to gather around Xinglong, preparing to block Wenlong's path!
