Seeing Chen Feng faint and his body curl up in a hunched shape, with a bloody mess below, Yang Chen stopped and glanced sideways at the young girl who was pale with fear. He again showed that harmless, warm smile, “Don’t be afraid, I’m not here to kill you.”
Yang Chen’s smile almost made the young girl, who was about to faint from fear, lose control of her bladder.
“P-please spare me…” She couldn’t say anything else.
“Don’t be afraid, I already said I won’t kill you.” Yang Chen frowned in frustration and asked, “Since you’re involved with Chen Feng, do you know where Chen Dehai is now?”
Seeing that Yang Chen really wasn’t going to kill her, the young girl calmed down a bit and answered in a low voice, “I... I’m not sure, but usually Boss Chen will be in the study on the top floor.”
“Hmm... It seems those fools didn’t lie to me.” Yang Chen muttered to himself and walked towards the door.
Seeing this, the young girl, despite her fear, asked in surprise, “You’re not going to run?”
“Run? Why?” Yang Chen turned back.
“The screams just now will definitely attract the thugs, and they’ll be rushing up soon!” The young girl was actually somewhat worried for Yang Chen, even though she was still tied up with stockings.
Yang Chen smiled indifferently, “I hope Chen Dehai comes personally.” After saying that, he walked out and closed the door behind him.
According to his memory, Chen Dehai’s study was located in the center of the top floor of the entire apartment building, which was the central area of the fourth floor. After entering the corridor, Yang Chen walked directly towards the stairs.
Sure enough, after taking a few steps, a crowd of people surged up and down the stairs ahead. They were all dressed in the same black uniform as the thugs at the entrance, but they had already equipped themselves with weapons, including stun guns and steel-studded gloves.
Yang Chen naturally didn’t naively think that Chen Dehai’s subordinates wouldn’t have guns, but this was in the country, and the Chinese government’s gun control was notoriously strict. It was impossible for every subordinate to be armed with a gun, so only a few elite members would have guns.
Yang Chen didn’t mind throwing all these lackeys down the stairs. After all, it had been a long time since he had a good fight, and having two or thirty people charge at him at once was a good way to practice. Yang Chen was quite pleased.
When the group of thugs, filled with rage, tried to beat the young man who was strolling leisurely, they soon realized they couldn’t even catch him!
Yang Chen’s movements were as fast as lightning, and each move was like a special effect in a movie—afterimages.
In what seemed like simple movements, Yang Chen’s body skillfully weaved through the attacks of over a dozen people. Each brief pause was followed by his hand grabbing the wrist of a thug holding a weapon, then using the thug’s hand to beat the nearest comrade. The lucky ones got hit on their arms or legs, while the unlucky ones received a direct blow to the head!
There was no pattern, no routine, just pure speed and precise calculation, with no unnecessary movements—simple and effective!
The corridor entrance, a space of about thirty square meters, was thoroughly chaotic. Everyone could only see a black figure moving back and forth in front of them, and they didn’t dare to easily use their stun guns, as they might accidentally injure their own people.
One after another, cries of pain echoed through the corridor. In less than a minute, the thirty or so thugs who had charged in were reduced to four or five, who were cowering in fear, while the rest lay on the ground in pain, unable to get up.
Yang Chen clapped his hands and looked at the remaining five thugs who dared not approach, with a smile that was half-mocking, “Aren’t you coming to play?”
The five quickly shook their heads and forced out smiles that were uglier than crying.
After reaching the fourth floor without any further obstacles, Yang Chen easily found the large door of the study in the center. The door was a specially made steel anti-theft door, and if everything went as expected, it was also bulletproof.
Yang Chen glanced at the surveillance cameras in the corridor and smiled somewhat bored. Chen Dehai was indeed a cunning fox. He knew Yang Chen had entered the building but didn’t rush to eliminate him. Instead, he sent over thirty subordinates to test and wear him down. Now, hiding in this iron-clad room, he must have set up a tight net inside.
Actually, if it weren’t for Yang Chen, this strategy would have been quite effective. But Chen Dehai clearly didn’t know Yang Chen’s true strength. Otherwise, the wiser choice would have been to run away early.
The steel door in front of him seemed indestructible, but Yang Chen didn’t take it too seriously. If it were the old him from two years ago, it might have taken more effort to force it open, but now, with the changes in his strange cultivation, such defenses were no longer much of a problem.
Taking a deep breath, Yang Chen kicked the thick steel door with a force like a thunderbolt!
“Bang!”
After a heavy thud in the corridor, the steel door was kicked inward, and the seams where it connected to the wall cracked, causing the marble walls to shatter and debris to fall to the ground!
Yang Chen retracted his foot in satisfaction, stepped forward, and gave a light push...
“Bang!!!”
A cloud of dust rose as the steel door fell into the room, having been forcibly opened!
In the brightly lit study, there were indeed several people standing.
“Young man, you have impressive skills.” A calm, slightly hoarse voice came from the man sitting behind a large oak desk in the study.
Yang Chen only needed one glance to recognize Chen Dehai. Apart from his slightly gray hair, his facial features were very similar to his son, Chen Feng, and he wasn’t particularly tall, but he had a more weathered and sinister look.
Behind Chen Dehai stood a row of over ten bodyguards in suits, each with a serious expression, their hands already reaching inside their coats, ready to draw their guns at any moment.
What surprised Yang Chen was that the man standing closest to Chen Dehai was the muscular bald man he had encountered in the bar. He was now one of Chen Dehai’s most trusted subordinates, closely guarding his safety.
The bald man looked at Yang Chen with a hint of surprise but didn’t show much of it.
“Sorry for breaking your door.” Yang Chen smiled and walked leisurely into the study.
Chen Dehai smiled insincerely, “No problem, old things must go to make way for new ones. It’s fine if the door is broken, as long as someone pays for it.”
“What if I don’t pay?”
“Then I would like to ask why you came to my apartment and did these things, and then I’ll make a decision.” Chen Dehai’s bony hand tapped the desk as he said calmly, “I, Chen Dehai, have been in the business for two or three decades and am not an unreasonable person. Young man, you have extraordinary skills, and if possible, I hope we can be friends rather than enemies.”
Yang Chen nodded nonchalantly and looked around. In Chen Dehai’s study, large bookshelves filled the walls, containing various books and publications from both inside and outside the country. On a small desk, there were the Four Treasures of the Study, used for calligraphy.
“It seems you’ve read a lot and have a good education.” Yang Chen replied, seemingly off-topic.
Chen Dehai frowned, “Even in the underworld, these days it’s not just about brute force.” He seemed to not understand what Yang Chen meant.
Yang Chen nodded in agreement, “What I mean is, if your son, Chen Feng, had half your intelligence, you wouldn’t have to die today.” Yang Chen smiled brightly.
