Open your mouth.
Wenren Ye stared at the tip of his tongue looking at the red bite mark. He stared at it numbly for a while, he didn’t say a word, but instead lowered his head and kissed him again.
Not leaving any margin to escape.
The little devil was not any gentler. He sucked on Jiang Zheliu’s bitten soft tongue, teasing that slightly painful spot, he watched as Jiang Zheliu frowned very lightly, and then he heard a subtle gasp come from the other as he kissed him.
He recovered a glimmer of reality from his daze, which made him relax his aggressiveness and he released Jiang Zheliu’s lips.
The corner of Jiang Zheliu’s lip had also been bitten by him, and had reddened to a great extent.
“Why are you…….” Jiang Zheliu closed his eyes and then opened them, his breath still not regulated, he helplessly looked at him “Why are you being so aggressive.”
“Sorry.” Apologise first if in doubt, “you kissed me first.”
Jiang Zheliu didn’t speak for a moment, he couldn’t fault his answer.

He glanced over at that bowl of sugar water and whispered: “Are you feeding me that because you think I’m not sweet enough?”
Only then did Wenren Ye realise that that was the sweet taste in his mouth. When Jiang Zheliu lifted his head to kiss him, he only saw that person in front of him and he had completely forgotten about the ‘medicine’. He glanced over at the bowl of medicine and then after a while he said: “They’ve been lying to me?”
Jiang Zheliu sighed, then he used a calm voice, trying to keep it as soft and understanding as possible: “When I was asleep, there was no way of healing me, nor was I ill…..”
“You were.”
Jiang Zheliu was interrupted by him.
He watched as Wenren Ye turned back around and his haunting eyes stared straight at him, there was an unyielding paranoia in his eyes.
“You’re still not better yet.”
Jiang Zheliu was speechless, at this moment he didn’t know whether he should agree that he was sick or to disagree.
It was too difficult to decide, he never thought that one day. He would be in such a state of confusion.
“Perhaps he thought that your case was hopeless.” Wenren Ye looked deeply at him, when he said this, he seemed to be in a very ordinary state of mind, but everything that he was saying was becoming more and more terrifying, “Perhaps, he wanted to give up on you?”
“No, that’s not it.” Jiang Zheliu interrupted him and then quickly changed the subject, “it’s because my condition has improved so he added some sugar to the prescription.”
He reached out and pulled the devil’s face towards him, and came face to face to that pair of bottomless eyes, spelling out each word: “It’s not that Xiao Yu has given up on me, this is for my own good, don’t be so negative.”
Wenren Ye continued to look into his eyes, staying silent for a long while and then he finally nodded very lightly.
Jiang Zheliu was still worried, his heart suddenly began to beat faster, he subconsciously instructed: “Don’t kill them.”
The glimmer in Wenren Ye’s eyes suddenly disappeared, he did not react or respond to what he had just said.
……. Why had he become like this?
Jiang Zheliu’s heart was aching, he reached out to grab the other’s wrist. His hand was icy cold against the other’s warm skin.
“I’m really getting better, look, we’ve even been chatting for a while today.”
His comforting words were to no avail.
Wenren Ye was like a bird startled by the twang of a bow1. Each time, when he thought that things were okay, everytime he thought that things were getting better, the world would callously throw him a curveball, making him see the true ugliness of reality.
Those who have departed do not know how those who have been left behind suffer.
Within the torment and suffering, a thread of joy sprouted —— the little willow was merely sleeping, he still had the opportunity to wait for him to wake up.
He was like a bowstring that had been pulled taut – strong and invincible, but also on the brink of snapping.
Wenren Ye slowly opened his hand and in reverse he then grasped Jiang Zheliu’s hand. On the palm of his hand, there were many calluses that had been made from the friction created by holding his devilish knife, which were slightly rough to touch, rubbing against Jiang Zheliu’s hand.
“I had a dream previously.” he said.
Jiang Zheliu was watching his face intently, but did not find any sense of killing intent, so didn’t stop him from continuing to speak.

“I dreamt that I turned into a cat, I didn’t have any cultivation and just wandered the world.” Wenren Ye looked away towards the window which had a very soft light filtering in, “I met you, I was filthy from head to toe, but you were still Ling Xiao Sect’s Xianzun and took me in without question.”
“You fed me and gave me a roof over my head, and cultivated in front of me, we spent every moment together, never leaving each other. But there was one day, you suddenly told me you had to leave and then you departed without saying a word.”
“I waited for you at home for a really long time but you never came back. I didn’t know why you left me, was it because I am too useless?”
Even though, when he was telling this story he didn’t sound like he was particularly upset but Jiang Zheliu still felt very sad listening to it, he lightly breathed out and wanted to say to him “it’s not like that” and to tell him “you are really amazing” but he didn’t say a word.
“I wait for you every day, I can eat less, I don’t have to sleep with you on the bed, I can stop disturbing you when you are reading….. I didn’t know what made you hate me, but I can change…..”
“But you still didn’t come back. You abandoned me.”
The little devil lowered his head and stared at the little willow tree’s slender fingers for a while.
“Zheliu.” He stared at his fingertips, “was this dream really childish? I can’t believe that someone of my cultivation level could still be disturbed by a nightmare, in reality, it’s……”
So lame.
Wenren Ye laughed at himself, and then he pulled him over to embrace him and then whispered: “Why would you abandon me, you would never, you told me you’d always stay with me……”
Jiang Zheliu had no idea how to comfort him so he could only return his embrace, and coax him lightly in his ear, but he’d only said a few things when he felt that the other’s state of mind was becoming more and more erratic.
The devilish marks on the little devil’s body were gradually appearing all over his body.
It was not only this, the bone spurs on his body were also gradually growing, and, on his back, his bone wings were slowly coming out, spreading out like a net that could cover the sky, the edges of his wings hardened like sharp metal.
Wenren Ye had buried his head against his shoulder, his hard devilish horns were scalding hot, and the blood-coloured devilish scripts upon them were burning brightly. And then his bone wings opened and he surrounded Jiang Zheliu inside. And on the surface of those bone wings were cracks which were bursting open, dripping with blood from the edge of the cracks, emitting a fresh bloody smell that was laced with devilish energy.
Jiang Zheliu was slightly taken aback: “…….. Wenren Ye?”
When he called out the other’s full name, it was when he had something to ask him, which was the case at this moment.
The bloody aura coming from Wenren Ye was unconcealable, and was accompanied with the familiar scent of pine and cypress that was dispersing everywhere. The bone wings were wrapped around him like a cage, and the unending sound of cracking and breaking could be heard.
Jiang Zheliu was extremely close to him and could feel the slight suffering that the other was feeling even in his breathing.
The side effect of having contained the dao seed of slaughter within his body, and the murderous energy spawned that from it was plaguing his mind and destroying his self-control.
Destroying the hallucinations.
It could also be said that those were not hallucinations. For Wenren Ye, they were reality. The breathing and the heartbeat that other people could not hear, those whispered conversations in the middle of the night, were all essential to him.
His little willow tree had not wilted. He could only continue believing this to keep on living.
At this time, it was hard to tell which one of them was more seriously ill.
Jiang Zheliu had no idea what was happening before him, even if he was incredibly well-read, he had no idea how to resolve the issue of the Dao seed and he was unable to rebalance his emotions surrounding this issue.
This matter was even more serious than having to bear a body covered in blood debt. One was a Heavenly Tribulation that was bound to happen in the future, and this matter was like a double-edged sword.
“Little devil?” When Jiang Zheliu spoke out aloud, he realised that his voice was trembling slightly, he was grasping tightly on Wenren Ye’s lapel, whilst maintaining a cool-head. “Don’t think like this, I will stay with you, I really will always be with you. I will never abandon you, don’t think like this, look at me……”
He felt a warmth on his shoulder.
The thick blood that was still laced in the devilish energy was soaking into his clothing.
Jiang Zheliu took a deep breath in and then pushed the other off his shoulder wanting to look at him face to face. But Wenren Ye did not move a muscle as if he didn’t want to face him.
After a short while, the cracks that were oozing blood from the bone wings stopped dilating, and the blood stopped seeping out. This blood was not from inside his bone wings but actually transported from his body. There were channels from every part of his devilish body to transport blood, and these passages were incredibly resistant.
The bone wings in his back slowly retracted.
He waited until they had completely retracted back into his body, before he finally looked up, and wiped the fresh blood away from the corner of his lips.
Jiang Zheliu stared into his eyes, and saw that his right eye still had a flame ignited inside it, like a rogue purple flame that was flickering about, but it slowly went out and returned to its normal state.
In reality, his devilish body was actually his normal form, so that’s why it had been forced out by the Dao seed. The devilish form was his strongest state, his human form was second.
Wenren Ye didn’t speak but just looked at him for a while. He watched him obediently for a long time and then finally began to get up, he said: “……. You should get some rest.”
Jiang Zheliu didn’t want to let him leave, he reached out to grab his sleeve and wouldn’t let go.
The two of them were deadlocked for a moment, the little devil was extremely insistent on his “rest”.
Jiang Zheliu was helpless, and admitted defeat and could only say: “Well, will you sleep with me.”
This was enough to settle the situation. Wenren Ye did not object and took the icy cold little willow tree into his embrace, staying close to him to watch over him.
In fact, he really wanted to go to sleep with Jiang Zheliu, but he felt that the way he was at the moment was not very suitable for being by his side so his first reaction was to get away from him.
Wenren Ye looped his arm around the other’s shoulder, he seemed to be deep in thought, after a while, Jiang Zheliu finally heard him speak.
“Your medicine.” He paused for a moment, “tomorrow, I’ll bring all the recent prescriptions over.”
Jiang Zheliu felt a little nervous, he was afraid that when the other’s brain seemed normal it wasn’t, and when it wasn’t it seemed like it was, having dragged the others over to come and treat a dead person.
He thought about it and then said: “Why don’t you let me take a look.”
Wenren Ye glanced over at him and didn’t say a word.
“I know more about medicine than you.” Jiang Zheliu’s reasoning was infallible, “don’t worry, I’ll cherish myself and cherish you.”
The little devil stared blankly when he heard this, and repeated what he had said, he quietly whispered: “cherish me?”
“En.”
Jiang Zheliu reached out, stroking his back like he was caressing a cat, stroking from his neck down to the small of his back, brushing away all of his uneasiness and worries. He massaged the base of his devilish horns and then lightly whispered: “I love you so much.”
Wenren Ye looked into his eyes, finding the tenderness in those dark, opaque eyes. He temporarily relaxed, and his mood eased up slightly.
Jiang Zheliu moved in closer to kiss him and then whispered: “But you can’t bite me anymore.”
He heard what he had said, but at times, in his current state, he was really unable to control himself.
Wenren Ye did not utter a word because he was unable to agree. When he had previously lost control just before, it was a prime example, he had only wanted to return his kiss but his aggressive nature had made him bite into Jiang Zheliu’s tongue and lip, letting him taste the other’s sweet fresh blood.
The Heavenly Spirit Body’s scent was also awfully seductive, like a poison that seemed to bore into his brain. If this person wasn’t still very weak, and his state of mind degraded further, he wasn’t sure what would have happened next.
The little devil was unable to promise him that and was a little upset about it, so he stared at him deeply.
。 Wenren Ye spoke even less than Jiang Zheliu did previously.
Jiang Zheliu sighed, and could only relax his request: “Well, be more gentle then, it still hurts now.”
He wouldn’t ever complain about the pain before, but he’d been completely spoiled by the person in front of him and his temperament had changed a lot, he could no longer bear the suffering and couldn’t even bear the pain from a simple kiss. But this kind of attitude was only in front of the little devil, appearing to be so coquettish.
Wenren Ye finally spoke, his gaze did not move an inch, he stared at his lips and whispered: “Open your mouth, I’ll blow on it.”
Jiang Zheliu didn’t want to and didn’t answer him and instead just stayed in his embrace not moving, and then said with much generosity on the surface: “I’ll take this up with you next time, I’m tired now.”
When Wenren Ye heard him say that he was ‘tired’, he finally relaxed a little, as if he had finally returned to a familiar environment and rhythm and he was able to fully relax and stay by his side.

When there is someone who is sleeping well, there is someone else having a sleepless night elsewhere.
Yu Jinnian had been rambling all night to the little mute, and was still worrying about the recent sugar water prescription whilst he was changing into a new set of clothes the next day. He had actually really prescribed a lot of varied medicines but not also very effective prescriptions, but recently he had been stuck, and it was a challenge for his head which was not so safely planted upon his neck.
Although Wenren Ye used to be ruthless, he was still reasonable, but now this person had lost all sense of reason. In the mortal realm, someone who killed someone because they were mentally ill was not breaking the law, but in the Devil Realm, challenging someone to a duel and then killing them was also not a crime.
Yu Jinnian put on a depressed face in front of Wang Moxuan, he watched as the little mute came closer to fix his collar, he used his most ominous voice to say: “If I can’t return today, you must raise our kids……”
Wang Moxuan’s hands stopped and he looked up at him and said with difficulty: “What kids?”
He had been dumb for far too long, even though the locking sound curse had been broken, he was not too used to speaking, he preferred to stay silent like a little mute.
“I mean the little kid, He Tan.” Yu Jinnian said seriously: “We have spent eighty years together exchanging notes on medicine and corpse preservation. In reality, he has already become my heir, and could be considered my eldest son.”
Unexpectedly plucking out a son from nowhere, that’s so you.
Wang Moxuan ignored him and finished up fixing his collar and then withdrew his hand, and left the Divine Sage of Medicine to answer to the perilous situation that had been created by himself when prescribing sugar water.
But Yu Jinnian would never have believed that, instead of meeting the murderous wrath of Wenren Ye he was sat opposite Jiang Zheliu who was sitting on the bed reading an erotic book and drinking afternoon tea.
Jiang Zheliu had recovered quite well, and his body would very quickly be entirely healed, but even though, the meridians in his body had been reconnected, they were not as sturdy as before, if he wanted to gain his cultivation back, he’d need to practice slowly and build it up again.
But his prospects were indeed much better than before, if previously he could be described as a delicate broken vase that had been glued back together, then now he could be considered a vase that had re-entered the kiln and come out again. Perhaps, it was not as perfect as the original on the outside but there were no longer any cracks that would leak.
Yu Jinnian touched the wrist of the person who had come back from the dead and explored his meridians, confirming that what had returned to his body were indeed his original souls that had been collected and fused together, he tsked and then sighed: “The resurrection device of the Netherworld is indeed miraculous, it should be used more often.”
He paused for a moment and then thought of something and said: “But it seems like you are the first to have been able to succeed, it seems that in order to use the resurrection device, one must have luck and timing to be able to come back out of it.”
In addition to that, others who had used this spiritual device did not have relatives or lovers who were able to watch over the Tan Lamp for 70 or 80 years to provide the conditions for the resurrection.
Jiang Zheliu put down the book in his hand and nodded: “When I recover a bit more, I will go and visit the puppet master and thank him personally for everything he has done.”
“Yes, you should thank him.” Yu Jinnian said helplessly, “Otherwise, you really would have died, and this marvellous world would have been terrible. Wenren Ye would have lost all self-control, and would have gone on a murder spree, making eighty-one2 strikes of thunder rain down from the heavens.

Jiang Zheliu felt guilty and didn’t dare to say another word.
He had not experienced such strong emotions in his life and could not have anticipated such serious consequences. Previously, he had just thought that —— the little devil would forget about him as soon as possible, find a new love and start over.
But when Jiang Zheliu woke up, he realised that his expectations were ridiculous. With the customs of the Devil Realm, as well as the little devil being innately loyal and persistent, he would never let go, how would this peaceful and uneventful outcome that he had imagined ever occur?
Before he met Wenren Ye, he questioned whether he was able to love. He was indifferent to anything, even after years of guardianship, even if he spent half his life for others, what he knew and felt was just duty and obligation, at most, a little bit of appreciation and affection for his juniors.
This situation was completely outside his control.
“You made me come here to get a confession right?” Yu Jinnian was astute, he put a stack of prescriptions in front of Jiang Zheliu, “I’ll prescribe you a little medicine to warm up your body, and when you recover a bit more, you’ll be able to cultivate again using your previous method.”
Jiang Zheliu nodded slightly, thanked him, then pondered, “And Wenren Ye ……”
“I can’t cure that.” Yu Jinnian had a headache just thinking about it, he didn’t even bother to be respectful and address him as ‘qianbei’, “whoever hung the bell on the tiger’s neck must untie it3, I think you’re the only one who can come up with a solution.”
