Chapter 10

"Ah, right, Laila-san."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Is there a wide open space somewhere, like in the garden? I want to let Leo play later."

"Yes, there is a wide space at the back of the mansion. Leo-sama can play there to his heart's content. I'll show you later."

"Thank you. That's great, Leo. It seems there's a place where you can play."

"Woof! Woof woof!"

Leo wagged his tail happily.

Ah, Leo, could you please wag your tail a bit more slowly?

Because of your big tail, it looks like Gerda-san's skirt might flip up, which would be embarrassing.

I made sure to look away so I wouldn't see.

At that moment, the door to the parlor was knocked on, just like when Laila-san brought the tea.

When Laila-san went to the door and opened it, Claire-san and Sebastian-san came in.

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, Takumi-san."

"Claire-san. I'm enjoying the delicious tea, so it's fine."

"I'm glad to hear that."

Claire-san answered cheerfully and sat across from me.

Sebastian-san immediately prepared the cups, and Laila-san poured the tea.

"Claire-san, how is your sister doing?"

"Yes. As Sebastian said earlier, she hasn't changed since I went to the forest. However, since we are preparing the herb you found, Lamogi, for the medicine, I believe she will get better soon."

"That's good to hear. I hope she gets better soon."

"Yes. All of this is thanks to you, Takumi-san."

"No, I didn't do much. Besides, you've thanked me so many times already, so don't worry about it."

"…I see. Understood. I'll stop thanking you."

"Yes, please do."

Claire-san, and Sebastian-san as well, thanked me several times.

I don't think I did anything special, but being thanked repeatedly is a bit much.

"By the way, Takumi-san."

"Yes, what is it?"

"If it's not too much trouble, could you tell me about your background?"

"Background…?"

"Yes. I know you're not a bad person. You helped me and found Lamogi. However, you didn't know about familiars, the Silver Fenrir, or monsters."

"…That's true."

"Anyone who lives in this country should know about monsters and the Silver Fenrir. But since you don't know, I think you might not be from this country."

"Yes."

Well, I don't know a lot of things.

I guess it's not unreasonable to be suspicious.

If this is really another world, not knowing is to be expected.

"I'm sorry, Takumi-san. If you can't say, that's fine. The fact that you helped me is true. I welcome you."

"Is it okay if I don't say?"

"Yes. People have their reasons for not saying. Besides, my reason for wanting to know is out of curiosity. I don't want to force you to tell me."

"Curiosity, huh?"

"Yes. You said you were in the forest when you woke up. Normally, that wouldn't happen. But you're with the Silver Fenrir, which is supposed to be impossible to make a familiar, and you're actually getting along well. And one more thing… I've never seen your clothes before."

"Oh, these?"

I looked at my clothes again.

I had no time to change after work and just went to bed, so I'm wearing a white shirt and slacks.

I took off my suit jacket before eating my bento when I got home.

"I confirmed with Sebastian before you came, and he said he had never seen them before."

"Yes, we have never seen Takumi-sama's clothes before."

"I see."

Never having seen a white shirt or slacks… this isn't Japan, then.

Moreover, in a relatively wealthy country on Earth, it's hard to imagine that people have never seen these clothes.

In my head, the feeling of "I knew it" and "I can't believe it" are competing.

At this point, the "I knew it" feeling is definitely stronger.

"You wear clothes we've never seen and have the Silver Fenrir, which is supposed to be impossible to make a familiar. I'm curious and interested in what kind of person you are, Takumi-san."

"Ah."

Claire-san looked very charming when she smiled a little at the end.

If a charming person like her says they're interested, I think any man would be completely smitten.

Well, I don't think there's anything to hide, so I'll try to tell my story… I don't know if it will be believed….

Claire-san seems trustworthy, so I don't think she'll think badly of me if I tell her the situation.

I stopped ignoring the idea in my head that this is another world and decided to affirm it for the first time since I came here.

"Yes… but I don't know if you'll believe my story…"

"Seeing the Silver Fenrir obediently following you, I can believe anything, no matter how unbelievable."

"I see. Then I'll tell you."

"Thank you, Takumi-san."

"First, as I told Claire-san, I was sleeping and woke up in that forest."

"Yes, you did say that. Moving to that forest while sleeping… what happened?"

"…Kidnapped…? …No, that wouldn't happen with Leo-sama around. …I apologize, please continue."

Sebastian-san seemed to think of kidnapping, but I don't think anyone would gain anything by kidnapping me.

I can't provide a ransom, and what would be the point of kidnapping a tired man?

Leo is a small Maltese dog, so if someone really wanted to kidnap me, they could easily overpower him.

Well, I don't think it was kidnapping.

But if asked why I was in the forest, I don't know the reason…
