The Sixteenth Sentence Part 2
It was the afternoon when they went outside. The sun was whiningwarmly all over them.
Where do we go?
Pu Tao had no idea.
She turned her head and asked Cheng Su, “Is there any place you want to go?”
Cheng Su’s lips curved. “You already asked on Wechat.”
I did? Pu Tao didn’t remember at all. She took out her phone and checked.
Pu Tao’s head hurt for a second. She really did ask during lunch. In the end, she was still clueless and didn’t know where to go.
“Let me think…” She bit her index finger’s knuckle. “Which hotel are you staying at?”
After a short silence, Cheng Su asked, “Do you want to go there?”
Pu Tao denied it three times, “Nonono! I just want to go somewhere close to your hotel. I live far away, while you have to go back and pack your bags and can’t miss the high-speed train.”
She was clarifying herself, but she was completely red as she spoke.
Cheng Su’s voice carried an amusement, “I’m staying in the Yiuteung Mansion 1 . It’s not too far from the East Railway Station.”
“Oh, that place, that’s pretty close.”
Why are you talking like that? You’re being so terrible! Pu Tao was criticizing herself in the back of her mind.
While she was silently criticizing herself, the man suddenly called out to her, “Pu Tao.”
She looked back.
His tone was gentle as he said, “I am also very nervous.”
Pu Tao froze and a light flashed through her eyes.
She felt that Cheng Su was calming her.
But she was not calming down. Her mind suffocated from this sentence. It felt more and more blocked up.
Her worry doubled just because he was nervous.
Pu Tao must find a gap to take a breath. “What are you nervous about?”
Cheng Su asked back, “What are you nervous about?”
“I don’t know.” Pu Tao hesitated for a few seconds. She could only answer with her first thought. “Maybe it’s because you are too handsome.”
Cheng Su smiled and looked like he understood. “So maybe I am nervous about this because you are too beautiful?”
!
!!!
Did he just say I am beautiful?
Pu Tao was going to be knocked down by the hidden happiness she felt surging. All the uneasiness was instantly soothed away by this sentence and this voice.
No wonder women loved to hear beautiful praises, even if they didn’t know whether it was true or not.
Her mind was no longer blocked. She livened up a little bit. She did her best to search for a place in her mind, and after a moment she suggested, “Why don’t we go to Temple Water Street 2 ? It’s close to your hotel.”
Cheng Su nodded and took out his cell phone to call a taxi.
Pu Tao tried to stop him, “I’ll get it.”
Cheng Su had already placed the request. He took a look at her and said, “Buy me a drink later.”
Pu Tao nodded. “Okay.”
The taxi came quickly.
Cheng Su opened the car door. He let Pu Tao go in first, and then he went in.
The man was so tall that the back seats suddenly looked crowded.
Pu Tao unintentionally stared at his knees touching the back of the navigator seat. She wondered whether she should ask the driver to move the seat forward a little.
As she thought this, she felt Cheng Su’s eyes on her.
She had looked for too long. Pu Tao reacted and suddenly snapped out of it. Then, she accidentally looked into his eyes.
She swiftly asked a question, “Do you feel crammed?”
“It doesn’t matter.” He moved slightly and sat a little in the middle.
He is…
Getting closer to me.
Pu Tao put her hand to her lips, and her eyes widened slightly. She was afraid that he would discover the silly smile wrinkles around her eyes.
It might have been a little awkard along the way. They didn’t talk a lot.
Pu Tao did not have the courage to turn around and look at Cheng Su at all. It took a lot of effort to look straight ahead. She took a deep breath, leaned closer to the car window and stared at the street view along the way.
They finally reached their destination.
People and cars were everwhere on Temple Water Street. Like its name, a temple was near the water. The ancient building and modern atmosphere blended. It was beautiful and quiet.
Pu Tao got out of the car first. She stood by the side of the road and turned around to wait for Cheng Su to come over.
She stood properly with her hands down and secretly stretched her arms, which became tight on the car ride there, all the way down.
“Let’s go,” she said, pretending to be relaxed and that they were getting along just fine. “Let’s go buy a drink first.”
Once she said that, she began to walk.
Cheng Su stopped her, “Wait a minute.”
Pu Tao halted.
Cheng Su put his hand out.
Pu Tao froze. She tried so hard to slow down her heart beats, but it was accelerating again.
What is he doing? Her voice jolted slightly, “Do you want me to hold it?”
Cheng Su laughed. “Why else?”
He added, “I didn’t bring my glasses so I can’t see well and I’m a stranger here.”
It’s all nonesense.
But why am I so happy?
Pu Tao bit her lower lip to hold in the smile. She had fallen for it and solemnly announced, “Oh, I’ll do what you say. I’ll hold your hand.”
She muttered, “Anyway, it’s not the first time.”
Cheng Su heard this and asked, “When was the first time, an hour ago?”
“Huh? How do you know that?” She pretended to be naive and took Cheng Su’s hand with a heart that was doing a series of high jumps on the trampoline.
She found out that she could only hold four of his fingers.
His thumb, which was free, gently pressed on the back of her hand.
Oh my god. Pu Tao’s ears turned red because of this subtle response from him. Their skin touched and the electric shock made her tremble.
"
"
Cheng Su looked down at her, and his eyes flashed with a smile. He instantly became assertive as he took over her hand. “Hold my hand well, don’t lose me.”
