The Twenty-Sixth Sentence Part 2

Back at the apartment, Pu Tao was stunned by the strange smell that hit her nose the moment she opened the door. It was as if she accidentally ran into the slop bucket.

The rotten smell was pervasive. Pu Tao put down her suitcase and did not change her shoes. She went straight to the kitchen to find the source of the disaster. As expected, the garbage can was overflowing with takeout boxes and the area around it was covered, too.

She imagined a scene of some zombies polluting and corrupting this communal area after not being here for a few days.

She thought that coming back from Cheng Su was a step back into reality from a dream, but she did not expect to step into a nightmare.

Ignited by anger, Pu Tao had a complete meltdown. She ran to her roommate’s door and knocked on the door violently.

This time, the door opened quickly.

However, it was not her roommate who appeared. It was a stranger.

He was extremely big and fat. He was only wearing a white tank, with imposing tattoos from his shoulders to the back of his hands.

Pu Tao was a little out of breath, but then immediately stopped breathing. She was expecting a fight with her roommate, but that thought was stifled.

The man had no distinct outline. He moved his flabby chin. “What do you want with all that knocking?”

Pu Tao’s chest moved up and down. “Where is the girl who lives in this room?”

The man said, “Sleeping in bed. You looking for her?”

Pu Tao asked, “Are you her boyfriend?”

“Yeah.”

“Are all the takeout boxes in the kitchen yours?”

“Duh.” He did not look embarrassed.

Pu Tao made a stone face and her lips were thin. “Can you clean it up?”

“Why do you care? You the landlord?” The man suddenly raised his hand and threatened.

Pu Tao shrank, and her eyes flashed with fear.

The fat man laughed. He turned his head and asked into the room, “Is that her? The one picking on you all the time?”

“Yeah.” Once a woman had someone shielding her, her voice was louder than usual.

Pu Tao had a lump in her throat. She grinded her teeth and stated, “Do you think it’s just you in this house? You might as well rent the whole place and do whatever you want.”

“You stupid? You talking to me like that?” The man’s expression became ferocious. “If you can’t stand it, then move out. If you can’t afford to, then deal with it.”

“…”

Pu Tao considered their differences and her safety. She did not want any more conflicts, so she turned around and went back to her room.

“Dumb b****.” The man spat after her. “Take your luggage, Miss Stickler came back.”

The roommate bursted out into laughter.

Pu Tao’s voice was stuck from the stench and insults. She went back to her room and closed the door with a bang.

When it quieted down, she realized that her cell phone in her pocket was vibrating.

Pu Tao pulled it out and saw Cheng Su’s name.

His call was like a nice summer wind blowing around. She suddenly burst into tears.

Pu Tao answered the call, but she didn’t speak.

Cheng Su didn’t speak either.

He probably heard her trying not to cry, so he asked, “Crying again? Cry baby.”

Wth the gentle way he addressed her, Pu Tao could no longer stop the tears. Her nose twitched.

Cheng Su was defeated by her cute, childish crying and said to calm her down, “It’s my fault just now. I was impatient. I shouldn’t have said that and made you stressed.”

Pu Tao rubbed her dripping nose and just wanted to rely on him. “It’s not your fault. Someone bullied me.”

Cheng Su’s voice was a little more serious. “Who?”

“My roommate and her boyfriend. They made a mess in the house, and said a lot of nasty words to me.” The negative emotions rushed into Pu Tao’s thoughts. She put her hands to her face. She was rarely so disheartened. The bright aura from Cheng Su extinguished into resentment. She realized that she did not become a carefree young lady. Instead, she was a corporate slave who couldn’t do what she wanted to do.

“I don’t want to stay in this hellhole any longer, but I already paid the rent. There’s nowhere else I can go. You want me to stay with you, but I also want my boyfriend to be there for me here. I miss you so much.”

Cheng Su asked, “Where do you live?”

Pu Tao did not reply.

Cheng Su requested, “Send me the address.”

“You can’t come, just let me vent,” Pu Tao said. “If you come, I will only be more stressed and feel useless.”

“I’m not going, I just want your address,” Cheng Su said softly. “Send it to me on Wechat?”

Pu Tao swiped to Wechat. She sent her location, and told him the specific building number.

In less than half an hour, she heard the doorbell ring.

It definitely can’t be him, Pu Tao thought. She wanted to go out to open the door, but heard some noise outside. Someone from the other room had already come out.

She pressed her hand against the door and listened carefully.

The fat man opened the door.

A man asked him, “Is there a girl named Pu Tao living here?”

Pu Tao opened the door right away.

At the doorstep stood a man with a buzzcut. He looked to be about the same age as Cheng Su.

He looked past the fat man and saw her. He came to her and confirmed her identity. “You’re Pu Tao, right?”

Pu Tao nodded her head.

He introduced himself and explained his purpose for coming here. “My name is Wu Jing, I’m a friend of Cheng Su. Let’s pack your things so you can move out immediately.”

His name sounded familiar, but this did not slow down Pu Tao’s surprise. “Right now?”

Wu Jing nodded and a smile flashed on his face. “Yup, Cheng Su is already driving over. He said that if I don’t help you move in before he arrives, he will hold me responsible.”

The author has something to say:

Are these two really in a long-distance relationship? I’m speechless.
