Chapter 17

Since eating the meat of the special pig, Lin Fei continued to eat it for several more days until he finished the entire pig leg. Of course, during this time, he also cut some pieces to send to Zhou Yue and Wang Xiaoru.

After eating the meat Lin Fei sent, Zhou Yue called the next day to ask where he bought it. Lin Fei evaded the question, saying, "I bought it online. I saw someone selling it by chance and bought some to try."

"Is it still for sale now?"

"No, it should be sold out."

"What a pity. If you find it for sale again, buy an extra portion for me. This meat contains spiritual energy, and it makes the body feel very comfortable after eating it."

"Okay, noted."

After the call ended, Lin Fei searched online and indeed found someone selling this kind of meat.

"Shocking! While hunting in the mountains, I discovered a fire-breathing mountain chicken and killed it with a surprise attack. Now I'm selling it at a low price. Only 20,000 yuan per pound. I've already eaten one pound, and it tastes delicious. Those interested, leave your contact information."

Immediately, someone left a comment below.

1st floor: "So expensive? I've encountered these several times in the mountains back home. I even reported it to the Ability Management Bureau last time. Now, the bureau's investigators have entered the mountains to investigate. They call these ability-endowed animals 'abnormal beasts' and warn us villagers to run away immediately if we encounter them, or we might be in mortal danger. If I had known the price was so high, I would have caught a few and become rich overnight."

2nd floor: "The person above is really bold. Didn't you see that the poster only managed to kill one with a surprise attack? Plus, the investigators said these things are dangerous. Are you sure you can defeat an abnormal beast?"

3rd floor: "2nd floor is right. These abnormal beasts have abilities, so don't have any foolish thoughts. You might lose your life if you're not careful."

4th floor: "Support 3rd floor."

5th floor: "Agree with 4th floor."

...

"These beasts with spiritual or abnormal abilities are called 'abnormal beasts.' That's a concise and clear name," Lin Fei said, stroking his chin.

"I didn't expect the meat of abnormal beasts to be so expensive! 20,000 yuan per pound. The pig leg I got weighed over 100 pounds, so I've eaten several million yuan worth of meat in these few days. That's the price of a house!"

Lin Fei was a bit shocked after calculating and then thought, "Since the meat of abnormal beasts is so expensive, I can consider becoming a hunter in the future. I can hunt some every day and sell them to get rich easily.

But I hope they won't be listed as protected animals. If they are, my plan to get rich will be ruined."

Lin Fei browsed more information on this topic. There weren't many people selling abnormal beast meat, and the main types were wild chickens and rabbits. Some people also commented that they were attacked by these abnormal beasts in the mountains and suffered serious injuries.

Lin Fei thought, "People die for wealth, and birds die for food. These people really prove this saying!"

Unknowingly, it was already September 25th. This morning, the central government announced a significant event that would have a huge impact on future generations.

The government announced that the Cultivator Academy would be officially established today. The first batch of academies would be set up in cities with a population of over 10 million.

Each academy would admit 3,000 students, aged 23 or younger, with spiritual energy reaching the first stage. Applications would close on the 27th, and interviews would be held on September 28th. The best candidates would be selected, and after graduation, the government would assign jobs. Outstanding graduates could even join the Ability Management Bureau.

This announcement by the government caused a huge stir in society. Countless people logged onto the official websites of the spiritual energy academies to check the information, and countless parents registered their children. Many eligible young people also applied.

Recent events clearly indicated that the world was changing. As long as you weren't a fool, you knew that you had to follow the government's lead.

The establishment of the Cultivator Academy provided a path for everyone to closely follow the government's lead. Graduates would be assigned jobs, a benefit that hadn't been seen for many years!

Most importantly, outstanding graduates could join the Ability Management Bureau! Who in this era didn't know about this department? Only the best of the country could join, and every year, people almost broke their heads trying to get in, but only a few were admitted each year.

It was well-known that once you joined the Ability Management Bureau, you wouldn't have to worry about the rest of your life. The bureau's benefits and treatment were unparalleled, making it the most secure job in the country.

"This is about cultivating reserve forces! It seems that the intensifying changes have overwhelmed various departments, and the manpower is no longer sufficient to cope with the upcoming changes," Lin Fei analyzed while looking at the explosive news.

Another announcement stated that many animals in the wild had awakened with spiritual and abnormal abilities, becoming highly dangerous abnormal beasts. These abnormal beasts have a strong territorial awareness. Without the corresponding strength, people should not venture into the wild. If you encounter them, leave immediately and notify the local Ability Management Bureau.

If someone hunts them, they can sell them to the Ability Management Bureau. The bureau has a department to purchase abnormal beast meat, and the corresponding prices can be found on the official website.

"It seems the government is encouraging capable people to hunt abnormal beasts for rewards!" Lin Fei said happily, "I can become a part-time wilderness hunter in the future."

Lin Fei now saw a mountain of gold waiting for him to mine.

"I won't do the fruit wholesale business anymore. That's nothing compared to hunting abnormal beasts, which is a legitimate and risk-free business," Lin Fei thought.

In just a month, the once lush forest of Wangyue Mountain had become even more vibrant.

In the current era of spiritual energy, the increasing amount of spiritual energy in the air has made the trees in the forest grow taller and thicker, and the weeds in the forest have grown to the height of an adult's waist.

In a certain area of the Wangyue Mountain forest, the dense trees blocked out the sky, and only a few rays of sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting a quiet and dark atmosphere in the forest.

"Ouch!"

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, big brother. I accidentally tripped on the weeds."

"Okay, Second Brother, Third Brother, be careful too."

"Yes, Big Brother," the two men said in unison.

"This time, we're here to get rich. Be more cautious and don't make too much noise."

The speaker was one of four men, all wearing green camouflage uniforms with metal plates sewn on and green steel helmets. They each held a 70-centimeter-long steel knife.

The leader was about 1.8 meters tall, with strong limbs, broad and round shoulders, and a high, muscular chest, sturdy like a steel pillar.

He held a steel knife and walked at the front of the group, occasionally slashing the surrounding shrubs to clear the way for the team.

"Big Brother, why didn't we bring hunting rifles into the forest? The government now sells hunting rifles to people with hunting licenses, and it's not illegal for us to carry them," the man who tripped asked.

"There's a reason we didn't bring them. Although hunters can legally own guns now, they are not very useful in the forest. The loud noise would attract the attention of other abnormal beasts. If many abnormal beasts are drawn in, we won't be able to escape," the leader continued.

"Guns can only threaten first-stage abnormal beasts. For higher stages, ordinary guns are hard to hit them, and even if they do, they won't cause much damage."
