Chapter 2: A Cute Maid at Home

"Ah..." Mu Fei yawned and sat up. The sunlight outside the window was very strong, and he squinted as he sat up, stretching a big yawn. "This sleep was really refreshing," Mu Fei muttered to himself, twisting his neck left and right. For some reason, he felt particularly good today, feeling a sense of comfort and vigor all over his body, as if he had endless energy. However, it seemed like he suddenly realized something and started fiddling with his ear.
"I remember I had some drinks at a roadside barbecue stand last night, but what happened after that? Why can't I remember? How did I get back home?" Mu Fei kept trying to recall, but after a while, he still couldn't remember how he got home last night.
"Drinking too much is really dangerous. I can't do this anymore," Mu Fei thought with a bitter smile, reaching for his glasses on the bedside table and putting them on. But when his gaze fell on the old electronic wall clock, he was stunned.
"Damn, it's almost nine o'clock?" He almost jumped up as if he had seen something extremely terrifying. "Oh no, there's an exam today. What the hell."
"Where are my clothes? Where did my pants go? Damn, where did I throw my socks last night?" Mu Fei frantically searched the bed, but after a while, he only found a pair of shorts. "Right, I think I threw my clothes in the toilet last night." He snapped his fingers and, wearing the shorts, moved toward the bathroom in a very strange posture, hopping along. As soon as he stepped out of the room, a crisp voice came from behind.
"Brother, good morning."
"Oh, good morning," Mu Fei replied without looking up, bouncing into the bathroom.
"Hmm, I clearly remember throwing my clothes here last night, but they're gone." Mu Fei was thinking when he suddenly realized something was off. His mother was doing business outside, and he was the only one living in this house. So who was that talking to him just now, and calling him "brother"?
Mu Fei slapped his face hard with both hands.
"Calm down, I must have heard wrong." He took a deep breath, poked his head out to look toward the kitchen, and saw a girl in a maid outfit from an anime busy there, apparently making breakfast. Judging by her back, she was about thirteen or fourteen years old, with a very slim figure. The maid's short skirt barely reached her knees, and she wore knee-high black stockings. When she lifted her foot, a hint of white could be seen under her skirt.
Mu Fei's nose felt hot, and he quickly retreated. He rubbed his heart as if he had been hit, washed his face with cold water, and pushed his glasses up.
"It must be an illusion, it must be."
Just as Mu Fei was about to peek out again to see what was going on, something even more shocking happened.
He stealthily poked his head out, and the little girl seemed to have a sixth sense, turning around to see Mu Fei standing there dumbfounded. She quickly put down the ladle and bowl in her hands, ran to his side, and hugged his arm, shaking it back and forth.
"Brother, you're up. Hurry up and get ready, breakfast is ready."
The sweet, sticky voice of the girl made Mu Fei dizzy. It was an instant kill, absolutely an instant kill. His whole body was in a state of paralysis, his mind blank, with only one voice echoing in his head.
"So cute, it's really too damn cute."
Seeing that Mu Fei wasn't responding, the girl tilted her head in confusion, occasionally stealing glances at him, her slender fingers tapping each other.
"Brother, did I do something wrong and make you angry?"
Mu Fei, who had grown up under the influence of various anime, had no resistance to such a cute girl. Add to that the alluring maid outfit and her innocent expression, and Mu Fei's mind echoed another voice, "The enemy has dealt 99999 damage to you. You have been instantly killed again."
Mu Fei wanted to act normally, but his eyes were glued to the little girl, unable to look away.
"Brother, say something. I'll be more careful in the future and won't make mistakes. Please don't be angry, okay?" The girl's eyes were filled with tears, as if she had been wronged, and her slender arms hugged Mu Fei's arm, rubbing it. Mu Fei could feel the smoothness of her arms and the warmth and softness of something else pressing against his arm.
Mu Fei's nose suddenly felt hot, and a fresh, slightly bloody liquid flowed down.
"You have been instantly killed again."
"Ah, brother, why are you bleeding? Does it hurt?" The girl panicked, hugging him tighter and continuing to shake him.
"If you keep shaking, I might die from blood loss," Mu Fei thought, taking a deep breath, pushing the girl away, and hiding in the bathroom like he was fleeing from a monster, locking the door twice.
Mu Fei used a tissue to stop the bleeding from his nose and scolded himself in the mirror, "Can't you be a bit more useful? A cute girl almost made you bleed to death. Can you be any less embarrassing?"
After scolding himself for a while, Mu Fei realized how strange the situation was. Where did this little girl come from? Could he have picked her up after drinking too much last night? No, that's impossible. She's not a stray cat or dog, and she's too cute to be picked up by just anyone.
Then... could it be that I did something bad last night and forced her to do something? But that's also impossible. She doesn't seem to have any resentment and even looks happy.
Mu Fei scratched his head, crossed his arms, and stared at his reflection in the mirror, but he couldn't figure out why such a cute girl would end up in his house.
When Mu Fei finally came out of the bathroom, the girl was still standing there, head down, tapping her fingers, like a wronged little wife.
This time, Mu Fei, on guard, managed to avoid being instantly killed. He took a deep breath, walked up to her, and slowly pushed her out the door, locking it behind him.
"Little girl, you've come to the wrong place. Go home quickly," Mu Fei said as he locked the door.
The little girl, hearing Mu Fei's words, panicked, tightly holding onto him, and said with tears in her eyes, "Brother, what are you doing? I'll be good, please don't send me away."
Mu Fei's heart softened at her words, but he couldn't let her stay. Although the little girl was cute and the type he liked, she was clearly underage. Even if she were an adult, he couldn't keep someone of unknown origin. What if her family came looking for her? He would be accused of kidnapping a minor and sent to the police.
Thinking of this, Mu Fei's soft heart hardened again, and he said with a bitter smile, "Girl, stop playing with me. Go back where you came from. I have an exam to take."
The girl refused to let Mu Fei go, holding onto his arm tightly. In the hallway, the elderly people passing by looked at Mu Fei strangely.
This was understandable. If you were walking down the street and a ridiculously cute girl in a maid outfit from an anime was following you, looking wronged and crying, saying things like "Don't abandon me, okay?" and "Brother, don't leave me," your回头率 (turning head rate) would definitely be high.
At the entrance of the neighborhood, Mu Fei, unable to bear it any longer, shook off the girl's hand and shouted angrily, "Are you done yet? Listen up, go back where you came from and don't bother me. Got it?"
Mu Fei felt like a scoundrel for being so harsh to such a cute girl. The people around him, whether they had business or not, stopped to point and comment.
"How can this guy be so rude to his girlfriend?"
"Son, women are to be cherished, not bullied, you know?"
"Shameful, that girl is so cute, how can he be so blind to choose such a heartless guy?"
Mu Fei felt cold sweat on his forehead. He hadn't done anything, yet he was being called a heartless guy. He didn't know that worse was yet to come.
A tough-looking girl pointed at her skinny boyfriend and said fiercely, "Honey, if you ever treat me like that heartless guy and leave me, I'll make you pay."
The guy, scared, said, "Honey, I won't do that... I wouldn't dare."
Mu Fei, hearing the various comments around him, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and quickly jumped on a bus, fleeing. He looked back and saw the little girl sitting on the ground, looking devastated, wiping her tears and looking up at him, muttering something that made her look pitiful.
Seeing her red, tearful eyes, Mu Fei felt a deep sense of guilt. Although he didn't know where the little girl came from, he could feel that her sadness and pain were genuine.
If it wasn't from the bottom of her heart, she wouldn't cry so sorrowfully, and it wouldn't resonate with him so deeply. It was a shared pain of the soul.
Just as Mu Fei was about to run back to her, the bus started moving, and the door closed. Their eyes met, but the distance between them grew.
Mu Fei sighed lightly, "Forget it, she'll get bored and go home eventually."
The whole journey, Mu Fei was in a daze, his mind filled with the image of the little girl crying. When he got off the bus, he realized he was already late. He ran to the classroom, and the first Chinese exam was almost over, with only fifteen minutes left.
