A cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind, but Han Fei did not let it distract him. His entire attention was focused on the TV screen.
The eerie animation had not yet finished. On the screen, the monster composed of human bodies still stood behind the sofa.
The little man had been dismembered, and bloodstains were everywhere in the room. The monster did not seem relieved after the slaughter; it appeared even more tormented.
Under the split skin, several human faces were tearing at each other. The humanity that Wei Youfu and Amei had just regained seemed to be fading again.
Han Fei did not know what would happen next, but he was very clear that the reason he had not been dragged away by the monster was because Wei Youfu and Amei had influenced it.
If the faces representing Wei Youfu and Amei were injured or lost their sanity again, he would still face the threat of death.
"The people who died in reality have appeared in the game, and I'm not sure about their current state. However, one thing is certain—they still retain some of their previous memories. At least Wei Youfu and Amei can understand me."
Looking at the tormented monster on the TV, Han Fei resisted the urge to turn around and said softly, "The happy and peaceful life you should have had was destroyed by that perverted killer, so you want revenge?"
What Han Fei said was actually a redundant statement, merely summarizing the monster's behavior in words. However, this actually helped to bridge the gap between Han Fei and the monster, and appropriately shifted the hatred.
The one who caused all the tragedies was not the innocent Han Fei, nor the fellow victims Wei Youfu and Amei, but the person who killed them.
Although Han Fei had not studied psychology, he had seen a psychologist multiple times due to severe social anxiety. He clearly remembered a quote on the wall of one of the doctors: "Put down your own world and accept others' worlds."
To comfort someone who has suffered, one should not limit the definition of suffering to what one can understand.
Since he had not experienced it himself, he should not try to communicate using his own way of thinking. A good psychologist would listen patiently at this moment.
Han Fei did not understand these principles, but he remembered feeling more comfortable when a doctor had done this. So now, he positioned himself as that doctor.
In the haunted house at around three in the morning, next to the monster composed of human bodies, he chose to be a listener who faced away from the monster.
He could not see the monster's ugly and terrifying appearance, only hear its agonized voice.
"You must have been here for a long time..."
Han Fei recalled the speaking techniques of the doctor in his mind, and based on the monster's psychological state, he offered the most heartfelt comfort.
Gradually, the animation on the TV screen changed.
The two faces representing Wei Youfu and Amei stopped resisting. They seemed to be moved by Han Fei's words, and their originally mad and terrifying faces showed a hint of humanity.
Seeing this, the other faces became even more hysterical, as if they were about to vent their pain and despair on Wei Youfu and Amei, who were supposed to be the targets.
Those faces could not hear Han Fei's words, and their pain seemed much deeper than that of the initial two victims.
"The later the time of death, the greater the suffering? What did the perpetrator of the human puzzle case do to them?"
The animation in the TV should reflect what happened in reality. Han Fei watched as Wei Youfu and Amei were about to be torn apart. He knew he could not let this continue.
The two victims had finally regained a bit of their humanity by listening to him, which was the key to changing everything.
If he let them be devoured by the other victims, he might face an even more疯狂的怪物,一个甚至不在乎同类相食的怪物!
Han Fei slowly stood up. His newbie mission was complete, and he could exit the game at any time, so this was his bravest moment.
"You two saved me once, I won't abandon you and leave alone."
"If the other victims want to vent their anger, I'll find a target for them."
He quickly walked to the living room door. As soon as he moved, the monster also moved. The other five faces did not intend to let Han Fei go; their pain and despair had already twisted them.
Smelling the faint blood in the air, Han Fei knew the neighbor at the door had not left: "If the neighbor on the sixth floor does not intend to harm me, I will communicate with him and find a way to control the monster in the haunted house. If he has murderous intentions, I will lure him into the house and make him a target for the victims to vent their anger."
Wei Youfu and Amei were almost being devoured, and the monster was approaching a state of losing control. Han Fei did not dare to waste time and directly grabbed the security door, pulling it open!
As the door opened, a sharp knife stabbed through the gap.
Han Fei, who was well-prepared, narrowly avoided it.
The neighbor outside the door seemed to know something was wrong with the house and did not intend to enter the haunted house. Han Fei saw this and, as the neighbor retracted the knife, he grabbed the neighbor's arm with both hands and forcefully pulled him into the house!
"Bang!"
Both of them fell to the ground. The neighbor on the sixth floor seemed to sense something and quickly got up, but Han Fei's reaction was faster and more decisive.
He did not run away or touch the doorknob. Instead, he used his body to slam the door shut, locking both himself and the neighbor inside the house.
The eerie light from the TV illuminated their faces. The neighbor on the sixth floor, who originally seemed crazy and obsessed with blood, now seemed to have regained his senses.
With a new intruder in the haunted house, all the faces of despair turned to the neighbor on the sixth floor, and this time Wei Youfu and Amei did not intervene.
A huge shadow enveloped the room, and the monster, tormented by despair and pain, rushed from the living room.
The neighbor on the sixth floor reacted quickly, immediately grabbing the doorknob, but Han Fei forcefully pushed him down.
Both of them fell to the ground. The neighbor's eyes were bloodshot, staring at Han Fei with intense anger and confusion, as if asking, "Do you really want to drag me to my death with you?"
The monster, tormented by despair and pain, had already grabbed the neighbor, and in the darkness, it seemed as if arms were hidden.
The neighbor struggled desperately, using the most venomous language to curse Han Fei.
Han Fei watched as the neighbor was slowly dragged deeper into the room, then he forced a grim smile at the neighbor on the sixth floor: "Welcome to the happy and warm family."
