Some people play games to pass the time, some play to enjoy the sense of achievement from victory, but Han Fei mostly played to relieve stress. However, now he felt his stress was even greater.

Putting down the broom, Han Fei scanned the surroundings. The dim yellow light above flickered on and off, and the cozy feeling was long gone.

He quietly moved to the side of the refrigerator. The old man had only opened the top compartment before, and no one knew what was in the bottom.

A whole person couldn't fit into the refrigerator, could they?

Han Fei took a deep breath and slowly opened the bottom compartment of the refrigerator. He pulled out the refrigerated drawers, which were filled with many bulging black plastic bags.

Han Fei had seen similar scenes in horror movies, but watching it on TV and experiencing it in person were two entirely different things.

Reaching into the refrigerated drawer, Han Fei was very worried about seeing a face or some hair.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he used his fingernails to tear open the bag. Inside the black plastic bag were only some frozen fish and chickens.

The imagined adult content did not appear, and Han Fei quickly closed the refrigerator before the old man returned.

"What are you doing?"

The hoarse, aged voice sounded behind him, and Han Fei felt a chill run up his spine.

How could the old lady walk without making any sound?

Turning around, Han Fei picked up the broom on the ground. As a professional actor, he quickly controlled his facial expression: "I wanted to help you clean the house. The refrigerator might have leaked water due to a long power outage, and I suspect there might be a problem with the cooling system."

The old lady's expression never changed, always so kind and gentle, but looking at her face for too long gave a strange chill, as if she only showed this expression.

"Granny, I've lived alone in a foreign place for a long time, and today I felt a bit of warmth in your home. I really appreciate it." Han Fei naturally started cleaning: "We'll be neighbors from now on, so please feel free to ask me for help if you need anything."

Regardless of whether the old lady had hidden bodies in her house, Han Fei at least acted like a simple, honest, and naive person.

The old lady had difficulty walking, so Han Fei thoroughly cleaned the living room: "Rest well, I won't disturb you anymore."

After tidying up the room, the mechanical voice in his mind appeared again: "Player 0000, please note! Your enthusiastic behavior has left a good impression on Meng Shi. Meng Shi's friendliness +5. A harmonious neighborhood relationship is the first step to a perfect life."

As the mechanical voice appeared, the old lady had somehow walked behind Han Fei: "I was going to tell you during dinner, but now you probably don't have the mood to eat at my place. You're a good kid, and Granny also wants to be your neighbor, but I advise you to move out as soon as possible. Something happened in your room."

"Something happened?"

"Don't ask too many questions. Just remember, when you go to sleep at night, make sure to lock the bathroom door."

The old lady seemed very tired and didn't continue talking to Han Fei. She walked into the kitchen alone.

Soon, strange sounds came from the kitchen, followed by a strong aroma of meat. Han Fei didn't dare to stay any longer and quickly left the old lady's house.

After stepping out of the door, his heart finally settled.

"This game seems a bit off."

Han Fei indeed didn't find any bodies in the old lady's refrigerator, but he remembered a detail.

When he first went to the old lady's house, the fuse had blown.

If the fuse itself wasn't faulty, it usually blew due to an overload.

However, when he cleaned the house, he saw that the old lady only had a few appliances: lights, a TV, and a refrigerator.

These few appliances shouldn't have blown the fuse, so the old lady's house probably had other appliances.

"The child's bedroom door is locked. Why would the old lady lock the child in the room? Did the child see something? Could there be another refrigerator in the child's room?"

Thinking about this, Han Fei's bad feeling grew stronger. He shivered and looked at the somewhat eerie hallway.

It seemed as if someone was watching him from behind each door.

"Why does this hallway feel so eerie?"

Han Fei quickly returned to his own doorstep and tried for a long time to open the security door with a large set of keys.

Running back to his own home, Han Fei looked at the old, cold, and empty living room, breathing heavily: "Am I too nervous? This healing game feels like a biohazard."

He poured a glass of water and walked around his house. The old lady's last words echoed in his mind like a curse.

"Something happened in the room, and you need to lock the bathroom door when you sleep..."

Han Fei began to re-examine the surroundings. The room was very old and dusty, but there was one strange thing: every window except the bathroom was covered with thick, opaque curtains.

He came to the window and lifted a corner of the curtain.

Behind the curtain was a window sealed with wooden boards. Looking through the gaps in the boards, he saw a pitch-black city.

This game world, shrouded in darkness, was vast, with no visible boundaries.

"Didn't they say there would be a cozy scene and soothing music?"

Han Fei pulled the curtain back and realized that the online reviews of this game were somewhat one-sided. Although it was a game set in the human world, it seemed to contain many elements of the supernatural.

"Am I playing it wrong?"

In terms of sound quality, visual effects, and natural interaction, this game far exceeded any game Han Fei had played before. However, it felt too real.

Sitting on the sofa, Han Fei closed his eyes, and a status panel and a task panel appeared in his mind.

After helping the old lady fix the fuse, the task system had already activated. The voice in his mind said that completing the beginner tasks would help him quickly understand this world.

Thinking about this, Han Fei opened the task panel and looked at the three beginner tasks, his expression becoming somewhat strange.

Beginner Task 1: Take a shower

Beginner Task 2: Watch TV

Beginner Task 3: Sleep

The beginner tasks in this game were "simple" to an absurd degree, with no extra introduction, just everyday activities.

"Should I start with sleeping? I'm pretty good at sleeping."

Han Fei didn't choose randomly. He remembered the old lady's warning to lock the bathroom door when sleeping, which might be key to completing the task.

Compared to guessing, Han Fei felt that sleeping was a safer choice.

"I choose Beginner Task 3: Sleep." As soon as this thought appeared in his mind, the task was selected, and the cold mechanical voice appeared again.

"Player 0000 accepts the G-level beginner task: Sleep!"

"Task Description: After a busy day, you drag your tired body to the bedroom bed."

"Task Requirements: Please turn off all the lights in the house and lie on the bedroom bed within five minutes. No matter what happens, do not leave the bed for three hours."

"Is it really that simple?" Han Fei confirmed that he hadn't missed any task information and got up to enter the bedroom.

On the dusty double bed, a set of red bedding, including pillows, blankets, and sheets, was thrown around.

"The bright red color, it looks so festive."

Han Fei frowned as he tidied the bed and went to the bathroom door. As he prepared to follow the old lady's advice and lock the bathroom door, he realized a problem.

The bathroom door could only be locked from the inside, not from the outside.

After thinking for a moment, Han Fei inserted the mop diagonally into the door handle to block the bathroom door and moved the shoe cabinet to the bathroom door.

"Should be good enough, right?"

To be safe, he went to the kitchen and picked up a kitchen knife: "Is it strange to sleep with a kitchen knife in a healing game? Never mind, it's better to be safe than sorry."

As the five-minute preparation time was almost over, he turned off all the lights in the house and lay on the bedroom bed with the kitchen knife.
