Chapter 38

Inside the mirror was a world of blood-red, filled with shredded flesh and blood, and monsters composed of victims' bodies crowded the entire room.

Although there were no such bloody scenes in reality, the monsters were real, and Han Fei had already felt the terror and oppression.

The smell of blood in the air grew stronger. Although the warm water was washing over his body, Han Fei felt as if he were bathing in blood.

In the living room, the television, which once held the warm memories of the victims, now showed their beautiful pasts gradually being replaced by the nightmares of a child.

Little figures fled in the dark forest, and they were eventually dragged into the pitch-black wooden house.

The monster in the mirror grew larger, and the human face at the heart of the monster became increasingly clear.

It was the face of a girl, who looked young, with no trace of complex emotions, as pure as a blank sheet of paper.

"Is she the eighth victim? The one with no records, number eight?"

Han Fei deeply imprinted the girl's face in his mind; this was one of the key clues to solving the case.

The steam in the bathroom became thicker, and the terrifying monster in the mirror began to appear.

When it was fully assembled, it would likely be like the complete entity Han Fei encountered during his previous TV mission.

Witnessing the victims being dismembered and then reassembled into a more terrifying monster far exceeded the limits of what an ordinary person could endure, directly raising Han Fei's mental threshold.

His body trembled uncontrollably, but even at such a moment, Han Fei did not forget Wei Youfu's request.

Standing alone in the bathroom, the monster had already begun to appear outside the mirror, and the bodies formed from the steam were behind him.

"How should I help her?"

The eighth victim was like a princess sleeping inside the monster's body, only appearing when the other seven victims were disassembled.

In a sense, this seemingly flawless and beautiful girl was actually the ugliest and most terrifying monster, seemingly one with it.

Wei Youfu only hoped Han Fei would help the girl but did not tell him how to do it.

As the monster gradually became complete, the girl's face was slowly covered by flesh and blood, about to be completely enveloped by the victims' bodies.

Seeing the girl gradually disappear and the monster become more complete, Han Fei felt he could not let this continue; he had to do something.

Turning around, Han Fei faced the blood-soaked monster that almost filled the entire bathroom, and he made a crazy decision.

He thrust his hands into the gaps of the flesh, enduring the sticky, nauseating feeling, and pulled apart the limbs covering the girl's face, trying to pull her out of the monster's body!

He was saving a person, but his hands were covered in blood, both others' and his own.

Sharp broken bones cut his arms, and the pain and fear tormented every nerve, but Han Fei did not dare to stop. More and more flesh gathered around the girl's face, and to help the child, he desperately dug through the flesh.

He had never seen so much blood or had such a terrifying experience. He forced himself not to think about anything else, fearing that any pause would lead to his collapse.

Piece by piece, the flesh was dug away, and Han Fei was drenched in blood, but his movements became more skilled and faster.

Gradually, Han Fei dug out the girl's head and shoulders from the flesh monster.

Fine blood vessels were torn, and Han Fei's mind was blank. He mechanically repeated the same action until the electronic clock outside sounded.

It was four o'clock in the morning, and dawn arrived. Although it was still dark outside, the speed of the flesh healing clearly slowed. The girl, who looked like a sleeping beauty, fluttered her eyelashes, as if trying to open her eyes.

Han Fei immediately sped up, stepping on the flesh, drenched in blood. Slowly, he finally dug out one of the girl's arms.

The steam had long been replaced by blood mist. When Han Fei grabbed her hand, preparing to pull her out of the grotesque flesh, the sleeping girl slowly opened her eyes.

Han Fei had never seen such eyes. The girl seemed to have no memory or emotion, her clear, bottomless eyes like those of a newborn baby.

"I'm here to save you."

In the hell of flesh and blood, Han Fei looked into the girl's eyes, holding her arm.

He did not know if the girl could understand him; he only wanted to pull the child out of the monster's body.

The girl looked at Han Fei blankly, at everything around her. She understood nothing, her eyes reflecting only the world.

The speed of the flesh reassembling slowed, but when Han Fei dug out the girl's other arm, he stopped.

The girl's torso was penetrated by black threads, thoroughly intertwined with the monster's flesh. Brute force alone could not separate them.

"Do you know what those black threads in your body are?" As Han Fei's hand touched the threads, his mind was filled with dizziness, and a wave of malice and despair flooded his thoughts.

The girl could not understand Han Fei's words. She seemed to have become accustomed to being trapped in the flesh, as if this was her normal world.

"What's your name? Do you remember who turned you into this?"

Han Fei did not know how to remove the black threads, so he changed his approach, trying to get as much useful information from the girl as possible.

Even if he could not help her, catching the culprit would be a form of revenge for all the victims.

The girl inside the monster's body still did not speak. She looked around and then her gaze was drawn to the television in the living room.

Little figures were caught and dragged back to the wooden house, crying silently, the entire forest in silence.

The dark scenes, the dark night, the dark house—seeing all this, the girl seemed to remember something, uttering broken words, as if singing a short song.

"Daddy held Mommy's head, saying he would use her hair to make me new clothes."

"Good children get rewards, bad children are sent to the cafeteria."

"You should smile, cry, and be quiet, listening to Daddy's teachings."

"Brother and sister were sent far away, and younger brother and sister became fewer."

"I put on the new clothes Daddy made, and he said I still lacked wings."

After the girl finished her last line, the eerie scene on the TV changed. Countless fireflies flew out of the dark forest, their weak bodies bringing light.

The monster in the bathroom, composed entirely of flesh, began to dissolve, and the girl's body was dragged back into the flesh by the black threads.

Han Fei tried desperately to stop it but could not change the outcome.

"The eighth victim died at four o'clock in the morning, at dawn." Han Fei memorized the girl's final short song and looked at the TV again: "Forest, black house, younger brother and sister, new clothes, wings..."

All the key information came together, and Han Fei now had a wealth of clues that the police did not have.

"Player 0000, please note! The bathing mission is complete! Free skill point +1, mission reward—Landlord's diary."

The cold voice in his mind interrupted Han Fei's thoughts. When he came to his senses, the oppressive feeling in the bathroom had significantly diminished.
