Several victims' family members looked at Han Fei standing in the blood, and they all calmed down.
Ten years of waiting, it was both long and short.
The long part was the time, during which the victims' family members slowly aged, their physical strength and energy far from what they used to be. They began to worry that if they left this world, no one would continue to seek the truth and avenge their loved ones.
The short part was also the time; these mere ten years were not enough for them to forget the pain of losing their family members. Just a slight recollection would wake them up in the middle of the night.
"Alright, I believe you." Wei Youfu's father was the first to step forward: "Whether it's to comfort us or out of sincerity, at least I know you are indeed investigating the real culprit."
The old man had met Han Fei once at his home, when Han Fei and Li Xue went there to investigate.
He didn't say anything more, just patted Han Fei's shoulder: "Be careful."
The other victims' family members also put down their banners and slowly left the filming site.
After they all left, Jiang Yi hurriedly ran to Han Fei's side: "Is your back okay! Does it still hurt? Props team! Hurry up and get Han Fei a new set of clothes!"
"I'm fine." Han Fei didn't care about the fake blood all over him; he had experienced more terrifying things.
"I'm sorry for putting you through this; we didn't expect it to turn out this way."
"Director Jiang, it doesn't matter to me, but there's something I have to tell you." Han Fei turned to look at Ah Cheng, who had just gotten up from the ground: "This drama can't be filmed this way. If you insist, I will not only quit, but I will also help the victims' family members to protest."
As soon as Han Fei spoke, the surrounding crew members were surprised. They all considered Han Fei one of their own and thought he was just comforting the family members.
"Are you serious? I thought you were just comforting them." Jiang Yi took a new set of clothes from the props team and tried to hand them to Han Fei, but Han Fei didn't take them.
"At the New Shanghai Film Academy, you taught me, and I should call you teacher. But, Teacher, is this really the movie you want to make?"
"You might not be at my age yet, so you don't fully understand. Sometimes, you have to learn to compromise." Jiang Yi noticed Han Fei's tone: "You're not really going to quit over this, are you?"
"Before, I cared a lot about acting, but now I've found many things more important than acting." Han Fei took off his blood-soaked coat: "I suggest you wait until the case is solved before filming. If you insist on filming now, it will be a bad movie."
"Hey! What do you know?" Ah Cheng got up from the ground, and after talking to his agent, he became angrier: "I thought you were a big star, but you're just an extra in the eighteenth line?"
"I'm not a star, and I'm not an extra. I'm an actor." Han Fei looked at Ah Cheng calmly.
"Do you have any works? Any shows? Name one so I can learn from you?" Ah Cheng avoided Han Fei's gaze, his expression full of disdain.
"We're all in the same boat, don't fight among ourselves." Jiang Yi tried to mediate.
"Who's in the same boat with him? An extra with a sense of superiority? He said he would quit, so let him quit. Does he really think the world revolves around him?" Ah Cheng held a grudge. Han Fei had called his acting bad, which, though true, was often the most hurtful.
"Shut up! If it weren't for Han Fei blocking in front, that bucket of blood would have hit the victims' family members! That would have affected our production, and your company would have had to spend a lot on PR." Jiang Yi knew the industry well, and because of that, he didn't want to let Han Fei go. Han Fei was the best actor in the entire production.
After scolding Ah Cheng, Jiang Yi walked back to Han Fei: "This case has been unsolved for ten years. Who knows how long it will take to solve it? Even if I can wait, what about the company that invested in this production? The entire crew needs to eat. Han Fei, be realistic."
"He's just a lunatic, obsessed with acting, thinking he's the son of a victim's family!" Ah Cheng was extremely dissatisfied with Han Fei: "And he says he'll help the victims' family members protest if the script isn't changed? What does he have to do with this case? He's crazy!"
"You'll know soon enough if I have anything to do with this case." Han Fei glanced at Ah Cheng, who was hiding in the crowd. The look in his eyes was like he was looking at a corpse, making Ah Cheng shudder.
"You have something to do with this case?" Ah Cheng remembered Han Fei's look and broke out in a cold sweat: "Are you the fugitive killer? The one who murdered seven people?"
"Han Fei, I still hope you can help me finish this production. We can make changes to the plot according to the victims' family members' requests." Jiang Yi ignored Ah Cheng; he didn't like Ah Cheng, but he couldn't replace him because of the investment from Ah Cheng's company.
"You're going in the wrong direction. If you continue this way, it will definitely be a bad movie." Han Fei changed out of his blood-soaked coat: "Director Jiang, you gave me a chance when I had no roles. I genuinely hope this production can be excellent, not just a source of criticism. In a while, there will be a breakthrough in the case. Then you can give this production a perfect ending, a way to honor the deceased."
"You're just an extra, what gives you the nerve to criticize? You're just a small screw in this production. If you don't learn humility, you'll never make it." Ah Cheng's agent also stepped forward, fussing over Ah Cheng and then berating Han Fei.
"Stop it!" Director Jiang's voice grew louder; he was already frustrated enough.
"Jiang Yi, I know he was your student, but you treat us so differently." Ah Cheng was full of resentment: "Don't forget, I'm the lead in this production. This show can go on without anyone, but not without the lead."
He waved to his agent: "Let's go."
Ah Cheng left the filming site. More than leaving early, he was a bit afraid of Han Fei and didn't want to stay there any longer.
After they ran out of the apartment building, the agent quickly grabbed Ah Cheng, a bit worried: "Ah Cheng, is it really okay to just leave like this?"
"Don't worry, I'm just giving them a few days to cool off. Once they realize they can't do without me, they'll come back to me. Then I can make more demands and reluctantly agree." Ah Cheng's face showed a vicious expression: "That damn extra, I'll find a way to get rid of him. Who does he think he is?"
Listening to Ah Cheng, the agent felt a bit uneasy: "Ah Cheng, what if they don't come back to you?"
