Chapter 73

A comedian, while researching for his role, accidentally discovered clues to a real-life murder case. This highly dramatic event in itself could be made into a movie.

"The deceased's body parts are hidden in Building 1 of the Happy Community in the outskirts. I suggest you go there immediately, as the butterfly might have seen Meng Changxi's live stream and is likely to take action."

"That place has already been sealed off." Li Xue's superior looked at Han Fei by the table. His years of investigative intuition told him that things were not that simple, but he could also sense that Han Fei had no ill intentions. The young man in front of him seemed to genuinely want to solve the case.

"I've told you everything I know. Can I go now?" Han Fei had to go back home to play games that night; he couldn't spend the night at the police station.

"Do you have anything else to do? We are applying for a personal commendation for your bravery, and we will also appropriately increase the reward for the Human Jigsaw Case based on your contribution to the case." The superior was very good with words. As soon as he spoke, Han Fei immediately perked up.

"How much will the reward be?" A glint of excitement flashed in Han Fei's eyes as he took a sip of water. "Actually, the money doesn't matter. I risked my life, disregarded my personal safety, and went through great lengths to find clues, mainly to avenge the victims! When I was filming, the victims' families came to the set, and their pain tugged at my heart."

Han Fei was about to say more about how difficult it had been for him when his phone suddenly vibrated, and all the police officers looked at him.

"Jiang Yi?" Han Fei didn't know why Director Jiang would call him at this time. To avoid any misunderstandings, he put the call on speaker as soon as he answered.

"Han Fei! Did you see Meng Changxi's live stream? This case is about to be solved! Our wait has been worth it!" Director Jiang was extremely excited. The filming had been in a deadlock, the lead actor had walked out, and the victims' families had caused a commotion. He had been under a lot of pressure.

"I saw it." Han Fei muttered to himself, thinking that he had not only seen it but also been involved.

"When are you coming back to film? This time, we have real-life references for the script! If we can bring Meng Changxi's final scene to the screen, it will definitely have an explosive effect!" Director Jiang seemed to be reimagining the plot. He now looked like a person who had been enduring thirst in the desert for days and had suddenly found an oasis with a fridge full of cold drinks.

"I can't go back for now." Han Fei smiled bitterly. "I'm at the police station, assisting the police with the Human Jigsaw Case."

"You... assisting the police?" Director Jiang was so engrossed in the plot that he was a bit confused.

"Let the police tell you." Han Fei handed the phone to Li Xue's superior and whispered to him, "I haven't been back to the set for a long time because I was following up on clues. Now our director wants me to return to filming. Could you please put in a good word for me?"

Taking the phone, Li Xue's superior explained how Han Fei had provided clues and assisted the police in solving the case. The superior was very emotionally intelligent, and his praise made Han Fei feel a bit embarrassed.

On the other end of the line, Jiang Yi was stunned by what the police said.

"I asked you to research past news to get into character, not to actually solve a case!"

By a twist of fate, Han Fei not only won over the crew with his acting but also provided crucial clues to solve the Human Jigsaw Case and the Body in the Fridge Case.

It took Director Jiang a long time to process this information, but his shock still hadn't subsided, and his speech was a bit slurred. "Officer, you must treat Han Fei well. He is the backbone of our production!"

"Han Fei has been very helpful in solving the case. We will release him after we record the necessary information, and it won't affect your filming. Additionally, we hope you can portray the police in a positive light during the filming."

"Of course, of course!" Jiang Yi promised, patting his chest. After talking with Li Xue's superior, he gave Han Fei a few instructions, hoping that Han Fei would visit the set if he had time the next day.

After hanging up, Han Fei continued to assist the police with the remaining investigation, unaware of the impact his call had on Jiang Yi.

...

After the call with Han Fei, Jiang Yi immediately dialed several other numbers. Some people didn't answer, so he took a taxi to a film company.

Rushing all the way, Jiang Yi kept calling on his phone: "Sister Long! I have something very important to tell you!"

Arranged by the receptionist, Director Jiang entered the meeting room, where several people in suits were discussing matters.

"Jiang Yi, you're here because of the live stream of the Human Jigsaw Case's killer, right?" Sister Long sat on one side of the meeting room, exuding authority. "We've already received the news. The case's popularity is off the charts, which is very beneficial for our movie. However, water can carry a boat but can also capsize it. If we don't handle this popularity well, it could be disastrous."

"Sister Long, I now have 100% confidence in making this movie! But there's something I need to inform you." Director Jiang's expression was very serious.

"What is it? Sit down, take your time, and speak slowly."

"I want to change the lead actor. Cheng cannot deliver the feeling I want. He can't portray the tenacity of a decade-long investigation." As soon as Director Jiang said this, everyone in the meeting room became restless.

"Our production may not have a large budget, but the main investors are Han Film and Dragon Culture, where Cheng is from. If you don't use Cheng, you need to consider the consequences. They might withdraw their investment. Besides, where will you find a suitable lead actor now? Do you have the money to hire someone else?"

"There is a perfect lead actor for this movie! He is the most suitable person for the role!" Jiang Yi didn't back down. He took out his phone and showed the information of an actor: "His name is Han Fei."

"Han Fei? I've never heard of him."

Sister Long and the others in the meeting room whispered to each other. After a brief discussion, they all frowned, and Sister Long stood up and walked to Jiang Yi. "He looks handsome. Is he a new rising star?"

"No."

"Has he starred in any famous works before?"

"No."

"Is he a new talent from a major company?"

"He's not a new talent, and he doesn't have a company backing him."

Hearing Jiang Yi's response, Sister Long was so angry that she laughed. "No popularity, no fame, no works, and no company backing. Why do you want to choose him? Is he a relative of yours?"

"He's not my relative, but he is a key witness in the Human Jigsaw Case!"

"What?"

Not only Sister Long, but everyone in the meeting room was stunned.

"He is a witness." Jiang Yi looked straight at Sister Long, his gaze unwavering. "The Human Jigsaw Case from ten years ago was solved because of him. The police are preparing a commendation ceremony for him, and I confirmed this by phone!"

"You... want the person who solved this case to play the lead role in the movie?"

Sister Long was speechless. She had never encountered such a situation.

After a brief silence, the meeting room erupted in chaos.
