Chapter 33

Why did my reality get distorted by just not answering her call? No way, was it the butterfly effect?

Kusora doesn’t get angry when I answer her call.

Everything stays peaceful.

She doesn’t get angry and show up to find me and try to kill me.

But when I don’t answer her phone?

She gets mad.

So she approached me with her guards in tow.

What if there’s an organization around that seems more powerful than you?

Only a cautious organ trafficker would retreat immediately, of course.

That’s why he didn’t show up to torch the place, no matter how long we waited.

Her family controls the huge axis of power in this country.

Naturally, her family’s security forces are far more powerful than the organ trafficking organization.

“Hahahaha.”

I can’t believe how much my reality has changed just by not answering a phone call. She really is a horrible woman.

After I [Loaded], I headed back to the stall. Then I waited for the phone call. After waiting for a while, the phone rang. I don’t know why I’m so nervous about this. I answered the phone and had the same conversation with Kusora as before. The conversation ended peacefully. I guess she won’t show up again.

I went back to the politician’s house and went straight upstairs with Hikami-san. She immediately said that it looked like someone had searched the body. Everything was the same, even down to the rats coming out of the house. This is about as close as I’m going to get to getting the results I want. Feeling a powerful sense of déjà vu, I let everything proceed in the same sequence as that time when I was set on fire.

I led Hikami-san to the room and uncovered the basement under the bed. I took her hand and went into the basement. Then, on the stairs, we had the same conversation as last time.

“Let’s get back.”

We hid in the basement and ran up to the living room, since it seemed like some time had passed. Finally, we caught their tails; three guys were holding a gasoline tank and ready to set it on fire. When we suddenly appeared, they pointed their knives at us, but Hikami-san was much quicker.

She sliced off the arm of the man who was coming at us as if she was dancing in earnest. Then the hand that had been holding the sashimi knife was cut off from the wrist. The man whose hand had been severed collapsed, screaming. There was no mercy.

Hikami-san sliced through the back of the man who had fallen flat and defenseless. The remaining one came at her with a shout, but the blade the man was holding was sliced in half mercilessly. It was the same blade, but their abilities were too different. And he immediately collapsed. The other one, sensing the danger at the sight of it, started to back away.

“Leave him alive! We have to find out where their headquarters is located!”

Her sword came close to piercing the heart of the man who was backing away, but stopped just short. Fortunately, she seemed to have heard me and instead of pointing her blade at him, she threw a kick.

The kick was so powerful that it sent the man flying into the living room. She was very strong after all. No matter how deadly she was with her weapon, she was still able to take out three men in a matter of seconds.

Hikami-san walked up to him and grabbed the man by the collar and glared at him as if she intended to kill him.

“Where are all the others?”

“…….”

But the man remained silent and just stared back at Hikami-san. A futile attempt at acting brave.

-shinnnng!

Then, Hikami-san’s sword severed the man’s arm. His face was distorted with pain as his arm was cut off without any warning.

Human trafficking. And worst of all, organ traffickers. No matter how much he screamed, I didn’t feel any pity for him. Ms. Hikami crushed the severed part of the man with her foot as if she were putting out a cigarette. She lifted the almost unconscious man’s slumped body and gave him an ultimatum.

I’m going to ask you one more time. Next time, it’s your neck.”

There was no hesitation in the eyes of the man as he heard her threat. If he remained silent, his head would soon be separated from his body. I didn’t have the slightest doubt about that fact. The man seemed to have realized this fact as well as I had, and he lifted his other arm and said, “I’m sorry.”

“OObi ….. Le…Ta ….Help…someone…!”

When Hikami-san heard this, she released her hand that was gripping his chest and swung her sword around. The man’s neck was severed, blood splashed from his neck and the man died just like that. The expression on her face was too terrifying for me to approach her carelessly.

“Um…?”

“Yes…?”

When I called out to her, she replied briskly, fortunately shifting her angry face to a more cheerful one.

To others, she looked like a grim reaper, but to me, she looked kind and warm. I couldn’t help but wonder at the contrast.

[Mission “Uncover the identity of the stall] Cleared, difficulty C.

[Congratulations! A bonus of 50 million yen has been deposited.]

As usual, I checked the [Status Window], and a window appeared informing me that the mission had been cleared. Seeing that it was cleared even though I hadn’t even eradicated the main base yet, it seems that the mission was not to clean up the organ trafficking organization, but to uncover the secrets surrounding the stall and the house.

Then my mission is complete. However, she wanted to go straight to annihilate the remnants. Should I help her then? I don’t think it’s a good idea to back out here. I have an intangible sword, so I should be fine. Of course, it’s not for attacking, so it might be useless.

“I feel like we’ve left too many traces of us in this house. Why don’t we just burn it all down? The evidence of the organ traffickers will disappear, but your goal is not to arrest them, but to kill them all, isn’t it?”

She nodded when I suggested that there were far too many bodies that Ms. Hikami had killed to hide the evidence.

“Whether these people had anything to do with my brother’s death or not, I can’t allow it.”

“Well, let’s burn this place down then.”

Since the traffickers had already prepared a gasoline tank to burn the house down, there was no problem in setting it on fire. I’m still protected by the game, but I don’t want Hikami-san to be chased by the police due to a useless lead, so burning the house is the right thing to do. Well, considering that she’s as good as she is, my concern might be an unnecessary issue.

There is no downside to burning it. I threw the lighter towards the gasoline and ran out of the house with Ms. Hikawa. The home of organ trafficking, which had taken the lives of so many people, began to burst into flames. As I looked up at the flames, feeling bitter and refreshed, I suddenly heard a familiar voice from behind me.

I turned around, startled by the familiar voice, and my body froze.

“Yoho! Oji-chan”
