chapter 91

At that time the imperial physician Song was still at Nangong Ning’s side and waiting for imperial physician Qiao. To safeguard Nangong Ning, he gave a coldly glance by instinct.

After all, imperial physician Song was the chief of the imperial hospital, who was rich in both qualification and fame. Imperial physician Qiao was still young so he couldn’t resist this cold glance. He felt diffident in mind, which made his body pause for a second.

Nangong Ning looked at imperial physician Song with appreciation, and curled up her lips to send a smile to him. Then she turned her sight back and stared at the young imperial physician Qiao coldly with an implicit smile.

Being stared at her cold sight, he felt his face hot so he quickly lowered his head and stepped towards her.

Nangong Ning declared, “Imperial physician Qiao, it is well known that you are good at detoxification. So…the floor is yours.”

Imperial physician Qiao was just diffident. However, when he turned his head he realized that the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli’s cold and sharp sight was shooting him even before he looked at her. He had to force himself to say, “I just have a try.”

Nangong Ning pushed Princess Qingle out in order to let imperial physician Qiao treat her.

Imperial physician Qiao dared not look at Nangong Ning. He quickly began to deal with his trouble.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli always stared at imperial physician Qiao. She was very angry to see his expression when he looked at Nangong Ning. She could tell it that he was diffident.

Why on earth did he feel diffident in front of Nangong Ning, an orphan girl who have nothing at all?

It was a pity that imperial physician Qiao was diffident indeed at the moment. Even a simple feeling of the pulse was much harder than before. What was worse, this pulse was truly hard to feel, which was completely out of his expectation!

Crowds witnessed that imperial physician Qiao turned white and cold sweat emerged on his forehead. They all looked at him strangely.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was more confused. She felt uneasy at once when she saw Nangong Ning was still holding her daughter calmly. “What is going on?” said her in a slightly stern voice.

“Hmm…highest-ranking imperial concubine, I…” Imperial physician Qiao licked his lips nervously. He raised his head to wipe sweat, but couldn’t make an explanation in the end.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli’s face changed immediately. She couldn’t help looking at Nangong Ning, who still remained calm as normal. Looking at the faint smile on her cheek, the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli’s heart fluttered abruptly.

“Imperial physician Qiao!”

Hearing the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli’s shout, imperial physician Qiao’s body shivered. He rushed to turn back and went down on his knees towards the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, and kowtowed hard for many times. “Highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, I am incompetent. I cannot feel princess’ pulse clearly, so the poison is also…” said him nervously.

“What? What do you say?” The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli’s facial muscles began to contort. She looked straight at imperial physician Qiao as if she couldn’t understand his speak.

Imperial physician Qiao broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead. He could do nothing but say, “This poison is…is beyond my capabilities!”

“How could you!” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli shook her head for she couldn’t believe it.

Empress Xun looked at here coldly at the moment. She slightly lifted her lips and satirized, “What is the matter with you, highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli? Imperial physician Qiao has declared that he can’t detoxify it. Why don’t you believe it?”

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli frowned suddenly. She turned to Empress Xun, anger in eyes.

“It can’t be true!”

“Are you sure?” Empress Xun asked upon her speaking. “Imperial physician Qiao himself has declared that he can’t detoxify it, but you just don’t believe him. You are really tough, so what is your prop?”

“I…” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli said rashly, but stopped in a second.

Imperial physician Qiao could detoxify it in her plan, because she had conferred with him. However, he declared that he couldn’t. What did it mean?

“I just feel anxious about Qingle.” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli cast off her panic in mind and quickly find a way to cope with Empress Xun.

Empress Xun coldly raised her eyebrows. “A kind mother’s heart. Well, it is also understandable,” said her with a faint smile.

Trying hard to ignore Empress Xun’s sarcasm, the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli looked at imperial physician Qiao, who was still kneeling, and asked, “Imperial physician Qiao, are you sure you can’t make it?”

Imperial physician Qiao also had calmed down, but was still quite nervous. He could do nothing but say, “Forgive me. I am incompetent.”

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli quietly took a deep breath, and looked at Nangong Ning coldly.

“Nangong Ning, what on earth did you use on Qingle?”

“Never did I poison her.” Nangong Ning answered clearly.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli gave a brittle laugh, “You didn’t? So how do you explain Qingle was poisoned?”

“It is you that are supposed to answer this question. I was just passing by, and help to support princess by chance when she fell down.” Nangong Ning was not afraid at all.

Nangong Ning was shocked in mind now.

The reason she felt strange before was that she had thought even a vicious tiger would not eat its cubs. Though the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli hated her strongly and always tried to set up her, she didn’t think the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli would use her own daughter as a decoy. However, now she thought it was she that belittled this brutal, cold-blooded woman!

The reason the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli asked imperial physician Qiao must be that she had told imperial physician Qiao how to detoxify it out of concern that Princess Qingle was her own daughter. Such a way should ensure that Qingle would be safe in the end. However, the pity was that fate had decided otherwise. Princess Qingle was born a strange physique, and she once touched something which could react with poison. So the poison had changed.

When it had changed, the imperial physician Qiao under his arrangement could not work.

Now Nangong Ning was sure that the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli also had realized this. However, she didn’t try to cure her daughter, but kept on framing her!

Was this woman indeed a mother?

At that moment, Nangong Ning looked down on the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli.

What the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli could see was that Nangong Ning was completely unhurried, and her sight towards her was mixed with a clear scorn. That made her quite angry, and such anger drove her to forget the fact that she was a mother and the safety of her daughter was the real important thing at present.

Her fierce eyes stared at Nangong Ning, and shrill words came from her teeth, “So do you mean Qingli was poisoned, yes or not?”

Nangong Ning nodded.

“Well! Come on, attest Nangong Ning!”

“Highest-ranking imperial concubine!” Empress Xun said as soon as she heard the shout.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, however, looked straight at Empress Xun coldly and said, “Empress, Qingle is the only one princess of our emperor. He loves her as if she is the apple of his eye. You must have a clear sense of it.”

“Of course I am clear about it, but what does it have to do with my dear Ning Er?” Empress Xun was angry in the heart. Though she had given birth to the crown prince, not only the crown prince but also any other princes enjoyed more favors from the emperor than the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli’s Princess Qingle.

“As you know it, you should not stop me. No matter if Nangong Ning really poisoned Princess Qingle, she now is a suspect of this murder about royal family member. Such a suspicion is enough for her to be put in prison!” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli shouted harshly.

Hearing this noise, Empress Xun’s eyes turned dark. However she could not say anything because what the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli said was also the truth.

“Come on!”

Nangong Ning sucked her lips and looked at Princess Qingle in her arms. She had the poison bracelet, so she was cognizant that Princess Qingle had been poisoned as soon as she hugged her, and she also know what the poison was. Poison in Qingle’s body changed, which had baffled imperial physician Song and imperial physician Qiao. Yet for her it was not difficult to detoxify.

However, now she was sure that what the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was concerned most was not to save Princess Qingle, but to put her in prison. This malevolent female wanted to humiliate her at first!

And she didn’t have the poison. Even if she knew how to detoxify it, she could not make it in reality.

Now the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli had called her attendants, and they were about to arrest Nangong Ning. Seeing this, Empress Xun was anxious and said, “Highest-ranking imperial concubine, Qingle is still in Ning Er’s arms.”

“If she dare to take Qingle as hostage, her sins will be doubled!” Now it seemed that the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was getting out of control. She just wanted to put Nangong Ning in prison immediately. Today’s scheme was arranged by her at an early time, but Nangong Ning’s reaction had disturbed her rhythm and she was almost beat by Nangong Ning!

Now she just wanted to continue the scheme as soon as possible. Otherwise her Qingle would suffer in vain!

Nangong Ning now was also helpless. She had thought that the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli would turn to her when she realized imperial physician Qiao couldn’t detoxify it. However, the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was also a malevolent female who didn’t comply with mother’s principle.

However, even though the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, the very mother, was ruthless, she herself could not turn a blind eye to it. Not to mention the fact that Princess Qingle didn’t frame her. She was only a 5-or-6 child.

“The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, wait!” She anxiously screamed before stooges went to her.

Yer the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli turned a deaf ear to her. What she thought now was just to arrest Nangong Ning at once.

“We have no time to lose. I can cure our princess!” without any other way, Nangong Ning shouted loudly.

Hearing that, Empress Xun also added immediately, “You are right. Treat the princess at first!”

But the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was unwilling. She coldly blamed, “It was she herself that poisoned our princess. How could she treat our princess now? Empress, Don’t believe her. She just want to delay the time with her trick!”

“How could you–” facing with the mad highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, Empress Xun also felt helpless.

In this condition, Nangong Ning had to give a glance to imperial physician Song for help. Imperial physician Song now was also anxious and unstable, and he immediately understood it. Suddenly he stood up and rushed out.

Stooges who were going for Nangong Ning stopped for a second by his rush. Nangong Ning took this opportunity to stood up and ran towards the path in rockery, Princess Qingle in her arms.

“Hurry! Catch her!” seeing this, the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli got extremely angry and shouted.

Some stooges quickly ran to the path.

Nangong Ning now could just run hard, but she could not run fast with a 5-or-6 girl in her arms.

At that time she truly envied Su Yuan’s dodge. However, last time Su Yuan had entered the palace because he was helped by master. This time she was not likely to be so lucky.

If there were someone who could enter the palace and save her now, he must be Jun Qianye. Unfortunately, Jun Qianye was already a “missing person” since last night, so it was even more impossible.

She rushed to the edge of a lake, and saw a little boat on the water nearby, which must be maidens’ boat to pick up lotus seeds.

She suddenly felt a jolt, and then ran straight to the edge of the lake. She planned to escape by this boat. It seemed that stooges could not catch her in water, so she could cure Princess Qingle.

When she was still thinking, stooges had rushed here. Nangong Ning, who had no time to step in the boat and had no choice, gritted her teeth, held Princess Qingle tight in her arms, closed her eyes and jumped into the water!
